This guy was my frikken hero when I was a little kid. Seen almost every episode of his shows. Just out of the blue, I typed in "Bill Dance tutorial video" and found this. Such an enjoyable blast from the past. Thanks.

Solid gold Saturday morning memories! Love it when Bill somewhat uncheerfully demonstrates a great hook removal technique on his own hand and recommends the application of an antiseptic to "prevent the invasion of germs" while licking his wound with germ-ridden saliva (31:06)!! Great ironic humor.

One of my local lakes (a State Park) is about 240 acres and doesn't support any industry so the water level remains constant all year. In the fall/winter of 2020, the normal pool level was dropped about 6' so a handicap pier could be erected. When I arrived at the lake in the spring of 2021, my jaw dropped at the incredible amount of rock cover that had been exposed. I decided then and there to fish nowhere else in the county and instead concentrate on learning that particular body of water. I had the most successful Bass fishing season of my life.

Man bass fishing is so much different now. There was no whacky rig, drop shot, or neko fishing back then. We wouldn't dream of whacky rigging a worm back then. I just carried a couple worms and some spinner baits, and sometimes some shiners. Seems like back then bass always hit the head of a bait. I would use Mann 10" worms and they always hit the head where my hook was. I wasn't into crank baits back then. If I wanted to fish deep I just used a heavy Texas rig. I saw no point in buying expensive crank baits and could always keep up with friends that used crank baits.

MAN!!! Been a long time since I heard ole Black Max Mercury. That is the baddest sounding outboard ever!!!! IMHO. I don’t know why Mercury wants to make the motor quieter and quieter. Unless your running your big motor while fishing the engine sound has no effect on your fishing. Besides that the fish are desensitized to big motor sound if you fish a large reservoir.

I had no idea about the false eye spot. I usually look for realistic lures that have the spot to blend better as a baitfish, but I guess I should just match colors with no eye spot and see if it makes a difference.
