"Opposing" politicians are friends with each other when the cameras are turned off, the Punch and Judy show is all a ruse for the plebs. Any other party would have acted similarly over Covid, or any other issue.

The tories will take the country down the same path to destruction as labour will. The conservatives will just get us there slightly slower, with slightly different rhetoric along the way. 🙄 Political theatre, bread and circuses.

Wether he has friends or not is completely irrelevant. But this is a stupid comment anyway. He simply could not be where he is without backing. If he treats his friends like his voters, then I guess they won't be backers for long, we'll see how the so called 'mood' of the country changes.

Boris is a clever politician who adapts his position to fit with the mood of the times and the majority. The majority are not right wing on all issues and this is what frustrates many on the right is that he's not riddled with dogma and is not into echo chambers where it's all about having people around him who all think the same and who all tell him the same thing. I didn't vote for him but can't see him losing the next election he has a lot of people who understand how difficult managing the Pandemic has been and still is to this day.

Johnson has always struck me as someone who has very few firm principles with regards to either his private or political life. This is not necessarily a bad thing. However, Johnson has fast turned what could have been a plus into a horrendous minus. Knowing virtually bugger all about anything, ( a 2nd in the Classics, what else do you expect? ) while not having an instinct to do the right thing or any real-life experience as a child, as Thatcher did, results in Johnson needing to be well advised by honest people who actually know what they are doing. Johnson's advisors certainly know what they are doing, the problem is that NONE of them are honest or have the countries interests at heart, to say the least. EVIL, as evil gets, would be a more accurate description. However, a nefarious bunch of wholly self-interested, establishment-owned, fascistic communists on a mission from Hell, would be a more detailed one. Cummings is a bit of a paradox. He is very smart, in that he instinctively does not trust the civil service and perhaps his heart is in the right place, but when it comes down to it he also knows bugger all. He also thinks that asking what seem to be outside experts and trusting them to give honest disinterested advice is the way to go. BIG, BIG mistake, indeed a bigger one is difficult to imagine. In times such as these, what this country needs is a leader who instinctively knows what the right thing to do is, and has the balls to actually do it. Someone that fears the wrath of God, more than that of the civil-service, Guardian or the BBC. Having a high IQ is never enough, and neither is owning a Ph.D. God will always set you right, but you have to listen to your heart to hear the message, more commonly known as COMMON SENSE.
