www.sscycle.com/
S&S Cycle has been in the business of manufacturing high quality, high performance engine components for over 50 years. What started as a passion for speed, grew into the best known company name in the V-Twin high performance aftermarket. George Smith Sr. had to build his own parts to make his motorcycle faster. Now the company he founded manufactures the most prestigious line of "go fast" v-twin engine parts in the world. The company was started in the basement of his home in Blue Island, IL in 1958, and moved to Viola, WI in 1969. In 2004 an additional facility was opened in LaCrosse, WI.

Thanks very much. Bought an old Shovel with S&S lifters. Your video helped me understand why it didn't seem to be bleeding-down. Now know they've got the limited travel spacer and can set it up accordingly. Excellent video.

i like that idea to tighten rod until it will not turn after like 30 mins and count how many you did tighten it... then start backing it off slowly until it will spin where it is not jammed tight, then you now are at the very bottom of the travel, then take the number of turns it took to get to where you stopped and then how many times it took to get tube to turn easy of not to hard to turn. then you now have a good number from top to bottom ... so just make it to half of what that number is... also you now can just know what the number of turns are and start back at the top and spin it down again until it will not turn any more... then back it off half way of what you just brought down on the number of turns ... now on my engine building of auto trucks and cars motors i use a dial indicator and it is .300 thou on a lifters not .200thou so i would bring it down to .150thou .... so easy to understand...

If S&S is so self-confident and willing to teach, why don't they talk about the real height changes as far as from heat as well as flex when it comes to thousands of an inch of lifter adjustments? Adjusting my HL2T kit is nothing but a guessing game when it comes first of all to my all aluminum 131" motor which certainly will challenge by it's heat expansion alone for starters and my only resort would be to run it hot and re-adjust. Flex at full rpm will certainly affect it as well.

Justin Knows his Engines , Own and Operate out of his home now Just Torque it . You can find him on facebook , I have sent him Bottom end and heads . Top Notch work . I live in Rule not one bike shop in 100 miles that can do a job right . I rather have the job done right and ride than have a shop say they can do it and make a mess of things and im down for 2 years .

If new tappets are installed at the same time as installing the Quickee push rods, and the tappets have not been filled with oil, meaning that they were installed dry, do still have to wait until they "bleed down" before moving on to the next cylinder?

Probably too late of a responce, I would get them filled with oil before you install em. But yes, there would be no bleed down since there would be no oil. A dry fire up with no oil in the lifters is going to be hard on it until it pumps up. Could damage your motor... oil bleeds out of the lifter to lube the cam face so potentially your new cams first revolutions will be dry and damage the faces.☹ without oil to create the hydrolic lift there will be slack in the valve train and parts will slam and slap until it pumps up. It can take a while to get oil flowing.
