I haven't been listening to the charts lately. My time has been taken up listening to every week of Breakdown up to this point and collecting my thoughts. Currently up to June 27, 2015 (the week Can't Feel My Face debuted).

Did you know that Thinkin' Bout Me is still in the Spotify Top 50? Yes, really. And it'll probably be there forever too. Don't know why when so many people are in a situation where they can listen to almost any song in the world for completely free and just as easily as every other song, they pick that as one of their choices to spend over a year on that chart over any other piece of music like Good Thing by Reel Big Fish too. Point is that it's not a song that stuck around because of radio play and nothing else. People actually wanted to listen to it. My Love Mine All Mine is also still in that chart, and that's W.

Crazy how Hozier is performing really well after not seeing success since take me to church which was almost a decade ago, not just that but during a Future and Metro Boomin album bomb

Interesting ... it's one of my favorites from the album as well (and I mean, I'm just a sucker for fairy tale references in general, so I was pretty much bound to like it), but I'd still call We Don't Trust You my favorite from the album over it, if only because the production might be the best thing Metro Boomin has ever done, the play on Metro Boomin's famous tagline is a lot of fun, and petty me delights in the shots fired at Drake. The album's excellent in general in my view, and I really hope its tracks (especially the fantastic tracks on the first half - I do feel that the last few tracks weren't as impressive and that the project is kind of dragging towards the end. They could've cut it at Ain't No Love to have a shorter but more pointed and consistently amazing project in my book.) survive the Beyoncé album bomb.

"Too Sweet" is going to get absolutely beaten into the ground by TikTok, isn't it? I'm trying not to be too much of a hipster about it (if nothing else, Andrew deserves the money), but I'm still dreading the prospect of yet another song I like being turned into meaningless background noise through a mix of irony and endless repetition.

We Don't Trust You completely blew me away, I never would've imagined liking a Future album from 2024 but wow

Noah Kahan too, he's basically solo Mumford & Sons. Dial Drunk and Stick Season could've been hits in 2013 and were/are hits in 2023, but likely couldn't have been hits in 2018 halfway between those two years.

Honestly, I don't know if my adoration of Future and Metro Boomin's current chart presence amounts to Metro Boomin just being one of my all-time favorite producers, a rapper that I feel many people have dismissed in a bit of a close-minded manner getting the kind of success and acclaim he deserves with some really strong flows and pointed jabs, or petty glee at seeing Drake take blow after blow. Probably a bit of all three. We Don't Trust You, though I doubt that it's actually gonna stick around and become a bona-fide hit, is genuinely one of the best things I've heard all year and arguably the best beat Metro Boomin has ever made.

You're not wrong about "So American" being a weaker song but it does make for kind of a poignant closer to the deluxe version of the album - after all the angst and heartbreak and self-destructive chaos throughout the album, her finally finding a healthy relationship that excites her is a nice happy ending. Kind of like what "Mastermind" served as on Midnights - the artist finally finding some peace.

My Opinion Of This Week New Arrivals: WOTW1: Best For Me- I like Jelly Roll but why in the Nine hells did they make his Voice sounds so Chipmunked, It's really bad WOTW2: La People II- again the topic drug trafficking in songs like this bother me and Plus it sounds very generic WOTW3: Slow It Down- This guy can not do a falsetto why are they making him do that DM1: Corazon de Piedra- The Spanish Guitar sounds so messy, the acoustic sound really rough DM2: Slimed In- Bland DM3: Type S***- This is boring s*** DM3: Ice Attack- Future on Codine, I thought he wasn't doing that, I don't like this HM: Cinderella- This is OK BOTW1: Punteria- Disappointed we didn't get Shakira album bomb, but I'm happy this song charted, also the new album is great vast improvement from El Dorado BOTW2: I like the way you kiss me- ooooo, I like this synthpop production, I might check out more from Artemis. BOTW3: All New Olivia Rodrigo songs- This are fantastic sounds I'm glad they were release BOTW4: Young Metro- Now this song goes hard BOTW5: We don't Trust You- A very strong album opener BOTW6: All 3 New Hozier Songs- This is very strong EP, I'm glad Hozier is getting this large chart traction BOTW7: Like That- Very hard production this is really great Wow, it's a busy week Next Week: Miss Cowboy Carter is gonna stanpeed on the Hot 100, That's gonna be interesting

For the second week on vacation, we see the Hot 100 get disrupted with a collaboration album and two deluxe albums, but will get replaced by Beyonce next week. Let's see if any song in the bubbling under has a chance to break through: 1. Take Her Home by Kenny Chesney (+10) (This might've gotten the album boost but I'm not sure on that.) 2. smoke and a light by Ole 60 (+14) 3. Halfway To Hell by Jelly Roll (-2) 4. Truth Or Dare by Tyla (Re-Entry) (I'm not surprised it rose from the album release, and given that I have heard it just recently, I can say it is one of the better songs off of it and hope it crosses over.) 5. Damn.... Future and Metro Boomin getting an album bomb with a pretty damn solid album, Hozier having a stable Top 5 hit for the first time since 2014, Morgan Wallen's 2023 songs FINALLY being gone, along with other 2023 hits that have long outlasted their welcome, Olivia Rodrigo landing songs with her deluxe version of Guts, and Beyonce's country album coming next week?!! Aight, looks like 2024 is FINALLY starting, and I am SO excited to see what comes next! I certainly hope it'll be an improvement over the miserable blandness that was 2022 and the all over the place mixed bag that was 2023 as it goes on!

As for you, you didn't start until the day after my 19th birthday on December 14th, 2014, with the freakin' "Coco" song that drove you nuts (same here back in the day).
