Óbidos Portugal - Day Trip From Lisbon
We are traveling through central Portugal this week and visiting the medieval city of Óbidos. Just a hour drive north of Lisbon, Óbidos makes for a fun and easy day trip. On this episode we will show you the GORGEOUS streets of Óbidos, the historic medieval walls which protect the city, the mouth watering food you don't want to miss out on, and share our BIG travel mistake we made so you don't make it, too. You will not believe what we discovered in the neighboring town!
We are an American family from Nashville, Tennessee who moved to Lisbon, Portugal a year ago to make traveling our lifestyle. We sold almost everything we own, and embarked on this new adventure to go see the world. With our two daughters, we are currently traveling with goals to see everything from Lisbon to Paris, and from Istanbul to Tokyo.
We are currently traveling central Portugal and bringing you all the best places to travel to all over the country.

Stayed three nights at the pousada …..the castle…..back in 1977….not crowded then… What has happened to my Portugal?
Parabéns on your first year in Portugal. I love Óbidos. I was very fortunate... I lived about 23 minutes away AND took my Portuguese lessons right beside the main gate, so I would naturally walk around after every class. I got to experience it during Christmas, Vila Natal and through January and February. It never got too, too crowded and most of the time it was quiet (except at Christmas). Buddha Eden wasn't open when I lived there but I look forward to many visits. Loved watching the chocolate eating. You two are a lot of fun. I wonder if you brought home a box for your daughter to try!? To me the BomBokas looked like they were chocolate-covered marshmallow (and I love chocolate and marshmallow). They are pretty tasty. I was surprised at how good the pizza was in Óbidos as well. My favourite thing though was the Hot Chocolate in the castle mugs (I wonder if they still have them?)... Hot chocolate was something I really missed my winter in Portugal. The only place I could find that served it the way I like it was Óbidos. (in other words, not so think you can stand a spoon up, in it... and not dark chocolate)... but you do have to try it with the Ginjinha... soooo delicious! A terrific video Mandy & Kyle! Obrigada ~

Thank you so much! Ah, you had it best loving so close! That must have been so nice! You will love visiting Buddha Eden- it is so peaceful and serene. You’ll have to tell us what you think of the Bombokas when you try them! They probably are marshmallows - just slightly different texture than how we know marshmallows in the US. They were so delicious. You will love them! Hot chocolate ginja sounds INCREDIBLE 🤤! We will definitely try that next time we go. Thank you for the tip! Yes, I considered myself very fortunate to live in Atouguia da Baleia (Peniche) and being able to spend so much time in Óbidos. I did try the Bombokas... it was good but I did think it was going to be a marshmallow. Have a great week... thank you for the video. Looking forward to the next one :) @@mandyandkyle
