Binging with Babish: World's Most Expensive Mc10:35 from Archer

This week, Sterling Archer strikes again with another overpriced, overindulgent masochistic mash-up: the world's most expensive Mc10:35. A sandwich normally concocted from an egg McMuffin and a McDouble, Archer decides to cobble one together from some otherwise-relatively-thoughtful canapés. Will it live up to the superspy's reputation? Probably.

A Mc10:35 comes from the days when McDonald's stopped serving breakfast at 10:30 and started serving lunch. You would go at 10:35 when they still had McMuffin's sitting around before they are thrown out, but McDouble's are coming out. You get one of each and through the beef patty and cheese on the McMuffin.

You're right on what a Mc10:35 is, but where it gets it's name is from the fact that some McDonald's restaurants will break the "no breakfast past 10:30" rule by taking left over breakfast items and logging them as bigmacs. The way torta del casar is usually eaten is that you cut off the top part of the wheel ,which will act as lid if you do not eat it all in one sitting. Then you place the open wheel in the oven so that it warms a little and is a bit more runny (it is already kind of soft so you do not need to melt it with a hight temperature). And then you use the wheel kind of how you would use a founde: place it in the middle of the table and dip bread on it. It is amazing cheese but it is not for everybody

Torta del Casar was a Queso from the Shep`herds of a quite speficic and small area in Spain… it was a "bad cheese" because it wasn't fully formed and firm, hence this cake-y form, and that's why it was called "torta". Of course, it has grown from one peasants cheese nobody wanted to one of the finest cheese's in the world :) Love to see Spanish ingredients, even it it's to "diss them" ;)

Now, what I know as "speck" (from east-European/Slavic heritage)is more like a delicate tinned parcooked fatback best served fried, seasoned with a dash of salt and a hearty scratch of black pepper. Or, frequently, found in the ration packs of former Soviet states as an alternative to tushenka or the usual assortment of pasztet. I wonder if that's just an English corruption of a different word (a la "horseradish") or just the same word used to describe different things regionally (like the way the English call lemon lime sodas "lemonade").
