    I've owned my 2500C 45.5mm since 2005, worn on 18.5cm/7.3in wrist, close to my limit. It was my daily for 7 years. Amazing watch, prefer it to the PO8500 and 8900. Did an overhaul after 11 yrs (cost me 410 euros). Super accurate (less than +2s/d deviation). Love the matte dial and bezel.

    Thanks for sharing that - I think this watch clearly has some very strong points, and I also do love that matte black dial which contrasts super well with the hands and markers. Still one of the best tool divers I have seen!

    Great video, I have had the exact model since 2009 and it's never missed a beat and it's never had a service. It's been all over the world with me. I have used for diving also and it fitted nice over my wet suit. This watch feels beautiful on the wrist. I have a 20cm wrist and the balance for me is perfect. This is my daily wearer and I even use it for gardening and DIY . The retail price back in 2009 was £1950 and I got it at a steal at £1650 back then. The luminosity is great and it has a 48 power reserve. If you looking to buy one they going for about £2450- 2950 pending condition.

    I've got this same watch, had it since 4/2007. It's been awesome and very versatile. I just sent it to Omega for it's first servicing. So that's 11 years without issue. It's a big watch, no doubt, but the newer versions are thicker and feel even larger. I can carry it, but most people get the 42mm version for obvious reasons.

    I bought the 42mm PO with black bezel and white numbers in 2008 and really like it. It was a perfect addition to the blue SMP I already had at that time. The only reason I later gave it away was my desire for the orange PO Chronograph. My father got it from me and he really enjoys it. So do I when we meet and I see the watch on his wrist. I still have the PO Chrono which has the same diameter as the watch in the video but it is considerably higher and heavier. On my wrist it is on the limit but I really love that beast. The current watches in the Planet Ocean lineup look fantastic and have more advanced movements but you can't go wrong with a first generation Planet Ocean, especially if you prefer a more toolish look.

    It’s great that the original still had the big advantage over later versions of being much thinner. It’s just weird of Omega never manages to get the lume right on the hands. The minutes hand is made intentionally with that separation between the “shaft” and “arrow head” so that when all the hands overlap in the dark the “arrow heads” of all hands hours, minutes and seconds are still visible and the seconds hand falls right in that dark space on the minutes hand and the hours hand is right behind it. I find the design of the hands genius. I do agree that it is difficult to read the watch in the dark when its not on your hand but how often do you do that? Also a ceramic bezel would have been nice like on the new model but I think the metal case back with the hypocampus is better on this generation because it allows the watch to remain a little bit thinner with the same water rating. But the movement on the newer generation is a great improvement. Overall the ideal watch for me would have the case of this generation (except the bezel) with the 8500 movement, with the bracelet of this generation and the clasp of the newer one (micro adjustments).

Was the case actually the same and the only difference was the strap or was the 2900.50.91 that everyone said he uses in the movie actually a 45.5mm watch? It’s really hard to tell because in the picture you show it doesn’t look that big, but even Omega says that it’s the bigger one & not the 42mm….? I don’t know if I want the 45.5 or the 42 as I have a 7.25” wrist, dont like watches that are too big, & found a 42mm 2201.50.00 w a rubber strap.

    The real and only issue I have with Omega that will always have it trailing Rolex is that they are constantly changing their watches. The Speedmaster original is the only exception I know of. If you really like an Omega but have to wait till you can afford it, it won't be available new anymore. It will have gone through multiple changes. If you need to wait till you can afford the Rolex you always wanted, it will still essentially be the same iconic watch. How many versions of Seamaster are there? How many versions of the Submariner are there? I think this is one of the best Seamaster diver designs Omega created yet they stopped manufacturing it. This marketing concept is similar to that of Seiko or Citizen watches.

  • @PerthWAtch

    @PerthWAtch

    2 жыл бұрын

    Is it that frequent? Rolex upgraded the Sub to ceramic bezel in 2011 (or thereabouts) and they increased the size last year (or was it 2020?). Omega's last Seamaster 300M blue dial 2012 model was in production for about 8 years... not that much different it would seem.

  • @czrem1

    @czrem1

    @@PerthWAtch That is true. What I really meant is their changes are quite radical over time. (The exception is the Speedmaster Professional original because there are a large number of different variations of Speedmaster's.) Rolex does make changes, infrequently, but when they do, it is subtle and does not change the general look of the model. That is why a Rolex always looks like a Rolex from a distant glance. I've encountered Omega's being worn that I could not clearly recognize. I knew it was likely a fine Swiss watch but had to scrutinize it closely to discover it was an Omega. Some would argue that this is an appeal of Omega because Rolex also suffers the fate of being the most copied watch designs of all. I've seen &39.00 watches in Walmart that clearly copied Rolex. Not so much with Omega. I actually own this watch and the Speedmaster. Couldn't afford a Rolex!

  • @PerthWAtch

    @PerthWAtch

    2 жыл бұрын

    Ah yes very true - the very success and recognisable design of Rolex plays a role in the Submariner being the most copied watch in the world, including the $20 automatic Tevise T801A! Omega does get copied of course but no where near as frequently.

    You are 100% correct. I have the original PO and look in the Omega shop whenever I jump on a plane and go…naaaah…the old one is better. In fact back when I bought this you could buy a submariner easily. I put them side by side and the Omega was a nicer looking watch for me. In hindsight I should have bought the submariner as it doubled in price unlike my trusty PO. But I still do admire it when I wear it.

    Perth WAtch to be honest they’re nice and very well made. In all fairness omegas quality control in my opinion is second to non. However to me even though I own the old non bond seamaster of the 90s, they seem quite heavy. They need a slimmer profile and just remove some clutter off the dial. I’d think I’d wear it over the rolex any day of the week.
