    Ive had 3 DRZ's , i built two of them into beautiful adv / enduro bikes. I loved those bikes , just solid as a rock. In the end I got tired of picking them up so i ride orange now. How KTM gets so much power out of something so light just amazes me. Ive never had an issue and its never stranded me anywhere but i just dont have the confidence in it I had with the Dizzers when im out in the middle of nowhere.

    Awesome video mate👍 Traction was bloody terrible. A couple of psi out of the rear tyre might have been worth giving a try. Also a good alternative to those dehydrated meals is Ontrack meals, they are not dehydrated and so much better. They do a slow cooked steak and its the bomb. Cheers for sharing 🍻

    Another great vid Josh! Enjoy the editing 💪 Just a thought with the gearing. I know everyone loves the 15:44 combo but personally I think it's a bit high for the slow technical stuff (like Billy Goats) I run 14:42 if I know I'm tackling some harder tracks and carry a 15 front sprocket for transport section, only takes less than 10mins to change it over. Best of both worlds. Keep up the good work🤙 Lukey

    @@_JoshJB_ drop to a 14-47 and those steep sections would have been a lot easier as your torque band increases at lower speeds so the bike will pull up easier - especially with the loading you guys were carrying. I only ever put a 15 on mine if I'm riding road or high speed gravel due to that reason (but still with the 47 rear). Great video though, really looking forward to more. Wonder what Lance was running? Looks like he also had a lot of trouble in that last video he posted in the Blue Mountains.

    @@jasonshrieves4467 I know mate. I contemplated going back to stock gearing for the trip but I didn’t think it would matter too much. I was wrong. Lance had the same gearing but having the big bore kit he just had a bit more power down low compared to me.

  • @andrewarnott6112
    @andrewarnott61123 ай бұрын

    You need to learn to use and properly slip the clutch, while your still moving not just after you have already stopped. It keeps the revs where they need to be to prevent the low speed stalls. Its not the gearing. This is not an attack its friendly advice. Nice vid

  • @_JoshJB_

    @_JoshJB_

    3 ай бұрын

    It was gearing, I’ve changed it to be better for faster riding but should have dropped it back closer to stock for this sort of steep riding. Yes I could rode the clutch which I ended up doing but gearing was not up to it here, as you can see from how much I had to ride the clutch to get started again on a hill.

    Fuck the old Farm bike off for an Eduro or adventure bike. learn how to take off on a steep hill because u dont tackle the 1st 6 feet of it vertically, u take off hard 90degree to the track, click 2nd during a hard left and hit the hill, click 2nd gear with some momentum and power through with a controllable gear, clutch slipping your way up.

  • @_JoshJB_

    @_JoshJB_

    My gearing was not setup for the challenge of the steep hills, had to use 1st gear most of the time. No chance of the DRZ going anywhere. It’s a great adventure bike

  • @mifo2000

    @mifo2000

    @_JoshJB_ yeah seeing you yous first was a bit rough. And trying to take off facing the hill while on it wasnt making your life easier.. I'd just roll back so I'm 90 degree to the hill. Take off in first and get a tiny bit of momentum. Click 2nd gear while turning into the hill at 5-10kph and powering up. I do have to say the brand new drz remind me of old heavy Honda Xr400 and 600s. Reliable as fuck but heavy and slow Compared to a light ktm 350 or 450 with a long range tank that helps keep the front wheel down

    Having owned both a drz400e and a WR250R I can say in my opinion the WR250R is a far better bike in every respect except HP..but in no way does the drz's extra power make up for all the strengths of the WR250R. If you want to do it all with ease, buy a WR250r and forget about the extre few HP because that isn't going to help you offroad one little bit.

  • @ausforce1

    @pedrofernandes9624 The drz is terrible for long distances because of its five speed gearbox, which just isn't wide enough for cruising. The WR250R has a wide ratio 6 speed.. it wins.
