Big Block Torque Breaks Parts! Time For a Spool…

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

As the title says, big block torque breaks parts. As you saw in previous videos, the big bad Bird has a new C6 transmission with a lot of upgrades including a Broader transmission brake. Before leaving Cope Racing Transmissions to bring my car home, I did three quick test hits. That 521 cubic inch big block Ford makes a ton of torque. The first test hit felt fine, the second felt a little funny, and the third test hit... well the traction lock decided to say goodnight. No biggie, I was planning on ditching the 4.30s and a traction lock for 4.86s with a spool, I just happened to have one laying around the shop.
In this video we are up at Kyle's Hack Shack wrenching away. We have quite of bit of work to do, but tonight we are focused on swapping the center section in my 1968 Ford Thunderbird. Our plan is to get it swapped, inspect the axles, and call it a night. No smokey burnouts or even testing it out, we know it will be a late night and don't want to wake everyone up, ha! Stay tuned though, I am sure 2 Hacks Garage will be doing some Cuban test hits sooner than later!!

No reason to throw rocks at that Speedway center section! I had a '67, swapped in a Ford "N" center-section from my Torino Cobra W/4.30s , C6 with a brake. Little side yammer - these cars hook with so little work! I used quick Times, and 'at full flank' the USS Thunderbird would carry the left front at about 3 to 4" off the pavement a good 50' out and she'd only twist the 31 spline axles from time to time - never had a problem with the center sectiom. They're such cool cars!, I loved mine!!!!!

Thank you!! I cannot wait to try this out! The lower planetary gears and lower rear ratio should be a blast!!

@@2HacksGarage Figure these cars are the equivalent of a heavy '70 Chevelle - but the rear suspension geometry is better RIGHT FROM FORD! Good, hard, urethane, or solid alum. Bushings all through the rear suspension, a tall pinion snubber, and an airbag in the passenger side rear spring (start about 25psi) - and it SHOULD leave hard enough to make your neck sore. There's also 100s of pounds behind trim panels, also up under the dash, under the car, and a bit underhood that NO ONE will notice is gone!!!! Have fun!

@@2HacksGarage Placing all that grunt, right down off the line. You'll probably going to have to tub the car to complete the full drag setup, wont you?
