Impressive cutting at the end, especially with such a low power motor. I had trouble just getting my saw started and up to speed with the big blade I have, and that's a 1hp motor.

Wow, I have been watching for four years but new epic zoom at 7:38! Love, your fellow Kanuckistanian. (Re AvE)
Its never going to end, its going to be every couple of years, Matthias makes an even bigger bandsaw.

Wintergatan Just wanted to thank you for what you do, you're an inspiration
I’m getting that plan, sir. I decided I’m not going to buy a new band saw but instead give this a shot. I thank you very much for making these ideas and your wonderful videos and know-hows available to lesser folks woodworkers like me. You are an angel on earth. God bless you.
Inspiring. The only "box" you ever acknowledge is one of your own making, and whenever it becomes restrictive, you tear it down and build one that conforms to you. I have some 1/2 HP motors (scrounged for free) and have been trying to figure out how big a disk sander I can build with one. Now, I see that the real question is how big a disk I want, then to just get it done. Thanks, Matthias, keep the projects going!
KZread must be glitchy these days, I could swear I just saw him do pocket holes....

Well there were no fancy blue pocket hole guides used. I'm no fan of pocket holes myself, but they have their place. I have a blue guide for making them too.

+Dennis Lubert I love this joke far too much. :D What if he did the pocket hole video just to mess with us?
Matthias, you are a man amongst men! Excellent work.
I never cease to be impressed by how you manage to never sacrifice density of value for brevity of video. Video creators would be wise to study your approach to shot lists and editing. It would be great for getting their view count up, while always delivering tons of value.
Clamp the clamps was great! Nice work! Will be waiting for the plans!
I thought this was a Steve Ramsey video because of the pocket holes until I saw the Wandel Test Jump (patented) and heard its going to be green! It's all good now.
Very impressive, Dad and I have watched the full making of this band saw and we have decided that we are going to make one simply because we like the idea of making all our own items for the workshop just so that we can build the Workshop to the way we like. thanks for showing us your new bandsaw making 👍🏼😊 it's one very cool piece of equipment and worthy of a place in the workshop🙃
This is certainly an epic build! No wonder you're anxious to "just get it done." The detail you put into your builds and your videos is amazing and very satisfying. Thank you
So satisfying to watch you mill that log. You're a wizard, Mr. Wandel. Cheers.
I admire your obstinate resistance to pocket holes and your droll sarcasm when commenting on your rare uses of them. I also admire your clever and resourceful work-arounds when pockets would be so much easier, more practical, and adequate. Meanwhile, I'll continue to learn from your well-crafted projects and videos. Thanks for producing them. And merry Christmas to you and your family.
Witam!!Ulepszanie pily tasmowej jak najbardziej wskazane i pomocne w warsztacie!!Wysoki kunszt i dobry pomysl!! Majstersztyk!!Prima!!Dobry material filmowy!!
This is excellent. Can't wait for the plans. Please please make a scissor lift soon. Very expensive for many people and needed to help with bad backs too.
Clamping the clamps made me smile. Looks nice!
Oh those indispensable pocket hole screw joints. Nice job on this larger bandsaw. Agreed, a stronger motor is a must. First thing I noticed when you fired it up & cut the part for the lower wheel guard. As an aside, I read somewhere that green is a favourite colour of those with genius intellects.
Seriously one of the coolest channels on KZread.

Your engineering always impresses me. You and John always amaze me with what you guys can figure out and build from scratch.
"I couldn't really think of a good way of attaching this part to the frame so instead I'm using pocket holes" LOL!
Matthias you are always surprising everyone with what you do. You're a genius!
Matthias, It's fantastic. That saw is a beast!!
Love the clamp on clamp idea. Simple solutions to annoying problems.
Matthias, great video. I always learn something. Today's lesson was your method for handling threaded inserts. Total "why didn't I think of that" moment.
A beauty, a Bonnie, and a joy forever! Looks absolutely awesome
You sir are a freaking genuis! I am amazed at all the things you build. Thanks for posting all your videos.
I'm impressed by the fact that a 250W (1/3 HP) motor in combination with a new/sharp blade can cut/saw such a big log. I would not have expected that.
With so much ingenuity and hard work and time put into your designs Matthias, these comments all seem kind of trivial (not to offend anyone really). I truly hope you realize how much we all appreciate you doing what you do. This bandsaw looks even better than the last, seeing where you go with a solution vs the direction others may take is a big part of why I watch all of your videos. You are an innovator extrordinaire! And yet mortal, ie. pocket holes. lol sorry couldn't resist. Seriously though I look forward to the plans coming out. I want to really examine the changes you have implemented for the larger size. I want to build a 48" bandsaw, I have the space. But it may be years before I do. Meanwhile back to finishing my 16" Thanks again for all the great work you share with us. Merry Christmas
Very cool Matthias. I always enjoy watching how your approach woodworking, somewhat like I do. Build it, and then take on an obstacles as they arise.
It's always satisfying to watch things fitting like a glove, without the trouble of the manual labor.
looks very strong and even safer than my commercial one. Very nice.
Thank you so much for these videos. You have an amazing talent and are an amazing inspiration!
this machine truely is very nifty, well done matthias
Great video and a nice beat at 0:29
3:49 woah what a shot. Didn't know that cut pieces can go so fast!
Beautiful work, my friend!! It's been fun watching you watching you build this over the several videos! Thanks for sharing.
Came for the clever woodwork, stayed for the trolling of pocket holers! Ace fun to watch as always.
Amazing work, Matthias.
I love to see your projects come together. Thanks for the video.
LOL! 7:38 ... love the retro look of the zoom emphasizing something important.
Thought I felt the earth tilt slightly recently. Must have been the day you used pocket holes. Nice job Matt. I have no intentions of ever building my own bandsaw, but I really enjoy watching you do it.

