Bill Bastable interview 2023

I'm excited and honored to share this new interview I recently did with the original Pac-Man master, Bill Bastable. For over two hours, we talked about early Pac-Man masters, perfect scores in the '80s, Super Pac-Man, Mr. Do's Castle, Bill's run-ins with Chris Ayra and Billy Mitchell, and being a gamer over 60.
See also Bastable's "Super 44" Super Pac-Man patterns: • Bill Bastable - Super ...
And his 3,256,660 score on Mr. Do's Castle, factory settings: • Bill Bastable - Mr. Do...

Bill Bastable? He's perfect, haven't you heard? Video game player of the century

I played against Bastable's perfect game of PacMan in 1983 at an arcade in NYC (3,332,850). I know he did it because I was there. I'd been trying to get in touch with him to no avail but it's good to see he's still gaming. Chess is being solved now with many similar techniques to pacman (Pattern recognition). He might want to look into it.

I have fond memories of gaming with Bill as well. There was also one night we double teamed a very attractive young woman, lol! Great times

That might just be my lack of professional lighting. Bill smokes like a pack of cigarettes a day, but otherwise, he was pretty active and seemed healthy. I was there for about a week, and I got no indication anything was wrong.

He looks like I expected for what that's worth. I knew him back in the 1980s through a mutual friend. He was always a bit thin.

How sad to spoil an interview with the host who keeps saying yes, hmm-mmm, ok, yeah, alright every couple seconds. In the future just keep quiet until they are finished talking, or if they are rambling on, then try to steer them into the right direction. This is the problem with youtubers who try to become journalists. Dont even know the fundamentals
