BIG Snook Can't Resist BIG Baits! Fishing Ladyfish & Mullet Around Docks

Спорт

In this video, ‪@JCFishin2021‬ and I went fishing for big overslot snook around residental docks using big live ladyfish and mullet as bait. We started the morning throwing topwaters and paddletails for speckled trout and redfish along oyster bars, but then we stumbled upon a school of ladyfish on a grass flat. We caught a couple perfect sized ladyfish to use as live bait and took them to a residential canal where big snook like to hangout around the docks. While there, we also found a huge school of mullet which we threw the cast net on. We then used the mullet for more big snook on more docks. It was a great day with some big snook caught and a Tampa Bay inshore slam as well!

I used to freeline live mullet around some of the parked ships in Tampa and catch absolute monsters. The biggest snook I ever saw was one my buddy hooked from my boat. It took a big mullet, came to the surface and rolled then ran right under the ship. He had 40 pound line and couldn't even slow it. It must have been around 46 to 50 inches.

Ladyfish is my go-to for giant snook. I've also used live catfish, barbs and all, in the same spots and have gotten hammered just as quickly. Awesome video!

@@JakeDombroski I found out by accident. I was in a spot catching ladyfish, putting them on a big hook immediately for snook. I was having trouble getting the ladyfish one night and got a small catfish, put it on just for fun and it got hammered. Got a bigger 14" hard headed cat, put him on and got hammered a second time. Both snook over 40". Besides, go look on "chew on this" page, he caught a monster snook on a cat.

@@JakeDombroski but I'm not saying go catch a bunch of catfish and go snook fishing. Pinfish mullet ladyfish mojarra and white bait are all superior baits. What I mean is when the snook are fired up and eating anything that comes down current catfish will work. I know it's hard to believe! One time I caught redfish by putting trolley gummy worms on a jig head. They were fired up and we ran out of shrimp. Add me on fishbrain I'll prove it 😂

Great job bro! Lots of action in this video. Loved seeing all the different species caught on different rigs. Really gives you an idea of how you should be fishing in certain conditions. What set up were you using for the dock fishing? Trying to find some more on shore fishing sights, any suggestions??

My dock fishing setup was a Daiwa BG 5000 with 40lb braid on a St. Croix Mojo Salt 8' Medium Action rod. I list all the gear I use in each video in the video description with amazon links to each (if they're on amazon) if you wanna check them out. As far as finding shore fishing spots, google maps, asking employees at local bait/tackle shops, and exploring different spots will also be your best bet
