The young guns of now are going to be nowhere near as close as Efren was at his prime. The closest thing to great is going to be a young kid named Anton Raga. Even then, he is nowhere close to how Efren was when he was his age.

Reyes plays in another zone -- higher than the others despite their greatness. He sees shots, banks, angles, kicks, feathering, and speed control way beyond what they see. That makes him unbeatable by anyone ...unless by unforced error, which is rare.

jlloydb1of9 : You can get very fine partials on the ball 🎱 which will throw the ball off is why you need to clean the ball when it goes off the table. Even if the ball stays on the table. You get particle from off the nap on the table . Or fine chalk particles or chalk dust from the table. Allowing your ball or cue balls to wobble off sink. And not making the ball in the pocket OK.Rackem Up! 🎱

Don't shorten the races, simply show the single match in 2 parts if you must. Poker tournaments are doing this all the time. Show the match from 0-0 until 6-4, and then show the second part later. Or you could do as the IPT tried and show parts of many matches being played at the same time, key shots, good outs, in the final 8 on the A-side you could follow each of the 4 matches showing only parts of each of those and in that regard breaking a match up does not make it so discontinuous.

You could sure see the level that these guys are at with the duel over the 1 ball on the very first rack--really, the most exciting/impressive playing in the entire match. Schmidt got cold sitting for so long (Reyes was up for about 4-5 racks, almost steadily). Then, Schmidt choked because he got "cold," and talked himself out of it. You could see him lose his confidence--only because he sat too long. Except for the few blatant screw-ups, this was STRONG playing from both these guys.

It's called hustling when Efren does it, lots of rail-birds don't catch that when Mr Reyes is competing. He definately did it in this match, soon after he had established himself as the Alpha Dog in Schmit's mind-set. A bit later he begins to reel them in and gives them one more last chance. And next they often fold-up (mentally-broken) and only-then, he goes on claim the win. He turns matches into a visual feasts for us all.

here is an example of a very good event being broadcast to viewers around the world via KZread with some top participants playing a great tournament but the creation of this event is extremely poorly structured with a very loud megaphone off in the distance so laud that even the commentators of the players at hand could not be heard. This is some of the worst examples of a totally lack of foresight in promoting TV Pool championship viewing. where did they get these guys who planned (and I am being very kind to assume they did plan this event) who put together such a poorly ran event totally not respecting the players or the fans. Utterly unforgivable and should be fired.

As a former sound tech, I can say that the problem you point out has really nothing to do with the planning, but with the camera crew. The top of that building is a good place to build standing waves, which, if you notice, the megaphone voice is boomy. If you listen to the commentators voice recording , it sounds like they are using omnidirectional microphones. That sir, is the problem here. However, it is usually a good idea for commentators to do that. Why? It picks up the ball clicks, audience response, etc with fewer microphones, and therefore, less total noise due to less channels. Northern Danny D nor the mediocre guest commentator are audio engineers. Why does that matter? Anyone I. Front of a microphone should realize that background noise is goi g in alongside your voice. Singers, narrators, etc. Recording professionals…. The whole problem could be solved with phasing, as the out of phase signal from one mic would “cut” the background noise of the normalized mic. To make matters worse, the mic signal is running through a compressor of some kind, which cuts the loudest signal a bit and brings out lower signals in the mix :). This is compounded by the fact that the room is boomy. Why? Lower frequencies blow right through a cheap compression circuit. PA system-2, microphone-0. The knowledge I just shared is not common, to say the least. Most filming crews, accu-stats included, don’t know that u less there is a sound guy present :) Chances are, the voices over the speaker, that drown out the commentators, was not anywhere near as loud as the recording makes it seem. The “new look” of the arena at the time contrasted the “old look” of the Sands, WPBA tournaments of the 90’s. Why does that matter? The cloth on the front row seats, along with the wood tables they sat on, dampened sound. The newer hard-coated countertop look of the era this video was from, reflected sound. Considering that, and the fact that this was among the first of the wave of tournaments to adopt that look, it is understandable that it turned out like it did. Accu-Stats, OTR, whoever is reading this, if you want a guy that can give you sound, hit me up.
