Your effusive praise of the sound color options on the OG SMSL SU-8 a few years ago really convinced me to get one. I still have that DAC and use it daily. Same flavors - 3 each of crystal, rich, and tube, plus 1 standard. Just wish changing the flavor didn't interrupt the music - that's kind of irritating, but hey. I'll never forget your saying how the names of the sound colors didn't really matter - they may as well have called it "boob 1,2, and 3." 🤣

I think this deserves a sound demo, just you playing around with it while getting to hear it for a little longer. Real interesting.

Well of course it does, if you take a real wood cutting board, the lowend gets a beautful earthy feel and the mids and highs really smooth out. Any real audiphile would have know that already.

Considering the VMV D1se with VMV A2. What would be the best sound quality connection? Noticed the D1se has balanced XLR but the A2 doesn't. Any way to connect L&R XLR into the AES port? COAX maybe? Or do the unbalanced RCA will do the trick? I believe that's how you have it connected for the RB81-II''s.

I switched to WBC , they make instruments true to their sound right down to the pluck of the string, and the beat of the drum.

What is best amp for lets say 12.2 outdoor speakers and what speakers are good for outdoor?!

Weird my sine wave UPS doesn't make any noise at all and I just got a cheap one on Amazon. Still can run my computer for a solid 15 minutes gaming or about 3 hours idling. Plus had issues with my 95X amp getting interference from the noisy electricity in my basement, plugging it in the filter side of the UPS basically fixed it. At least till my cable started to wear down on my 95X and the balance got really messed up. Just bought the Ether CX and used it since.

Basement is almost there. Absorption on the ceiling, Diffusion in 50' away walls, Dedicated lines are the hard part.

Genuinely intresting dac wich is usual.

Most dacs are pretty boring these days. Only difference is like a millionth of a percent distortion 😴

The spikes... what purpose do the spikes on the bottom serve? These devices have no moving parts (except the knobs). Are they just for aesthetic reasons?

Maybach, but its not the same as Acura and Honda.

I hope you don't plug that noisy (electronically) electric fire place into the same circuit as your audio gear. I don't believe any of the audiophile snake oil, but it's just a fact of electronics that noisy appliances on the same circuit will interfere with your audio equipment. Ideally it's best to have your system on a dedicated circuit (nothing else plugged into it). Noise matters the most when it gets on the extremely low level signal on a DAC, because the noise will be amplified by the DAC and go through 3 amplification stages in the preamp and another 3 stages in the power amp. Which can turn a tiny bit of noise into a substantial amount of noise which can considerably degrade the signal going to your speakers.

This is a pretty mild title. What happened to what we brainstormed 😏

@@navinadv Buy it bro, then tell me if you like it more. The D70S is probably like the D90, really neutral and boring. I want some sound colors.

Why you always shitting on MQA? MQA DACs actually benefit Non-MQA music because of the filters used in the DAC. Research the MQA technology more and learn about the improvements such a DAC can offer. That’s why you like DACs that offer the tech. Sounds perfect like you say. Don’t follow the MQA hater crowd and maybe speak more about the DAC’s sound properties like soundstage, imaging, impulse response, etc. instead of simply talking about the analog EQ settings that only color the sound.
