Webbing simplicity is the way to go, that rear strap on the 'Thousand' reminds me of the old Fallschirmjager helmet style.

Yes very good at the moment you need it protection is the most important thing. That a tumble is never thought about until “there it is”...when the moment is over protection the most important thing. Style? Well we all want to feel good as we ride and that means as much about ourselves as it does comfort. No one wants to look dorky but as the BeGee’s said it’s all about “staying alive”. Thanks for going through all this as I am reminded of a recent incident and hermits (along with good suspension forks) are important. Giro is my choice and too, the RadMini has good front suspension!

I picked up a fox racing helmet, it's similar to the black Giro helmet. Because I live in the New York city and ride on the streets I'm thinking of also picking up a Mountain bike full face helmet . I need full protection from the road.

I'm on my 2nd Thousand - they replaced my first as I banged my head in a crash and they will replace for free. I love it. I do look after it though - maybe not as bashed as yours get!

what is all that banging around backgound noise

Hi, I live in Asia and it very warm throughout the year (average day temperature range from 30-33 degree Celsius). I had booked a Foldable Bike (Tyrell IVE Sport) recently and need a helmet to go along. I welcome your recommendation for bike helmet that is inexpensive (not more than USD80), lightweight, good ventilation. Thanks

I was looking at getting a Thousand, and I was also looking at Giro just because of the price, but I think you sold me on the Thousand just due to the features! I live in a city, and it looks like a great choice as well.

I just use a genetic BMX/skateboard helmet, it's more than good enough for protection

NO, very different. Bike helmets only rated up to a certain speed / condition. Uncertain if they go through the same levels of testing as DOT.

I have cycled londons streets and beyond for nearly sixty years, no helmet, no lycra, no health and safety crap, I'm still cycling without all that health and safety crap, - kzread.info/dash/bejne/fWF-sbqans7TZZc.html - tom, crystal palace...

I bought a Thousand helmet. Large size. I was terribly disappointed. Aside from costing me $185 when I put it on it looks like a fish bowl even though I followed their sizing guide on their website (measured 3 times). I can place a finger on either side between the helmet and my head, the straps don't lay straight they are twisted and warped. Overall the helmet looks and feels cheap regardless of the hefty price tag. Extremely disappointing!
