In Ukraine the one that wins is the one that has more drones and planes in the air and more artillery. Ukraine is just flatlands with flatlands with some more flatlands on top so you can see vehicles from miles away. It's mostly irrelevant what vehicle you have if it gets hit by a 155mm / 152mm shell.

No they’re in melitopol with their unit (82nd air assault brigade). That challenger was caught in a minefield and hit by artillery. The challenger is a sniper rifle of the tank world. Used properly, it shouldn’t be in a position to be hit.

Weakened by decades of sanctions, all that was left of Iraq was the numbers and not the quality, Iraq didn't even have MIC worthy of supporting the 4th largest army. Most of thier equipment was- export versions of the original tech. Much like Ukraine, without the backing of NATO Plus, it would have been long buried. You really can't compare the two wars.

Russians never claimed Armata is indestructible. As.a matter of fact the turret doesn't have heavy armor plating. The Armata was designed to protect its personnel in armored capsule deep beneath the tank for the to walk out alive.

NATO defense ministers stated multipe times that they predict losses, but they ship the tanks because they are indeed better than the current Ukrainian stockpile because they are more survivable. No one said the leporid 2 or Challenger was invincible, we have videos to PROVE that in turkey and Iraq, but Russia makes it out to be such a big deal.

As an American who makes decent money but still lives paycheck to paycheck I guess my tax dollars going to Ukraine isn't so bad because at least it's going to a good cause. The thing that bothers me is the current administration has done nothing but made stupid decisions that all make things more difficult for the people. The price of living keeps going up and the wages stay the same. I honestly can't think of a single thing notable that the current administration has done that has been signifcantly above average. It's a frustrating time.

All tanks are vulnverable to RPGs hitting the tops of the tank. The big difference between US tanks and Russian tanks is that the crew in American tanks have a good chance of surviving. Crew training, tactics and supporting elements are more important than armor thickness. For example, Russia has much more EW equipment to jam drone communications than Ukraine.

The different is crew survivability. Russian tank are way smaller and lighter so hit invariably kill the crew, they were called 'SMT' (Soviet Medium Tank) in the 1980s. T-80 weighted 38 ton, M1 weight 60 ton

@@redemissarium You are not wrong, but the biggest difference is that the ammo is stored around the base of the turret for the auto loader to access. The rounds surrounds and are fully visible to the commander and gunner. A penetration sets off the ready ammo, generating the fly turret characteristics of Russian tanks. US tanks has a loader who take individual rounds out of a separate ammo bin (located in the turret bustle) to load the gun. If that is hit, blow out panels direct the blast outside of the tank, rather than inward, keeping the crew safe.

Tanks are totally obsolete now. We need to stop spending millions for one tank that can easily be destroyed by a simple grenade launcher or drone.

The amount of cope in this comment is crazy... The only real difference between the M1A1 and M1A2 is that the M1A2, gets a better navigation system and gives the commander its own thermal viewer, besides that the armor is basically still the same. The abrams didn't get upgraded armor till the SEP v1 which gave it ERA on the sides of the hull, SEP v2 which put additional ERA on the turret sides ,and finally the SEP v3 which gave it DU ( depleted uranium ) implants in its hull.

Ukraine had 2,500 tanks at the beginning of the war and another 4,000 in warehouses, and all Soviet tanks from the Warsaw pact were also transferred to them. I do not know how many tanks Ukraine has lost, but it is known for sure that Western tanks are destroyed in the first days of hostilities. This means that their mortality rate is 100% on the battlefield.

31 abrams have been sent, none of which have seen the front until like a week ago. thats a record of roughly one tank destroyed or damaged every 2 days-ish. Russia likely has over 1000 tanks in the zone of the SMO, and each day roughly 2-3 are destroyed or damaged. that is at most 1/333 each day as opposed to 1/10. 1. These are not the most advanced Abrams we have, these are first edition from back-up supplies. Model M1A1 and export models to boot, so they really don't have all the bells and whistles you would have with our own tanks. 2. Really Russia going to brag about 3 tanks over a few weeks when they are losing 5 times that in the same time period? The British Challengers and the German Leopards have also been knocked out as well, so its not just our tanks. 3. No tank exists to combat the new Drone attacks, so it makes sense, we have yet to develop the defense for that, most likely we will by watching to see what happens. Ukraine is the one who pretty much came up with it, not Russian forces. 4. You have crew who have had a few weeks training under their belt crewing these tanks...imagine what would happen if you put a well trained crew in them. 5. How many Russian tanks have those 3 taken out before they were knocked out? 6. War is about attrition, You lose equipment in war....so not surprising this happened. 7. There is no support for those tanks like US doctrine. Our tanks go into the battle field with troop support, air support, and IFV's. Truly, don't understand people and their thinking who are laughing at this. FYI 23 Abrams were destroyed in the Iraq war, almost half by friendly fire. War does knock things out like Abrams tanks. But in a brawl tank to tank which it was designed for back in 1975 to go toe to toe with Russian armor, the Abrams wins hands down...oh yeah, you are talking about a tank designed back in the 70's....were there drones back then? Were there drones back in Iraq? So a tank designed back in 1975, green crew, first version, export version, isn't doing well against a drone attack....Not laughable at all, its just not the right tool for the job over there. You'd be better off using the same amount of money in Drones and missiles. And those tanks have been on the battlefield since Feb of 2023...so one year before loses started happening? That sounds like a good track record to me. Only took a year for the Russians to figure out how to knock one out.

The difference is the Abrams does not blow up and hurl the turret 100 meters with a resulting dead crew. Crew survival is the biggest difference. No tank is invulnerable.

At least their turrets don't eject into space when they're hit.
