BIOMIMICRY : An Introduction with Janine Benyus

Video courtesy of "TreeTV" (Tree Media).
Biomimicry, the practice of looking deeply into nature for solutions to engineering, design and other challenges, has inspired a film about it's ground-breaking vision for creating a long-term, sustainable world. This film covers how mimicking nature solves some of our most pressing problems, from reducing carbon emissions to saving water. The film, titled "Biomimicry" features Janine Benyus, is brought to you by Leonardo DiCaprio, Executive Producers Oliver Stanton, directed by Leila Conners, produced by Mathew Schmid and Bryony Schwan, created by Tree Media with Executive Producers Roee Sharon Peled and George DiCaprio. Thank you very much for this great presentation and for your nature loving spirit. It gives us some hope about our future. Very informative, help create mature humans. Surprised that I did not hear the word {evolution} after every other word, typical of this kind of documentaries. Thanks for sticking to the fact and scientific none destructive discoveries. Also, as an adjunct, one needs to study the way indigenous humans live. When we speak about ourselves it is always in the context of modern human society - the reason why you are looking at your computer, or cellphone screen, right now. But there are people across the planet who live in such a way that they leave almost no footprint - they are at one with their world. I think we humans, as part of the biome of the earth, have actually learned to live as the other creatures around us. As an alternative to this biomimicry, why not also consider their way of life.

Nice and inspiring.. Commentes:1) I don't think we use sulfuric acid as solvent, 2)actually plant and micros produce a wide range of toxyc compound and use wide array of chemical element,3) according to recent research calcification in corals release co2 in the atmosphere...

There are no "species that have preceded us for billions of years". No species lives for such amount of time. If it's the whole evolutionary history of species that is meant, with all the ancestors and predecessors, then again the history of human species lasts for the same billions of years.
