FYI - the black spots you referred to on the trout flesh are trematodes (one species is Neascus). These parasites are found in many different kinds of fish and resemble small flecks of black pepper (as if sprinkled on the fish fillets). The condition is commonly called "black spot." The specks are tiny encysted larvae which are typically not injurious to the fish. The main problem associated with black-spot is the unsightly appearance it causes. The fish can still be eaten safely as long as it is cooked (not eaten raw).

I didn't imagine to see the open water spot at winter season there. Nice catch with Fly Fishing!!! Second hooked rainbow has very sharp fins which tells me it has been there for long period of time and becoming more towards native trout.

I love your fishing vids. You should check out Wilderness with Amani here in Reno. He has no problem with telling his locations. Living in a state with so many honeyholes shouldn't worry you about sharing your general whereabouts. Heck, most of us are just armchair watchers who don't get up and out anyway.

You should handle trout more delicately when releasing. They are not robust like bass and such. Too much handling kills them shortly after release
