You guys missed the best easter egg of all! At the excecution scene, Jack looks into a basket with heads, one of the heads is the one of Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead. This is a trowback to that 1 time TWD used Johnny's head in one of their scenes.

Bro I didn’t know the 5th movie existed I finally finished my childhood favourite series and I am complete. So keen for the new movie

I loved that they brought back both Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann and when Barbossa got his heroic moment at the end. Also I really liked the moment when Jack and his crew stole the entire bank. I have definitely never seen anything like that before in a movie. And the post credit scene was simply amazing. I cannot wait to see what Pirates 6 has in store.

The ship is called the Wicked Wench...which in the Young Jack Sparrow novels was Jack's first ship. It was sunk during an incident and so Jack found Davy Jones and made a deal. Jones raised the Wicked Wench from the depths and Jack christened her the Black Pearl. That should've been an easter egg itself actually lol

Agreed, smartjj100, and the whole compass thing in this scene irked the heck outta me. He got it from Tia Dalma! Still... over all, great film, even if they blatantly ignored canon at points. -_-

The 5th one is really good because it doesn't focus so much on Jack it focuses on Henry and Karina more than Jack (they still do put enough focus on him)

I lost it at the mayonnaise line...it was also a part of an extended scene in Curse of the Black Pearl if I remember correctly. Pintel: "Damn to the depths whatever man that thought of parley!" Jack: "That would be the French, yes. Latin-based, of course. Inventors of mayonnaise." Pintel: "I like mayonnaise!"

They were at the maelstrom battle,they got on the pearl and became pirates,they reunited with barbossa and became crew members on the queen Anne’s revenge,their names are muilroy and murtogg

He got the name Sparrow because he was in the crow's nest taunting Salazar like ... a little sparrow.

So much information so early in the morning. All these stars and rockers and mayonnaise and jokes and stealing a bank. I will always love that Jack Sparrow.

I feel divided on this movie. On one hand I was excited to be seeing a new pirates installment after seeing that piece of shit on strangers tides but on the other hand something feels off about this movie. Like IDK the things that I loved about the original trilogy is it was fun and had heart but these last two installments feel like cash grabs. I also hated they killed barbossa and the new characters felt rushed. I wanted more jack sparrow too lol old why people are complaining about his performance he seemed the same to me

Yes i tottaly agree with you! The original trilogy had so much more omf in it and really grabed you. The forth was a pice of crap that ruind story line. I felt ok about this one but i am still pissed they killed Barbossa.

Oh I get the joke... The skeleton can't drink, the alcohol will just spill on the ground, and he needs the mop to clean it up.

They changed the story of the compass. In the 2nd Pirates of the Caribbean, Tia Dalma said Jack bartered the compass from her...

The mayonnaise reference goes back to a cut line of dialogue between Jack and Pintel in Curse of the Black Pearl. In the cave at Isla de Muerta, Jack walks into the cursed pirates and struggles to find the word "Parley". Ragetti helps Jack say the word, and Pintel says, "Damn the mutton heads that thought up the word, Parley!" Jack responds saying, "That would be the French." That was in the film, but the next lines were cut for time. Jack continues, "The inventors of Mayonnaise." Pintel says, "I like mayonnaise!" and thus the Easter egg is set up. It was an inconsequential couple of lines that trimmed down a two-hour film, but lives on in the fans because of the DVD extras.

I thought this video would be about another kind of easter eggs, like Jack's bad luck and blackouts being Angelica's doing or something like that.

These weren't Easter eggs. They were obviously stated quotes from the movie. Also these were copied from a website

Christian Goen yep, read it, 1. The compass thing can be explained, he didn't give the compass away without expecting it to be returned to him, until now, he gives it away freely. (But yeah Tia Dalma gave him the compass according to Dead mans chest, that's a mistake) 2. If johnny depp is 53 why can't Jack Sparrow be 50 (even if it's stretched out by the age expectancy of the time) 3. William Turner had those marine thing one his face because of how long he has been underwater, i think that was the idea 4. Every curse is now broken so the franchise can start fresh 5. I don't know about Davy Jones...lol

Also, with the mayo thing, it's also a nod to the first pirates movie. In one of the bloopers about one of the scenes of "parley," Pintel line is "damn to the depths of whoever thought of 'parley!'" and jack responds "that would be the french." and he added "inventors of mayonnaise." It's a very hidden easter egg, but once I heard jack say it in this movie, I couldn't stop smiling.

Okay i did NOT know Depp had a thing of helping out and playing with rockstars!

