You've got a pretty huge chip on your shoulder. There are some good US comedians, like Louis CK. And I agree with George Carlin. But imo, in general, American comics are weak. Look at Daniel Tosh, Dane Cook, Kevin Hart, Jeff Dunham, Tracy Morgan, Carrot Top. Compare that with Jim Jefferies, Tim Minchin, Ricky Gervais, John Cleese to name a few

Watching this many years later, fair play to David and Rob for realising early on that it'd be funnier overall if they played the straight man role for Noel and Russell to do their thing. A very giving thing to do as comedians.

I don't understand why people take him seriously here. They're all playing the roles of kids; the two cool kids who were a bit stupid versus the bossy uptight Boffins (David even said, 'it hurts here and here now!' That's the sort of thing a child says.) Russel and Noel wouldn't have been as funny as they were if it wasn't for Jimmy and David playing the Straight Men.

I don´t think Ayoade would feel comfortable. Brand is quick and witty but kinda tends to suck the oxygen out of every room. Noel is quirky and flamboyant too, but in a much more mellow way, so he complements Ayoade without overshadowing him. Sorry for my english, it sucks and I´m aware of it :)

Am I the only one that watches this whenever I need a pick-me-up?

Noel was so cute on this BFQotY, and I love the way he and Russell interacted. I love how they kissed each others hand after they had won a point and the kiss Noel gave Jimmy at the end!

This makes me realize how dense American tv is compared to English tv. Everyone here is is quick witted and funny. You don't get that here.

I think people don't understand that he is playing up the straight man character. He's playing off of Noel and Russell by being a "dick." I did get that it was an act, especially as a few years later he plays a completely different character with Miranda. But I still found it really trying after a while whenever he's on the show, he's just a little too OTT for me, and doesn't seem to get good chemistry with anyone.
