Bill Maher on Larry King Live after "Politically Incorrect" is cancelled by ABC (2002)

It has been a long time coming but here it is, and in higher quality.
Enjoy!

These interviews are amazing to watch now. I remember watching some of them when I was in college back in the early 2000's but I have been binge-ing these Bill Maher/Larry King interviews for the past couple days. Bill and Larry have a great dynamic together and I can see why Larry enjoys having him on so often. You can tell that Larry is genuinely entertained by Maher. He gets legit belly-laughs during every interview.

Standard definition is standard definition, it didn’t really change a whole lot from the 80s to the 2000s, and this was recorded off a VHS to boot. Likewise, video quality hasn’t changed much in the HD era either, the rare 1080p video from 2004 looks identical to any 1080p video from 2024.

(I do think it's time that a women becomes president). Maybe she'll be able to get a cabinet position. Policy-wise Sanders is up and above Clinton in every way. I'm hopeful about Sanders winning the primaries. He's on the right track now with the recent debate.

I loved it then, I’m even agreeing with people back then who were saying things nobody at the time believed, which are things that have happened since then. Was the Simpsons really prescient? Politically Incorrect certainly was! Thanks to the poster of this video. Now I know why I have resentment towards Jimmy Kimmel. He replaced that show I loved. Jimmy Kimmel

Bill is truly Brilliant. Brilliantly talented, brilliantly funny brilliantly courageous and is a hell of a soldier. The 911 issue is an interesting one because it truly does raise a genuine debate which i can absolutely see both sides of the argument. Also being from England the issue probably doesn't cut to the nerve quite the same as it would if I was an American, although believe you me I was very upset and angry at the time. I really did share you guy's pain. I got to admit i've never heard Bill say what he said at 14.55 before about " the democrats nitpicking about what Bush knew.." I am surprised though and I disagree with him. I think that issue is VERY important. Maybe he's changed his mind since, especially after having to hear such crap from Republicans , and especially Republican Commentators. Lastly His " N word Joke". I think was Ill judged. I dont think there was any need to say such a thing, especially as it Really Was Not funny. It was a shame because Bill is such a warrior for minority's and anyone who suggest he's racist is clearly an absurd person. Apart from them couple of things though I think he's just GREAT and he is probably the person on TV that I agree with most, in fact I Never find myself disagreeing with him on ANYTHING. BIG RESPECT FROM ENGLAND BILL. I'LL ALWAYS BE A FAN MATEY ;-]

I pretty much agree with that assessment. I think he lapsed talking to Dyson, but it was very much not dropped as a slur, rather than just as an example. Ice Cube was on the following week, and gave a fairly stinging rebuke, without really denouncing Maher. The comment around 9/11 was as a reply to a guest, it wasn't ..wrong, but it got twisted as an attack on the USA Military personnel, which was never accurate.

He's tended to have put his head in the sand regarding the mega Rich n Republicans these days, but tbh he HAS done his bit now. @@Ryang403 In some context, I can't recall if it was Comedy Central, or ABC at the time that Politically Incorrect got 'cancelled' but I guess ABC. But it wasn't cancelled overnight from the comment. It was a slow leak of anyone that would advertise, until around 8 months later. If I ever think I've met someone that fully agrees with me on every issue, I'm basically talking to my mirror on the wall. Where (imo) things need to be rationalized, is where people are saying things they believe.. they may be wrong, but they aren't closed to being debated, and maybe have their views changed by a well presented argument / rebuttal. In that vein, I put my thoughts on Israel. I have views that do not fit many narratives, but I fully know there are people that are almost infinitely more learned on the subject.

At 23:00, crying wolf is what sunk the Lusitania. Every evening the British Admiralty issued a standard warning in Morse "Submarines active off of the Old Head of Kinsale" to the point where a seasoned mariner like Wm. Turner operated his ship in that very region at reduced speed due to fog and open portholes to invite in fresh air. Sadly six hours earlier a cargo vessel had been sunk in the same area by the same U-boat. The Admiralty's excuse: we had no capital ships available that could even keep up to the Lusitania at speed at which she should have been! And Turner got skewered!!!

4:15 - seems very similar to the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on CBS, one promotion in ten years was what Craig got from CBS, with hardly any budget and David Letterman whose production company made the show looked like he had no involvement or interest in the show, and when Craig said he was stepping down from the show in 2014 Letterman looked as he care about 1% about it.

ur 100 percent right, i think craig ferguson would have been great at 1130 slot. he made that whole show on no budget and even wrote and sang the opening he is so talented, funny, and a great interviewer.

But I think Craig preferred it that way? More $ = more pressure. But he doesn’t seem to hold a grudge about it, bill seems like he holding a bit of a grudge. Also, maybe not dave, but Craig did seem to be promoted a bit by cbs. Not a lot, but a little. No idea about bill Maher pi. Never actually watched the show on air

m d Elsewhere it is spelt with two, in order clearly to annul the question of how silent the following 'e' is. For example 'annulled' requires the double 'l' or it would sound like "annewled"

At 21:49, it is my belief that at the turn of the millennium, there was such anxiety about how computers would deal with everything going from 1999 to 2000 that the entire commercial airline industry didn't have one aircraft in the sky where the on-board computer would be confronted with that "00:00:00" scenario and how they would behave!!! That alone would make me consider Amtrak, as bad as it is. 😘

i don't presume to understand american humour certainly, but did I just hear Bill Maher saying "I think young people should be discouraged from voting?" among a lot of other things that I most definitely agree with. why, though, is Bill Maher angry with Russell Brand for following up on it?

+Lenny Bruce Because Maher doesn't believe that. Not sure what the context was when he said that, but he's been supporting the most progressive Democrats ever since. He contributed 1 M$ to Obama's campaign in '08, and even tried to "flip a district" on his show.

He doesn't think "YOUNG PEOPLE" should vote (listen to his exact words), because young people are not as informed as they should be. You need to live through some economic crisis and life crisis before you can understand what issues matter to you and how to relate them to the politicians promising you bullshit. So his position is different from Brand's, who maintains that NO ONE should vote. Brand has a very different perspective, and he's right as well, but his solution calls for much bigger overhaul of "the system."

No, you're wrong. In the aftermath of the attacks, U.S. President George W. Bush said that the terrorists responsible were cowards. In a Politically Incorrect episode on September 17, 2001, Maher's guest Dinesh D'Souza disputed Bush's label, saying the terrorists were warriors. Maher agreed, and replied: "We have been the cowards, lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, {it's} not cowardly."