Whoo! I loved the movie and these Easter eggs are dope. :) just had chills at the end. 😌

I wasn't his place to get involved - his job is to ferry the souls and nothing else. the reason Davy Jones got all messed up is because he didn't do his job - he got sidetracked and did other things and neglected his duty. will isn't corrupt so he stayed out of it - it wasn't his fight, anyway

I feel like the mayonnaise line was more of a reference to the blooper from CotBP than a throwback to a potential historical fact

The phrase "Dead Men Tell No Tales" is almost exclusively a reference to the ride, at least in the PotC franchise. The audio used in the transition scene from At World's End is ripped directly from the ride, and the tone in which the parrot says it is the same as the ride as well.

Just saw the film, and I have a question about another possible easter egg. In the scene where the pirates are offering tribute to the young Jack Sparrow, is that a young Barbossa standing behind him? If so, then present-day Barbossa was simply stalling for time while Salazar retold the tale of his curse.

Your explanation for the end credit scene is as good as any. I was surprised that no scene was offered of Jack enduring marital bliss with his new wife and beautiful children. They missed what would have been pretty funny. As it is The scene did smack of foreshadowing BTW the Mayo was brought up before, during the big fight scene in the cave in Black P. right?

SmokinWeedYO I don't think Disney has given an official reason, but name changes usually have to do with what trade marks are available. If there are similarly titled movies already available in the UK (and other foreign countries), then Disney might not have been able to secure the trademark for "Dead Men Tell No Tales." In such case, a name change would be necessary to secure a trademark for Pirates 5.

A grand easter egg itself in this film was that they still used the continuity of the Pearl's prior ship name "The Wicked Wench" like in the Teenage Jack Sparrow books! I always wanted to see Young Jackie and the Wench in some way of form and they delivered :)

Does anyone else not get Jacks repetitive eunuch reference to Will Turner? It's so subtle, yet hilarious to realize that he's mentioned it in nearly every Pirates movie.

Also in the young Jack scene, you can see captain Teague behind Jack when he’s collecting tribute

Really funny all around, excellent jokes well placed usually by Capt. Jack himself. Great bit of back story given for Jack and Barbossa, fantastic to finally see the Pearl again! I did think the plot of the antagonist was not as deeply woven as previous antagonists in the series, and the same goes for Blackbeard. You'll notice that the first antagonist actually turned into a character with just a deeper story as you see his reasoning, while the second antagonist Davy Jones presents an even more philosophical and deep character, wanting to be re-united with Calypso. That trend of deeper reasoning leads to a story of characters at odds, rather than classic boring good vs. evil. Sparrow himself was a sometimes good sometimes bad mostly witty manipulator, and in this movie he just seems like a symbol of that former ad-libbed legendary performance. I thought Will and Elizabeth would be in the movie and they weren't. I'm not dissing the movie but noticing the plot simplification trend and lack of quick-wit as sequels get made. Should have let her go when the Pearl and the Dutchman swerved on Beckett at the end of 3 and made his ship a firework.

I guessed the Barbosa twist 25% into the film. In which I knew he was gone bite it by film's end. Seems like Disney likes killing father figures (Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Wars)

Ik this video is 2 years old now but I figure I’d comment anyways. One thing that doesn’t add up is the compass. In dead men tell no tales he is given the compass by a sailor. However (idk her name in the movie or the actor) but calypso says she is the one that gave jack the compass. Not earth shattering but I put it out there anyways

Another Easter egg people might have missed On Stranger Tides the 4th movie there is a part where Blackbeard uses a voodoo doll of Jack Sparrow and carves a Trident into his chest which appears on jack as well

I realised that Parrot line only when I watched the first movie in English for the first time yesterday before I watched the fifth in cinema. (I'm German) and I was like... so that's an easter egg, I like this already!

Also the two British guards watching over the ship in Port Royal in the first film are back as two pirates who are now working with Barbossa. The only thing I do not like about this movie is: Why do Elizabeth and Will not help with the search? I mean just as you know Elizabeth from the movies, she would never sit on the island and basically do nothing for 20 years. Well and Will has the Flying Dutchman ....... so he would kick ass.

The thing is the French used the Guillotine all the way up to 1977 which was the year of the last execution by it but retired after France abolished capital punishment in 1981

So...are they doing their own universe for the movies and not going by the books, because in the Price of Freedom which is a prequel to the movies. Beckett actually gave Jack the Wicked Witch. (aka what is now called The Black Pearl) when he worked for the East India Trading Company as a merchant. Jack refused to deliver slaves and released them instead, which resorted in Beckett burning down the Wicked Witch. (Which is why the Black Pearl looks the way it does because when Jack made the deal with Davy Jones and Jones brought it back, it was charred from the fire.)

I wish they would make a sequel where they end up at the OBX of NC and actually film a few scenes there. It is the graveyard of the Atlantic.

I really enjoyed this movie. The 4th movie was eh, but this one definitely rejuvenated my love for this series.