This must be an imposter. Will the real slim Matthias please stand up?
It's easy to grow fond of our tools, especially after having such intimate knowledge of their design and requirements. A proper load test (8:38) may require a helper, but that's a different video. Great build as always!
Thumbs up for the trick to close up that joint with a lateral clamp-clamp. Also I appreciate you keep demonstrating the safe tablesaw technique with the two push sticks Even though it would be even safer to also use the riving knife and most of all, the blade cover ;-)
Hey Matthias Wandel...Saying Hello From Texas!!
amazing job! you blow me away with what you come up with to solve problems or make a solution to something
Amazing as always! I saw a lot of wood debris collecting on the inner-tube covered wheels, ever thought about attaching brushes at some point to clean off the extra debris to minimize slippage? Keep up the good work!
@matthiaswandel
7 жыл бұрын
Slippage is a non issue. A lot of blade tension is needed to keep it straight, so the blade won't slip, even if it were on wooden wheels.

Matthias Wandel Thanks for the reply! Good to know, less maintenance.
I can't tell you how impressed I am with your audacity to build a bandsaw for yourself, let alone three! It looks like it runs well already, even without the proper horsepower. I hope you are able to find a 5 hp motor for that beast.
"I couldn't think of any *good* way of attaching this part to the frame, so instead I'm using pocket holes". Legendary!
Neat build. I enjoyed watching you make part of the bandsaw with itself.
I love it when you use the machine that you are building to make parts for the machine that you are building.
Can't wait to see what it does with a bigger motor!!!!
you're me hero. simply amazing watching you build stuff. keep it up. - DC
you are truly one motivated guy.
I really enjoy your videos. I enjoy them even more when you use pocket holes and the comment section goes crazy!
Thanks for another interesting video. I always enjoy seeing what your up to in your shop. I used your free gear generator program recently and would like to say thanks for making it available. Best regards.
Matthias for World President! The smartest guy alive
That sawmill blade is crazy scary looking! Even with that small motor, I bet it chews through a log pretty decent.
Using clamps to clamp clamps. This man is onto something!

Can't wait till you build a 24 inch bandsaw! :)
"I couldn't think of a good way so instead I'm using pocketholes"? Sick burn ;)
Amazing tool, trully trully amazing. Would love to see it working with a 1HP motor BTW: 5:21 "I couldn't really think of a way of attaching this part of the frame so instead I'm using pocket holes" The legend continues!!!
if the plans for the big brother need the use of the smaller bandsaw, then you just gave me the perfect excuse to buy both plans :)
Matthias, add a brush wiper to the bottom so that the wheel stays cleaner from sawdust, especially pine gluey stuff :)
Man, this thing is very impressive. Much better than my horrible fright bandsaw which cuts nicely for about a day
There's something oddly amusing about using the saw you're building to build the saw you're using. :D I love this build.
I was worried that you would not paint it green. I'm glad you mentioned you will
Hey Matthias. I like your new top cover design. I think it will be more practical than the old one. I always had the tensionning crank getting in the way
Great build!! Can't wait to see it with a more poweful motor doing some serious milling!
Great build. Probably the most intelligent man on youtube. ;-)
If I ever get to build my own workshop I will have to buy your bandsaw plans, I think other than the pantorouter they are my fav.
I've been watching your videos for 2 days,, and I guess i will keep re-watching all of them until i save a plane ticket to come shake your hand sir
Genius idea with the clamp on the clamps to close the miter!
very nice! I'm looking forward to buying the plans. your very inspirational.
Will be good to see it with its final motor
Matthias, your videos just get better and better, It is impossible to watch watch them and not be inspired . Pay no attention to the idiots.
Awesome work! that is brilliant!
Bravo!!!!!Sei l'unico continua sempre così.
Pocket holes! finally a project I can try!
It looks awesome, great job! 1 "feature Idea" that I came up with for mine (commercial craftsman): When doing blade changes, the hinged door/guards end up swinging in the way constantly! I put a string against the wall to hold them open whiel I'm doing this, but perhaps building a spring into the hinge to keep it open would be a cool feature.
Awesome work ... wish you all the best
Bravo Matthias!
Love how you are making this saw using the saw too
8:00 nice! Probably the normal way to do that, but didn't know this one, thanks for sharing!
Matthias you were featured on a Vsause video! congrats man, the video is called "spinning"
Beautiful work.
Its really master piece of work. 👍
impressive project. thanks for sharing.
it must be great to build anything you need or want. great videos

That was a great build.
Always found something about adding the splines afterwards oddly satisfying.
