Definitely a positive CG. They originate from the very top of the thunderstorm and can upwards of 1,000 times more powerful than a standard lightning bolt. They are nicknamed bolts from the blue because they can strike tens of miles away from the core of the storm, in clear blue skies. They are the bolts that explode whole trees, shake stuff off of your walls and set off car alarms across whole city blocks. They are truly impressive.

god I remember having a similar thunder strike like this but everyone was asleep, I bolted out of bed and was just standing there in a half awake fight or flight mode , I'm 28 and once I calmed down I still had to call my mom and slept with my humidifier light on lol those thunder strikes are cool but horrifying to wake up too

I remember those nights, back in the 90s. Man, they came so sudden. I would be sleeping on the living room floor, then BAAM! I would suddenly wake up in the dark alone.

Positive lighting strikes have the most amazing thunder sounds I ever heard. It's unavailable how far the sounds can travel and make the ground vibrate.
