I’m really enjoying listening to your book, Andrew. I feel like I’ve done some of the early work.. I’ve pretty much removed everyone from my life, family , old friends, actually everyone.. because they have all contributed to my episodes in the past and I am working on removing anything from my life that could possibly be a trigger. I am 42 and have had episodes of bipolar more than yearly for the last 22 years. I feel like I have made myself a blank canvas, and perhaps your book has come to me at a perfect time. I’m surprised you don’t have a chapter on medication. Or how you got off the medication. 🤔

Hi Jayne, thank you for taking the time to write your comment. I am pleased to read that you are enjoying the audiobook. You have taken a massive step already in removing relationships from your life that have had a negative impact on you. I think that shows a great awareness of contributing factors affecting your mental health in a negative way. Its a very big step to do what you have done already in this regard, takes a lot of strength and courage to do that and I commend you . I was very careful with not specifically giving medical advice in the book, for a myriad of reasons, including about medications. As I was a pioneer in finding a way to free myself of the all of my mental suffering, I experimented a lot with trialing things out. I am sure you are aware about medications, especially psychiatric medications that they need to be weened off. I was a bit more risk taking in this regard with some of them, not giving the required time to ween off and hurried this process along by stopping them pretty quickly when i felt i had gained enough mental fortitude and skills to face whatever came up for me once off of them. I think removing the medication is something that is best trialed out with monitoring by health care professional, but i personalty just went with what i felt was right to try. I think looking at the other aspects of the book and implementing first is the best idea for most people, as I think once those things are in place it will make an easier transition (imo). If you felt to you could even speak to your doctor about halving the amount and see how that goes for a time. Diet is really crucial, as we want a healthy gut, and can do so by eating a healthy diet. I would lookup Dr. Joel Furhman with his nutritarian diet. I eat a very healthy vegan diet myself now,. The main aspect of eating right is to cultivate a healthy gut micrbiome. This is very important, especially with serotonin as most of it comes from the gut. Unhealthy foods destroys the gut microbiome. As i have said in my book, it is a holistic approach to mental wellness, so every aspect i write about in my book is important. I think another key area to face is delving into all our pain that is suppressed. When working on getting better i asked myself many quality questions to understand why i was feeling as i did. I learned that all doctors did was mask symptoms, and i knew nothing was going to get better until i started to understand the cause. This takes self reflection and is not always that pleasant. I plan to make more videos about bipolar including have an online program to assist in a more structured manner to give a road map on how to start cultivating a healthy mind. I will be including as a part of this how to do this inner work as i have done. Please let me know if you have any further questions. I wish you all the very best Jayne with your recovery. Andrew
