#1 is safety, being if front means getting rearended is not going to happen by upcoming drivers. #2 Could be a mentality that maybe stems from older air cooled bikes, in which the less time at a standstill the less likely the bike is to overheat. #3... If your in front then you dont have to pass anybody later haha Just some thoughts...
