And part of the reason he does that is because he regrets how he treated Freddie Mercury…. Aside from that, Elton seems like a decent guy all around. Eminem was called homophonic because of some his lyrics and Elton John played piano and sang for the song Stan. Then years later Eminem spiraled out of control and almost died from drugs. The person who helped Eminem get sober is Elton John and the two of them remain really good friends still today.

"Legend" isn't enough to describe the kind of person Elton John is. This is a very well-deserved award for a man who is not only a phenomenal musician but a caring human being who gave back to the world and has been working extremely hard with his foundation to fight HIV/AIDS. In times like these, we need a world that is guided by love and care, rather than blinded by fear and hate. Thank you, Sir Elton, for everything. I look forward to seeing you perform live in 2 weeks.

I honestly wish I'd been born a bit earlier than I was (early 70s) because I missed out on great 70s music (which I obviously can still find). I didn't really become aware of some of the great artists (including Elton John) until I was older. He has had such a long successful career. It is sad that it is coming to an end, but he deserves some R&R.
What a wonderful exchange of appreciation from one decent human being to another. The world needs more of THIS. Thank you.

YES Elton has been deserving this Honor for a long time. I know how very hard Elton wants to help the unfortunate souls that got HIV through no fault of their own. We have lost too many great people, I even lost my son in 2016 do to the evil's of HIV-AIDS.

Elton John is a wonderful entertainer, but an even greater humanitarian! This award acknowledges his music talents--but even more honors him with great appreciation and high regard for his efforts and role in funding HIV and AIDS research and treatment! Without him, we still would not have medications to treat and CONTROL it! He and Princess Diana together worked to make the response to AIDS a humanitarian approach instead of one filled with hate and scorn. Because of his generosity of time and dedication to fundraising to fight HIV/AIDS, he is head and shoulders above most musicians!
