"And Joaquin, I'm sorry you couldn't be here tonight." LMAO!!! Classic Dave.
Loved seeing these two together. Bill Murray was Letterman’s ultimate guest and Jimmy is his heir apparent!
God, please let Bill murray live more long years we deserve a kind of man like him on this world #LEGENDARY 👏👏
I grew up loving Bill Murray, I wish he and my parents would live forever.

What a lovely thought 🙏🏻
This is the most straight forward Bill Murray that I have ever seen. It is is fitting and warranted that it is for his appreciation of Letterman.
Bill and Jimmy are two of the best bunch.
It's nice to see Bill Murray pop up in familiar places. He's always been relevant in comedic circles.
Man, you can tell how much Bill loves Dave here. He's so damn happy talking about him
Favorite bit was with the science kids. No one was funnier at the time talking to kids than Letterman. Kimmel has learned from Dave quite well in this regard. His kid bits are funny too.
I love Bill Murray!
Bill Murray is a genuine American Treasure. I'd love to meet that guy.
My favorite was when Letterman had Don King on and Letterman's first question to King was "So Don, what's with the hair?". I busted out laughing at that one.
@tontoepstein6860

Technically it was, "What do you suppose the deal is with Don's hair?" And it was at the end of a 10-minute interview in 1982 (back when Letterman used to be great), it wasn't the first question.

Dr. TJ But isn't that the most obvious intro? I think so. Nobody has ever said anything about King's hair for that very reason. It's like the cheap shot or easy one. I don't think it's funny nor was it germaine to what he's known for which is, a boxing promoter. You must have split a gut watching The Three Stooges back in the day.
Bill Murray is a subtle magic thats got totoal power comedically
Two very funny men . .need more of this in our lives!!
Favorite Letterman skit, the Velcro suit.
Have lived half my life in NYC and CGO and both are awesome. Being raised in NYC and having some pretty famous offspring bars, that i have no reason to mention, as a kid I've met some crazy and amazing characters. Chicago, has so many and most are from the fringe suburbs. Bill came from Wilmette, Jesuit schooled, and yes gang, that's important for many reasons but he's the ultimate Chicago best and this interview along with Kimmel is really cool
I feel like we owe all of the fantastic Conan remotes in part to Letterman who started it off by working at Taco Bell and whatnot. He was the original!

Very true and Dave absolutely pioneered the way it should be done. But you would agree that Conan has mastered it as well, right?

dude, that Taco Bell part, when the customer was SCREAMING at him through the drive-thru. holy crap, still funny
Wow, when Bill said towards the end: ... (not) a vacation from your problems, but..." all I could think was, a shout-out to 'What About Bob,' lol
I don't know why. I don't know how. But, Bill Murray, was and is one of the sexiest men to walk the earth.

parkviewmo I think its because Bill has the largest self confidence on earth, radiating miles away. I wish I was like him in that sense. And still Bill can laugh at himself, making it even better.

For sure! He’s intriguing, confident and doesn’t give a shit- no pretense. He’s real and soooo funny! I love his mannerisms and his boyish look despite his age. It’s in his eyes- a glint and a glimmer. I would think that if he found a woman interesting she really must be something extraordinary! I would think his admiration would be intoxicating. This is the kind of man that would make my clothes fall off- more than any hottie in Hollywood.

The best videos are the ones which include a good dissing of Shirley MacLaine.

Bill probably still actually lives in the area. He was clearly the happiest fan in the world when the Cubs won the series. Looked like he was going to cry when they cut to him at the end of the game.
Bill Murray is a man intensely trying to live the moments of his life.
Love.
lmao Bill Murray's little jab at Kimmel at the end seemed to go right over his head
Bill Murray was Dave's first guest on NBC and CBS.
Love you Bill, love you
Bill Murrayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!
"Everybody Loves Gunther" = best Letterman bit ever!
Love bill's saint paul saint's shirt.
To answer your question: Bill is wearing whatever the fuck he wants to.
Funny and interesting comments by both. Thanks for giving me a few chuckles.
Velcro suit, Alka-Seltzer tub, and throwing shit off of buildings = quintessential Letterman, in my book. That stuff still makes me laugh today.
What Kimmel says at 3:10 is so true for me as well.. Letterman rules
My most memorable was an exotic foods lady. Dave tasted the food and said " that's damn near edible"... I still quote it
Kimmel doesn’t deserve to share Bill Murray’s comedic air.
Bill just got into In Living Color
I want this guy's job.
I like watching Kimmel be blown away by chaos of bills view. ..
Kimmel was spot on about the one thing that pretty much is the difference between Letterman and Leno......If you were a guest of Davids and you were on Fire funny...He'd let you run with it and even help that person along too....where as Jay would actually try to be more funny as if he was insecure that his guest "just might" come off being funnier than Jay.....just my take. Cheers

