I completely agree - their reaction of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter is also one of my favs. He’s so eloquent with his analysis yet is brave to show vulnerability with feeling all the emotions within a song

the greatest blew me off my feet. i thought i would never feel again how i felt when i heard the happier than ever transition for the first time but this song gave me that same feeling and to do that twice as an artist without anything lacking is so impressive.

I’ve been binge watching reacts videos since this album came out and yours is my favorite so far! So much attention to detail, so much emotion! And i LOOOVE what you said in bittersuite about how the beginning of the album was like tight vulnerable and clear and as the love broke the songs became more and more unreliable, all over the place. It gave me a whole new perspective on this album and i loooove it!! Billie has mentioned the greatest being “the heart of the album” and how important it was to make it and how the album kind was put together around that. And following what you said, it makes sooo much sense, cause the greatest was big belt, lots of emotion like she’s spitting it all out and from then on everything changed. Blue at the end really summed it all up and the strings tied it all together playing at the end of blue, end of skinny and the bridge on the greatest. GENIUS!

What I really loved is that this whole album sounds like one big song. There are so many melodies that are in multiple songs. The greatest melody is in a few, blue too and blue itself is a whole overlook and conclusion about everything. Its just genius. I loved it.

This album is Everything. My favorite is "L'Amour de ma Vie", the best is "The Greatest", "The Diner" is a guilty bop, "Lunch" slaps, and "Blue" is a masterpiece.

Been watching reax videos all day and this is far and away my favourite. Thanks for the thoughtful insights and unmitigated joy and being moved to tears (me too!!). What a transcendent, fierce, cheeky, vulnerable, devastating and beeeaauuuutiful record. Holy shit. How lucky are we to have Finneas the genius and Billie the bold, beautiful, brilliant, and brave making music in our time. Top 5 ... in order of appearence, Skinny, Chihiro, The Greatest, L'amour de Ma Vie, and Blue.

This is the first video of yours that I've watched. I loved the little things you noted as you listened to each song and then you had great insightful interpretations after absorbing the lyrics afterward. Well done! My personal favorite song is The Greatest. Just like Happier Than Ever, there's that moment that gives me chills every time I hear it.

The Diner is my favoritttee. Anyone else who loves the creepy vibe, Diner is giving Airport Song by Guster, and Go-Getter Greg by Ludo. The diner is written from her stalker's perspective. He broke into her house and sent her letters with 💀 threats. She also mentions this in a part of her song NDA "Got a stalker walking up and down the street, says he's Satan and he'd like to meet" Also, the outro of BITTERSUITE is part of the song 'true blue' which is a very old inedited song of her. So BLUE is actually two songs, first part is 'true blue' and the second part is 'born blue' which didn't make it to the HTE album. THE GREATEST album ever! 💙

Love this album, not a bad song on it, listened to it non stop since yesterday. Love SKINNY, doing the same thing with her voice she did in What was I made for, LOVE IT!

The Greatest had my balling for hourssssss

My top five are (in no specific order) "WILDFLOWER" "CHIHIRO" "L'AMOUR DE MA VIE" "THE GREATEST" "BLUE" This was very difficult to do because the entire album is 10/10, they all deserve to be in the top 5

Loved it.. Favorite is Birds of A Feather, tho so untypical of her sound. When she mentions the other girl in Wildflower being free and in leather might reference the fact Billie is vegan, not a leather wearer. I think Billie felt like she had crossed the line betrayed the girl, consoling her as a friend during her breakup and then dating the guy herself.

