This must’ve been a great show with Sir Bill Withers on here. Back when artists could sing as good on stage as in the studio.

Bill's one of the greatest voices EVER! And he didn't even make his first album until he was 33! His story is incredible! RIP to a legend! It's amazing all the great one's Johnny had on The Tonight Show!

Bill Withers was married to beautiful Denise Nicholas an actrees. Withers flew to a town where Nicholas was working on a movie, went to the hotel, and beat the crap out of her. She filed for divorce, they had been married a year. You know one is committed to wife beating when he drove to the airport, flew in the plane, drove to her hotel room, and not at any time he thought that was a bad idea. His second marriage didn't last very long either. Nice voice piece of sh*t of a man.

Bill Withers had no ambition to be an "entertainer." He wasn't going to dance or tell jokes, so you had to like him on his own terms. And millions of us certainly did.

There was NO ONE quite like Bill Withers. He was the full package, voice, style, writer, and he was rather entertaining with Johnny on this clip. When Bill Withers was on the radio, we all listened, every time, to the very last note.

I can only describe his voice as pure and powerful. Thanks for posting. On a side note, I could never understand why so many hosts of that era made such a big deal of promoting a guest’s album. Just hold up the cover and give the name of the album. I think they all had some meaningless moral code about hawking a product. Meanwhile, their entire salary was based on selling ads. Anyway, another great one from the JC archives.

I've always been a physical worker because I figure I am going to be paid if I get hurt on the job. But when I used to work out in the gym and if I got hurt I wasn't going to get paid for my injury if I got hurt working out in the gym. But I like to write music and poetry too. I now know even though I am not a young person now but, I can still perform work wise and work out in the gym like no one I know at my current age. But I have always really enjoyed writing songs and poetry. And I can and have always been able to sing and play and have played so many different musical instruments past and currently. Maybe I will consider changing my career and become a musical entertainer

And just all around s***** introduction
