Because of his stellar picking, it's easy to kind of forget what a great singer Billy is. This should cure that.

He is only mediocre as a vocalist as he has no real soul in his singing; it is feigned. IF he really wanted to honor Doc Watson, then Billy would stop smoking marijuana and go to church like Doc Watson did and embrace Jesus Christ. Then he might amount to something of value from what he might learn there. As he is now, he probably will not see 40, and the folks following him as a "bluegrass" player will get bored and move back to rock.

@@andronikostheophilosbilly’s a born again christian, my man. willie’s 90 and still getting stoned. billy’s voice is fine, i don’t think he’s amazing, but he’s definitely got some vocal chops. i also won’t get bored of bluegrass, i’m so glad this man reintroduced me to the genre with a new perspective. chill out.

@@andronikostheophilos hope your life gets better man. sounds like you may navigating a rough patch 🙂 I wish you peace, I bet Billy would to. He's about as humble and kind as they come....he had a super tough upbringing, fought through a lot of despair, poverty, death, drugs, and hopelessness..but came out the otherside and playing his way to great things. Smoking pot is no big deal...it ain't meth!! Have a great night ✌

Good job on that clawhammer. I’m from Pocahontas County in WV, and grown up in the real music of old time and bluegrass. You’re coming along, brother, getting stronger and stronger all the time. Lean a little more to it that thumb hammering down and the top will ring like a new day, every time. You are bringing the bluegrass that I grew up with with so much love and drive and light. Love this. Welcome to come down here anytime you want to go deep in old time. You got that true old time in your claw. Be fun for you to get deep with it. Come anytime. Seriously. It’s a big powerful music.

If there's one thing i miss about the 60s & 70s is the hymn singing. Churches changed over to singing praise choruses in the late 80s into the 90s. Thank you Billy

Instrumental - The Earl Scruggs/Bela Fleck of this generation Vocals - The Lester Flatt/Bill Monroe of this generation I can remember those individuals bringing "Bluegrass" to the forefront and the birth of "fiddler's" conventions across the South. Billy is as good with vocals as he is with the flat top... amazing!

I think this music is rising- of course because it is great, and because this country is betraying its dream and the weight of that hearkens back to hard hard times
