Lol nature of the Alabama weather. This time last year we were coming out of a period where it barely touched freezing for two months straight, to more usual with it 70º day before yesterday and today barely broke freezing lol. If it's not the weather it's TVA release messing with ya.

I didn't quit bassing , but I opened up doors I had closed , like live bait . Thank you , Richard Gene . for these videos you make . Thanks to you , I have become a multi- species fisherman . The diversion canal between lake Marion and lake Moultrie I caught the biggest shell cracker in my 65yrs of fishing . It took 3 fingers to fill it's mouth , caught on a dime sized mussel shell along a deep 30ft ledge . Spent 3/4 of a yr recovering from cancer surgery fishing that area of SC sleeping in a roomy tent or fishing all hours of day and night eating fire roasted fish on a stick with kudzu n mussel shell soup . One afternoon my fish stringer lightlined with an audible pop , up came a freshwater otter floating on it's back eating the stomach out of a blue cat I'd intended on having for my supper . I quit swimming the day a 14ft gator swam by , it unnerved me a bit I must say . All in all I can honestly say I enjoyed every moment of my stay , fishing was most Exilent the solitude was sublime . My panfish rod was a 4ft bass pro shop tiny lite rod with a pfluger reel using 5Lb. mono line , rigged with a double 00 split shot on bottom and 2 long shank Carlie cricket hooks . My catfish rigs were 7ft heavy action Mississippi CatBuster Rods heavy duty Cat Reels with 75 lb. max drag spooled with 80 lb mono , my lead sinkers matched Current speed and application from Santee rigs to Carlile rigs Kentucky rigs and tight line . Two of my biggest cats were bluecats at 42 Lb & 45 Lb both caught tight line just after dark using live hand sized bluegill 30ft deep suspended 1 & 3ft off bottom in a 12mph current with 6in. steel leaders and large bait hooks . Fishing and sweet Nancy are my two favorite things .

Several things come to mind when I read the comments. First is there is no doubt that Richard loves to fish and loves to give the fish a fighting chance. Second is I like his boat and think that is what I want. Third I wish I had found his channel when I lived in Tuscaloosa, not after I moved to the gulf coast. Fourth thing is if it lives in the water it is fun to catch and good to eat. That includes crab, shrimp, conch, abalone, mussels, squid, octopus, oysters, lobster and most fresh and salt water fish. So why argue over which fish you eat because everyone has their favorite fish. Just enjoy watching Richard fish and learn from him, I do!