Love your analysis as always, my perspective of the greatest (my favourite from the album) was not of sarcasm but of self appreciation, instead of self deprecation she’s matured to a level where she isn’t embarrassed about everything she did in longing but rather content with how great she is, in a genuine way like she’s realised she’s pining after someone/people she’s too good for, maybe this isn’t about the specific person even but rather a trend of her approach to relationships as a whole? I say that because it’s so much less angry or sad than any of her previous songs about relationships yet saying the same thing of her being too good for them but like in happier than ever she was angry and this time she’s almost laughing at how it doesn’t matter she knows she’s the greatest she knows she goes above and beyond for her relationships, perhaps in an unhealthy way like the obsession you spoke of and at her own detriment we’ve seen in the past but she already addressed those flawed habits she takes on in relationships in her previous album and this time she’s focused on the pride of being too good for them, not in an egotistical way but in a positive acceptance way, she still has those problems she needs to address in herself but to me she isn’t addressing them directly in that song or this album because that’s a long term goal, she’s in her early 20s she’s learning it doesn’t happen in an album or in a year and that’s okay she doesn’t need to worry right now she can recognise that and then currently focus on this growing confidence she has, this album radiates confidence to me, a totally new level of confidence she hasn’t shown in her music before, self aware genuine confidence too not cocky just content with herself as a whole all her flaws and all her amazing qualities, which i think would match well with her life currently, we’ve seen her grow and she had this fake confidence when she was young, then became vulnerable showing us her insecurities as a young adult and now she’s finding some real confidence as a human. I’ve got autism so my view might be totally wrong I often over read into things😅also the whole thing in the album with her obsession over a girl, your theory was maybe she’s had some kind of love triangle and maybe it’s an ex but I actually think it’s not someone she’s even dated, she said how she’s falling for a friend it’s a good sign, I think this is all about a close friend she’s had for a long while who she has this healthy relationship with and now recently has begun having romantic feelings towards them which she’s excited/ nervous about because she knows she can trust this person so it’s exciting but navigating a change in a close relationship is hard especially if this person doesn’t know their sexuality yet as billie only came to terms with hers this past year. I think there isn’t a love triangle but rather she’s just very jealous of the ex of this friend, if she’s got this big crush on this friend and maybe the mutuality of it is unclear because it sounds like the friend has recently broken up from a relationship and maybe doesn’t know their sexuality confidently yet and billie being their friend probably was supporting them through this break up, the crying on my shoulder, all whilst unsure when to explore her feelings to this person, maybe they’ve had one or a few romantic interactions but nothing committed, as u said the straight tease sought of thing, the feelings are there they’re being expressed but not in any clear committed way so then billie doesn’t know where the line of friendship and flirting is drawn, some days feeling like they’re becoming more than friends, maybe she recently made her feelings known I mean if I’m right at all then she definitely has with this album lol but maybe that’s there in the air and so her seeing everything through this romantic lens but not clear on when or by how much it’s being reciprocated, it’s exciting to have that crush almost teasing you like giving you that exciting giddy dopamine thinking it’s being reciprocated while still in that “the chase” phase but sometimes she’s then pushed away which might bother her bringing these feelings of jealousy like when the friend is crying over her ex again going through those motions while billie was expecting more flirting, it’s very back and forth unclear which can be both frustrating and exciting feeding into more of that obsessive kind of view. So yeah not a love triangle but just jealously and also curiosity over this ex since Billie’s only recently come to terms with her sexuality and probably was hanging out with the ex and friend when they were together so it must be strange to navigate, can’t help but compare their relationships and herself to the ex but as she says she knows her and the ex are so different there’s no point comparing and she has this new found confidence that keeps all these confusing feelings from becoming something dark, just things she’s feeling and exploring throughout the album in finding herself. Sorry I’m awful at keeping things brief I’ve written my own essay here💀thank you to anyone who reads it I’d love to hear your opinions, but yeah to me the album is a self awareness and acceptance of herself as a whole human having flaws while also being fing awesome and how does this new view of herself influence her emotions and experiences with these new relationships she’s exploring and her newfound understanding of her sexuality, to me it sounds so mature and positive that she knows she has these issues but they’re not overwhelming her she’s just optimistically learning and allowing herself to grow! And musically this is my favourite album yet :D

*if wildflower is about Jesse and not one of her female friends then that’s a totally different narrative of betraying a mutual friend by dating him after supporting her through their breakup than I’d initially heard it as a female friend she’s trying to initiate something with, that might make more sense as my theory on the friend being unsure about their sexuality makes less sense if their ex is a woman like the lyrics suggest and the indication of guilt would also align better with that narrative so I’m second guessing my first take now

Also two references in Chihiro you might have missed: - "Said you won't forget my name" = Chihiro must remember her name to get out of the bath house and Haku is still searching for his name - "Saw you turn around, but it wasn't your face" = reference to the "No-Face" character And my top 5: 1. Wildflower....to me seems to be about guilt....and inner insecurities that aren't particularly caused by Jealously....but more by Karma. The more the person tries to reassure her that they really love her...the more that negative karma ferments.
