  • @ziggybender9125
    @ziggybender9125 Жыл бұрын

    In my experience you should be fishing for those fish with what we call an "ulua pole" in Hawaii aka a bigger whipping pole. Also in those conditions you should probably have a fishing buddy and a gaff ready, that fish would have been a problem to deal with if you got him up on the rocks and all you have to dispatch it with is your dive knife while having to hold your fishing pole and a very strong fish with sharp edges and the will to live is thrashing around all the while a wave could surge in and complicate things further. When you're hunting elite fish it's best to have a strategic game plan of landing the fish before beginning.

    Land based GT fishing is brutal man. I know how much time and energy it takes to change out terminal tackle, map out satellite spots, plan tides, use specialty gear, to finally get a strike after hours if not days only to lose them. This type of fishing is as brutal as it gets. You did really well for someone who doesn’t do this regularly. Sometimes these fish just have too much torque when they turn so even the strongest hooks rip out, even when you do everything right. Next time.

    Super fun to see, be careful fishing for Ulua, it can become an addiction.😮 Usually this is done with partners nearby to back you up with gaffs, rope with float, and/or will jump into save you in case you fall in and get knocked out. Keep the rod tip up. They were nice battles to see, Mahalo for sharing. Aloha.

    Hey Taku, awesome video. Pro tip ! For that dull knife you switched to, the answer was hanging on the cup rack a foot away. Porcelain/ceramic cups, plates, etc are EXCELLENT to hone the edge on knives. The 'rough' area (unglazed) that forms a ring around the bottom of the cup. Use it as you would a butchers steel. Sharpen away from you, reversing the knifes edge after each swipe. You'll have to switch hands for the other side of the blade. 4/6 swipes on both sides ! Presto very fine edge on the knife.

    I’ve never targeted dogfish tuna but as a spearo I’ve seen lots of videos of other spearos hunting them. When spearos go for them, the dogfish are able to pull down one or two pressurized floats to a decent depth (even after a fatal wound from a spear). If that’s what you had on your kayak, that’s pretty intense!

    One of your Best episodes yet! That was no acting, just super raw emotions! I've lost my share fish, and it all sucked, you keep reeling back in your mind so freaking CLOSE especially after an epic battle!
