Mr Bill Dance thank you so much you've really been a big help to me. Back in the in the 60s. My mother and dad had a cabin at eastport I can remember my dad and I fishing with a long purple worm 🪱 as a matter of fact when my mother and dad would buy me a rod and reel. I would put a purple worm on the end of it and that's all I ever fish with. And I would catch as many fish as anybody things sure have changed but thank you so much

I sat next to Doug at a bass fishing symposium put on years ago at SeaWorld. He was incredibly nice. I remember seeing this video years ago and people were complaining he was using electronics to catch these lunker bass. This is like the naysayers today complain about FFS. Anglers need to learn the technology or get out of the way. Rick Clunn says FFS is " beautiful" and he is actively learning it.

I use a #4 offset hook for my whacky worm, I've caught them up to 11 lbs like that, bout 4 humps back from the belly of the worm works great, and I fish in N.C. !!!

Rick still uses monofilament to this day. i spent years wasting money on fluorocarbon because it's "invisible" underwater.... are you telling me that fish won't see a 20lb test fluoro line when they are inches away from it and looking at what you are throwing to them? even if the water is super clear i'd rather use 4lb mono because it will most likely be less visible than the heavy fluoro guys are throwing because it's "invisible under water". All marketing, just like wasting money on 65 lb braid for pulling a 5lb bass out of heavy cover. It's all big business.

God this is a great tape. The sound design with a second mic right on the water is a great touch. The music is perfect. And then there's the Professor himself. He was so far ahead of his time. A meticulous and brilliant researcher. Clean and clear. Straight to the point and data driven. AND he's a true sportsman, as he is first a naturalist and second a fisherman. Rest in peace, Mr Hannon.
