I believe it’s bc to be funny and to know how to make ppl laugh you have to be truly empathic. To be selfless and a vessel to make others happy. Those ppl tend to be deeper in general.

It takes more intelligence than people realize to be truly funny. That’s also why none of the current late night talk show hosts are funny.

I clicked here thinking to laugh..I did of course.It's Bill Murray for Christ Sake..But he moved me to almost tears when his speech went into the part about caring about yourself & Others..Like he said "What a break..We're here alive.Pretty good right?"..Sometimes I forget that..So Cheers to everyone alive in 2020!

It's so perfectly Irish-Catholic to praise your brother and then tweak him in the same breath. God, he's a classic. As one of eight who adores his siblings (and from the same town as Bill Murray) this was perfect. What a pure treasure he is.

I was blown away on GroundHog Day. I was speechless when I saw Lost in Translation - he should have won the Oscar for that. His acting range makes me envious of his talent.

If you have never watched a video breaking down how long his character was in a time loop I would recommend it, it adds a bit more perspective to his character development.

Groundhog Day remains my all time favorite movie. It was the very first DVD I ever bought. I could watch that movie over & over.

Groundhog Day is basically a mainstream It's A Wonderful Life rural version of Scrooged. Scrooged should be regarded as the more important film but rural fantasy tends to be appreciated by more people than urban fantasy.

I love Bill Murray! This was a heartwarming speech. I think his best movies are Ghostbusters, St Vincent, and Groundhog Day.... although he is GREAT in everything he does!

You know this is a great speech about humble beginnings and thriving on the generosity and love of others. And Bill Murray is a great guy. But he’s also becoming a relic. Today we are about money. Period. Computers and algorithms are sterilizing us. It’s sad.

what a classic Bill Murray speech; I expected nothing less. I'd give a month's pay to be one of those nobodies who just happens to bump into him when he appears unexpectedly as he's famous for. thanks Bill for your body of work, Meatballs above all, IMO the Bill Murrayest of Bill Murray films (Groundhog Day a close second).......gnight Mickey and remember, it just doesn't matter

BILL MURRAY is an American Treasure and knowing him,he'll probably hate being called that but he is.His laid back comedic additude is 100%REAL.I've been a fan of his for years and he truly deserves the mark Twain award even though he says he Dreads getting one now that's real nothing fake about that.

He thanked his older brother and mentioned Harold Ramis . 😀

My enduring dream, Is to attend a celebrity golf tournament that Bill is attending, To see him walking up the fairway close enough for me to shout " Phil !.. Phil !!. He looks at me with a perplexed scowl. I say" Don't tell me you don't remember me because I sure as heck-fire remember you!". Bill, alert to the bit, then say's" Ned Ryerson?". The whole gallery, on cue, shouts " BING".
