Went on my first date in two years last week. It was just a coffee meet up, but we spent an hour or so talking. I was able to get a little bit of information about him and his life. He did mention the dating site and how one of his dates was an ex stripper. I couldn’t tell if that was bragging or not. We texted back and forth during the week. He has a Mon-Fri job, but mentioned meeting friends for a game in the morning and then was out having drinks in the afternoon and was waiting to have drinks with friends in the evening. It kind of turned me off. I had a day at work yesterday so ended up not making plans to go out with him today. I guess I just don’t want to spend time with someone who’s unsettled in life and just playing the field. That was the impression I getting from him.

High-quality men are everywhere I found my husband and fell in love at a group meet up of a sci fi club because we had similar interests it's just blossomed. I wasn't looking. Just take sometime to find out who he is and don't look at every date as a potential husband but decide if you even like each other. But I made it clear after a few dates I was now looking for longterm and marriage but wanted to wait for right person. If the run then they are a not for you.

@@lizmcgill look for book clubs volunteer there may be sci-fi clubs near you I actually usually liked men older but he was younger by about 4 years still married over 30 years later but I dated a lot before finding him and checked them out. I lived with some previous as well. A coffee date is just people getting to know someone in my view.

You don't start a conversation with deep subjects. It's gradual for both. Most men don't have a clue what to do when they see a profile with substance. They do feel intimidated because they're looking for a woman who will need them. You don't need 6 or more pics, just a couple clear ones. Most guys want sex so if you offer anything else, it drops rather quickly. They are not willing to put any effort into building trust. Everything is too quick and too easy. No woman wants to babysit an immature guy either.

I'm 65 and I do not feel "old" at all, I take offense to her saying she is "old" and therefore can't move on. She has a negative attitude towards life and that negative energy rill drive men away. Self care such as daily exercise, and socializing out in public can help to lighten a negative, depressed and anxious mood.

I don't feel old either at 63; however, I am not going to stop dating and miss out on many years of my life because I sure as hell am not getting any younger. I actually am very positive and self-confident except when it comes to my FWB guy. I can't explain it, but anyway, after seven years he began making me feel like shit. I purposely ended it and made him go away, but you don't know how much I regret that and want him back. I'm not stupid and do realize letting him go was for the best, but it is making me very sad and depressed which is not the way I want to be. I hate being miserable. I just wanted to clear things up of what I really do believe. I really needed some good advice, and I wanted to ask Jonathan. G

I prefer to see the highlights, a summary of the best qualities and interests of Men in their profile. I tend to lose interest quickly when they write an entire book to tell about themselves. When men tell me everything in their profile there is not much left to talk about in person. Please keep it short and sweet and ask for the date.

There are SO few quality profiles on line that there's little incentive to message. When I do message I include everything Jonathon has detailed and I get back a couple of words, or maybe a short sentence if I'm lucky. Also guys have rarely read my profile - all they're interested in is photos to see if they find you sexually attractive. I've been trying dating apps for almost 8 years now and it's so depressing I could cry.

Thank you for having me on the hotseat for this show. I was feeling very badly and really needed some advice. I believe I do have self-confidence except when it comes to my former FWB guy. I can't explain it and don't know why I allow myself to be treated like shit by him. I am very independent and always have been. That's why I wanted to end things with him, but now that I did, you don't know how badly I want him back. I realize getting back with him is not an option. I just feel worse losing him forever than it did to be treated like dirt by him sometimes. I know that does not make sense and makes me look weak and like a doormat which I was when I was with him to an extent. I am hoping I meet someone "hot" like him someday and am able to move on with my life. Thank you Jonathon for the advice. I really appreciate all your help and understanding. G

It was emphasized "we should know ourselves" for example our a.fears, b.insecurities, c.doubts, d.judgments, e.negative patterns, f.limiting beliefs, g.triggers. ..... I might add self-awareness is also about coming to understand the origins, causes and roots of all these things, and how they have developed, evolved and sometimes became entrenched over time.

Hi Jonathon, You have given the second caller really good advice. Most of all like you I think this beautiful soul needs to do some reading on self development. Finding purpose in her life through doing volunteer work will help to build up her self esteem. Once she has worked on this area of her life the good looking bad boy will lose his appeal as she will realise that she is worth so much more.

@ Corinne: thank you for clarifying that just because we are in our 60s does not disqualify us at all! and who cares if we’re not considered mid-life anymore (not sure why Rosa kept saying that 🙄). How we feel, love our lives and care about others is what matters. I still feel like I’m in my 40s and people can remind me of my age all they want, but I don’t care. 😉 And maybe if they’re lucky, someday they’ll be in their 60s too, so I guess they’ll just be miserable thinking that they’re old. Their choice but ridiculous!

Jonathon, I totally DISAGREE that someones profile is the primary reason they are not attracting quality people. From my experience, 99% of guys only look at the pictures and NEVER read the profile. I am very specific in my profile of what I'm looking for but instead I constantly receive responses from guys who share absolutely nothing in common with me. I truly think when it comes to online dating, people just toss spaghetti against the wall to see if anything sticks! These guys are trying to date someone totally out of their league - much older men and guys who look like they crawled out of the woods.

So, any advice on what I can do to avoid receiving all these likes and messages from guys who obviously are nowhere close to being any sort of match to my profile? Currently, I just ignore their likes or messages. However, some days, I feel like that is all I am receiving. And sometimes, they will continue to like or message me multiple times.

She needs healing for her neurological injuries. Not many therapists know anything about that so ask about “Somatic Experiencing” a la Peter Levine.

I am done with the apps, I believe if I am destined to meet somebody, God will send him. Yes, both my exes I met through others I knew...either in college or a support group! I have an 84-year-old roomie and her grandson and I have to help her with the technology. How can the right man see me? is a good question, Jonathon. In the last 3 years I have been on several dating sites unfortunately most of the men on their have turned out to be scamers... Yes I have gotten a lot better at reading the signs now, but I would like to know how l can avoid them all together... Other than just not going on sites at all because this is where I am at right now. I don't go out often so yes from what you are saying, dating sites are the way of the world now.