Agreed. I think this is a fatal slaw of Conan and Jimmy Fallon. Neither can sit back and let the guest shine. They constantly try to hone in a bit or out-funny the guest. Kind of sad, really.
My favorite all-time David Leterman episode?: When Dave read a letter about Cher comparing the "the pink stuff" versus "the blue stuff" (giggles from Dave). Dave says "I think the blue stuff is Equal and the pink stuff is Sweet-'n-Lo. What do you think Paul?" Paul Schaffer responds "Dave, I think the pink stuff she referring to is Pepto Bismol", then he proceeds to pour Pepto Bismol on a bowl of cereal AND EAT IT!!! Well, I found it so hilarious... Gross Dude humor, I guess.
Bill Murray is old AF, but he is still cooler than me!

In fifth grade in Indiana, I set-up a David Letterman Wax segment. We had to pick Famous people from Indiana, too portray. I picked Dave, Now I am trying my first stand-up at 29. If I ever get the chance too say how much he inspired me, best believe I will...

Hey guys, I looked it up, and it turns out Gene Hackman is from San Bernardino, CA.
johnny carson was the purist late night talk show host, meaning that he was able to handle every situation with grace and laughter. david letterman was his equal, with a little more goofiness. of all the late night host, i dont believe there has been any of them more coveted than dave. johnny will always be considered the best because of his professionalism, but there was something about dave that made him...... special. the host today try to turn their shows into game shows, without any context of an interview. making the show fun doesnt have to be "lets play a game of ...(insert silly name here)". having bill and jimmy speak candidly (which i am assuming they did) here shows the respect they give dave. i salute them. dave, in my mind, will always be the best host. and im not sure where biff is, but i wont rest until i find him!!!
Did no one notice Bill Murray just referenced "What about Bob?" Talking about a vacation from problems?

Bill Murray. Legend. David Letterman. Legend.
In Dave We Trust.
Unfortunately Letterman never got the Mark Twain Award because it was instead sent to Dame Edna's house. Now Edna gives the award strange gazes as she drinks tea upon waking up.
3:49 Jimmy Fallon should take notes on this point

Mike Well it has been 40 years. I often wonder where Belushi would have been had he not died so young. And dear Gilda Radner. She was so funny and so sweet. Back then a guy named Trump was earning his wings as a backstabbing racist who nobody would have predicted would become president. Have you seen Chevy Chase lately? No resemblance to the other one.

At least Bill let himself age. He's not dying his hair black, or destroying his face with plastic surgery. He became an old man and he's embraced that. In this day and age that's worthy of respect.

Anyone notice the accidental What About Bob line???
I'd play the Rupert video game.
"What about that guy?"
A tuuk and StP Saints T-shirt!
0:30 For me, it's when he had Rupert out wearing an earpiece and he told him what to say. That was so hilarious, and then of course some asshole has to not get the joke and threaten Rupert so they had to stop doing it.

With all the Me Too stuff going on, if I were Letterman I don't think I's want to be in the spotlight right now.
0:26 what he say there? Something I’m getting at
I met him a couple of weeks ago. He chucked me a cold one and we had a chat. I have a video on my channel check it out!
Nice one. I'm the first!
Bill Murray hands look pretty big to me, and his wrists are pretty thick, like a farmer lol. @2:47 I had no idea Dave would do that, that's so cold lol, but you'd have to be pretty lame for Letterman to actually go there.
They drank the night before.
