Road vs Commuter Helmet: Which Should You Buy? | Cycling Weekly
Спорт
While a helmets job is to protect your head, there are differences between the road and commuter helmets that make each one better suited to its specific job, and in this video we’ll touch upon the major design changes between the two including the aerodynamics, weight and style.

I purchased a commuter helmet mostly for the visor. When the days are shorter, the sun is directly in my eyes most of my commute. It does the trick.
One thing you didn't mention that I have experienced is that a visor (peak) can interfere with your forward view on a drop bar bike with a more head down riding position. On my upright commuter bike, it is a convenience.
Like the screens covering the front vents on the commuter helmet. Definitely would help in Florida during love bug season.
I appreciated this explanation. Maybe you can do one for mountain bike helmets?
I suspect most people are choosing based on fashion, price, fit, MIPS or not.

They're all the same token protection, so might as well get a cheap one from wish.. if you constantly put yourself in dangerous situations when cycling at 10 mph on a shared path.

@Michal Švihla because helmets are unnecessary.. the cheaper the better.

@@-Dragon-Master- at that point why even buy a helmet? just go without one and spend the money you saved on something nice
The Stormchaser is a nice looking lid.
Finally ! somebody giving info about Peaks 🤙other videos just ignored them 😡❤️
Where can I find that blue and yellow cap? Tried searching for eroica britannia but couldn't find it :(
Nice one both
Thanks. I like the urban helmet. The main reason is the urban helmet will not allow bugs to enter and get stuck inside. Drives me nuts.

That bug coming with me then and riding with me
I chose a time trial helmet, because it is good for cold weather. Road helmets are designed to dissipate heat, which makes no sense in Winter.
I like that cap.
how wide are the tires?
Has anyone ever seen Rupert and comedian James Acaster in the same room 🧐🤔🤷🏻♂️
I pretty much wear the same helmet regardless of what I'm riding, Road, Mountain, gravel, cyclocross, TT... All the same helmet while training or riding. The only time I change helmet is when I'm racing, we just simply a lighter helmet. You're making choosing a helmet way way too complicated. You choose a helmet on how well does it fit, and what you want to spend. I also recommend getting a brightly colored helmet like yellow for visibility.

Use a blunt crayon then You won't need a helmet when you're writing.

Mine is made of wool, keeps my head warm in winter and the sun off my bold Vince in the summer.
Just get a road helmet and get home from work quicker!
where do commuters put their sunglasses?
A helmet without vents would be better, Lot bugs here, they get into the hair, and some of them sting.
Not all comute in the city
just like most cycling stuff these VERY cheap to make helmets are far too expensive
uzzer , eizzer , furzzer - never heard them pronounced like that before
Hi guys! Velcom to de verkshop! The most arrowdynamic one
£129 for some polystyrene wrapped in a plastic shell. I could buy a good cheap second-hand bike for that.
I have to ask if you're going to have two different helmets and styles couldn't you have two different colors? Also who the hell is spending that much on a helmet my cost $10 and does the same thing.
There's no 90 year old driving corpse that cares about the type of your helmet when launching you over his bonnet. Just get any helmet.
One of the dumbest product comparissons out there. Not because of this guy, but because of the company making these helmets has deemed it neccesery to make distinctions between road and commuter.
Serious?😂
Road. Duh
Only Abus would think people are asking this question. Go back to making security products.
Two adverts only 90s into the video - forget it.

Out of all the wisdom-filled comments I've encountered on the internet, yours is certainly the wisest of all. 🧠 🤦♂
I won't waste a dime on a helmet. I don't believe they much if anything to protect from injury and they direct the sweat straight into my eyes which ruins my bike rides. Mountainbikers need helmets but road bike riding nope.

No way, dude! Any cyclist can get thrown over the bars in various circumstances, from potholes to mechanical failures to getting hit by a car. If there's a risk of crashing-which there certainly is in road riding-then yes, a helmet is necessary.

Friend of me slipped with his bike just some days ago. Street was dirty and a bit wet. He said that is was happening so fast that he just had no time to use his arms to catch his body. His head did it. Thankfully he used a helmet which reduced the damage to a light concussion. Helmet broke but his head is okay. There are many situations a helmet won’t help you, but why risk something like that?

@@juliuslirr9635 I'm afraid the answer to your question on why people would risk a head injury is because they want to look "cool" (or, at least, to not look "uncool").

@@juliuslirr9635 Because all throughout life you'll take risks. What enjoyment would one get out of life if there was a safety step to our every move and we took advantage of it. We can't predict when, how, or what if something is going to happen to change our lives. I enjoy riding a bike a whole lot more without a helmet and I don't want to be harassed by some moron who thinks he/she needs to protect me.
