Just a little bragging here, but in the southern US there are literally dozens and dozens of football stadiums that hold 14,000 + fans. High school football fans. In South Georgia I live within a hours drive of three. Very well maintained too. I understand Texas has a lot of such venues.

Wembley Stadium, Estadio Azteca, Estadio Maracana They are considered the only temples of world football. Soon, Camp Nou and Santiago Bernabeu will be included when they dispute their probably future World Cup 2030 and Eurocopa that hosts that country.

What sucks about Athens is that stadium hasn’t been used much since the 2004 Olympics ended, but I guess it’s better than the city’s Olympic baseball stadium which is basically modern Greek ruins. Greeks aren’t interested in baseball, leaving the venue empty and abandoned
