The full upgrade of both the Alpha One speakers and the Premium Amp isn't a small process, and I get asked all the time: Was it worth it?
Even initially I could hear the huge difference the speakers made, but it was the recent rental car for a week, that on my return really emphasized how GREAT this upgrade really is!
I feel that if you are going to do this, do it right, do the full set of both speakers and amp. Only then are you going to get the full experience but also tie in the excellent sound design work from Bimmertech. They will work with you and custom tune your amp to your music tastes and layout of your car and how you drive. Really impressive honestly and make this a true custom solution just for you.
Was it worth it? Absolutely yes!

Sounds great! This will be one of my next mods. I should notice a big difference. I currently just have the stock set up.

Are the chimes and gongs amplified as well?

No they are not, so good there.
Is there a dramatic increase in overall volume aswell?

Hey, hope your doing well. I have a 3 series F30 and have the base system. (no tweeter in the rear doors) I plan on upgrading to Alpha One. What materials would I need to buy for soundskin?

Great choice in both cases! For soundskins, it depends on how far you want to go. Check my soundskins videos but I would do at least stage 2, as I described it. Stage 3 and 3+ is truly amazing though and worth the effort.
Hey i have a 2016 435i xdrive and the people at Bimmer tech said my car is incompatible with their amp due to my car having the harmon kardon fiber optic wiring. Did you have this prior to the alpha one upgrade? Would just using the upgraded speakers be fine with the harmon kardon amp?

Just the speakers alone is worth it and I highly recommend it. Also check out my recent Soundskins stage 1 and 2 videos as I would do that at the same time. The difference will be night and day better.

So you can probably do anything with the right gear, and knowledge of setup. That said, one of the huge advantages of this system is its all plug n play, easy install and huge performance gains. I wouldnt look to add other components unless you have a driving need.
I am thinking about getting just the amp(for now) for my 2020 X3 xdrive30e with the HiFi sound system…. Do you think it will make a difference?

Massive difference but honestly do the speakers first if you have Hifi. The amp on those speakers is wasted and the difference with the Alpha ones will blow your mind. They have a black Friday sale ending soon.. use BF2022STEFAN for an added discount code asap

I installed the Match up amp (same amp as the bimmertech) with the hifi stock speakers, a sub amp and dual 10s, had it professionally tuned and it’s amazing. Absolutely no reason to spend the money and hassle to change the speakers. The shop that installed it typically does very expensive full installs and told me that they didn’t recommend new speakers because emotionally I wanted new speakers too. The power, tune and added true sub in the trunk is all you need for audiophile sound: there’s only so much sound you can get out of 4” speakers no matter who makes them.

If you were to only upgrade the Amp or the speakers which one would you go for? Which one made the bigger change in audio quality for you?

I would do both honestly as it's 1+1=3 when they are all together. If I could only do one, I would start with the speakers. Also make SURE to check out my soundskins videos as those make a massive difference as well with upgraded speakers
I have e90 with hi fi sound I’m so wondering if this upgrade is much better ?

Yes.. the base speakers, Hifi or even the Harmon kardon are only ok. The difference with these over oem is dramatic

I was able to add all the speakers to my cart but have no idea how to buy the amp. I don’t know what I’m missing?

For older BMW models (E.g. E90), the Bimmertech amp isn't compatible. Audiotech provides BMW-specific amps compatible with older cars if you're still interested.
