Oh I can so relate to Mel though. Life sucks when you're passionate about something and nobody else around you wants to hear about it. That's like me trying to explain British panel shows to my family and friends here in the US.
Carr's ability to poke fun at himself so quickly is incredible. "We're both married to other people, and that's NOT a very Christmas-y suggestion." "It's not the least Christmas-y thing that's happened so far!"

@@NotKyleChicago I agree, he was. Perhaps unintentionally, in his defense. Often trying to be funny or improvising can go down like a lead balloon for some people. This was unfortunately a classic example of that.
"Is it👏👏 clapping tourettes" was underrated and made me laugh so hard. Richard Ayoade never disappoints
I'm watching this in 2021 and there are just two things that come to mind: 1. They all have no idea how wild the next few years are going to get. 2. I can't believe this stuff happened that long ago and I kinda forgot about most of it allready.

One of the best episodes ever of Big Fat Quiz. Love Mel. (& side note: if there was any doubt that Bear Grylls shouldn't be taken seriously, this is it. Urine actually aggravates jellyfish stings & any "survivalist" should know that. The myth it actually helps is just an old wives' tale.)

I looked it up and on the Mayo Clinic website, it states that urine is "unhelpful or unproved" in dealing with jellyfish stings.

I've come across a few references to things Bear Grylls recommends that turn out to be bad advice recently. I never really followed him, but I'm kind of disappointed that he has turned out to be a little bit of a crank.

@@ems7623 Yeah, I was really disappointed years back when I discoverd his people do all the set ups and arrange materials so it appears that he's just happened upon the items he needs to survive that weekends travels. It's all there and his grew even works it all out before he does it on camera.

The same thing is true about a lot of advice that he’s given over the years. Such as drinking your own urine. The salts in your urine will dehydrate you even faster even in an emergency situation. That’s just one example, but honestly, there were so many bits of dangerous and potentially lethal supposed survival tips and advice that it’s ridiculous.
I get Mel’s excitement for transit. I’m a big fan of Translink (Vancouver’s transit system) and, honest to god, any skytrain expansion announcements get me way too happy.

I've seen a lot of these but hadn't seen this one yet. And it's my favorite. I love when Richard is on here or anything really. All of them are funny. I knew when I saw the lineup that this would be great. Only one I didn't really know was the American, but he was funny too. Sarah and David always great. I haven't seen much of Ramesh but I've liked him on everything I've seen him on.

Jesus, could Bear Grylls have made that jellyfish scene any more fake? You can clearly see him dropping it on purpose, and remembering to have a "painful" reaction. The shit people will do to try and get the public to tune in is seriously cringeworthy sometimes. I guess the producers figured that the only reason anyone would watch an episode with Mel B in it was if she took some of her clothes off, and pissed all over someone. That's better than listening to her trying to disquise her own obvious smugness for 45 minutes.

What a funny bunch! It's kind of nice to go that far into the Before Times. I mean things were not perfect, but I'd go back for a Mulligan!
I've always wondered if Mel's partners are playing up their annoyance or if it's not an act because it seems all her male partners just get so fed up with her carrying on jokes. I quite like them to be honest. I actually think her and Romesh are quite a pair and play off each other well.

Yeah I think they’re actually friendly IRL, the bit where she was trying to get him to say the answer more quickly was brilliant!! They play off each other incredibly well, I’d see them on tour if they took that show on the road. lol

It was definitely filmed after that, because this aired in December and the Travel Man episode was in March. (And for more concrete giveaways, the Brexit referendum and the whole Jeremy Corbyn "Traingate" deal are both mentioned here and they hadn't yet happened when the Travel Man episode aired).
