Elton John Let Stevie Wonder Drive His Snowmobile
Комедия
Elton talks about writing his great new memoir “Me,” touring since he was 17, wanting to be home with his kids, letting Stevie Wonder drive his snowmobile, playing charades at Neil Diamond’s house with Bob Dylan, being a technophobe, not owning a cell phone, his love of paper shredding, and he weighs in on the shoe color debate.

@@lolsup9817 Well, I think Jimmy only asked it because it’s talked about in the book. He was promoting the book. But, yeah it can be uncomfortable to talk about that especially in Elton’s case.
My mom saw his first NYC show at the Fillmore East in November of 1970. He was the opener and virtually unknown. She didn’t buy the ticket to see him and yet she couldn’t even remember the name of the headliner (I’ve since looked it up and it was Leon Russell.) She said everyone was talking when Elton John started playing because they didn’t care - then quickly were mesmerized and he was called out for an encore during the headliners set. I saw him in concert around 2003/4 but man, wish I’d been there at the Fillmore East ❤️✌️🌈

The thing that hurts me too much is that as I was watching Rocketman I realized that even though Elton had so much things going on in his life, good and bad, he still managed to put a smile on his face even if it wasn’t real and he managed to put a smile on his fans faces and I’m so grateful for that. Some people are saying that Jimmy is being rude but everything that he’s asking is coming directly from Elton’s book, including Elton’s addiction to cocaine. Elton’s there to promote his book, so they’re going to talk about what’s in it. Elton talks about his cocaine use a lot in his book.
@ivanylassirenas
4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but it's not very correct to think that you have the right or privilege to talk or joke about someone's life (or problem in this case) because that person made it already public. Elton can talk about his cocaine addiction all he wants because it's his life, not Jimmy's. Also, there are moments where you can talk things and moments where you shouldn't. Elton John was talking about his love for music, there is no point to bring another matter to the chat in that moment, especially a delicate one like his addiction.
@brownvirtue
4 жыл бұрын
Ivan Brignone I would agree with you except that Elton is there to talk about the book and Jimmy is bringing up what’s in the book. If someone was there to promote a book on surviving a heart attack, Jimmy would bring up the heart attack.. He’s a comedian so he would talk about it in a humorous way. If Elton’s book was about songwriting or parenthood and it never mentioned drug abuse, then Jimmy would be out of line. But Elton was very frank about his drug use in the book. Not shameful but grateful that he got sober. If Elton was that sensitive, he wouldn’t have written a book about it or go on talk shows, especially not a late night show with a comedian as the host.

This is one of my all time favorite Elton stories and the way he tells it kills me 😂 I love him too!!!
The man is a master showman. In the '70s he played Rich Stadium in Orchard Park outside Buffalo. It was a warm day, but a steady, light rain had all 60-some thousand of us soaked. The band performed under a giant awning that kept them dry, and un-electrocuted. Goodbye Yellowbrick Road had come out a while before, and he performed a lot of those hits. So, a couple of numbers into his set, Elton gets up from the piano, walks to the very front of the stage, and says, "The band and I just want to say how much we appreciate you sitting here in the rain to hear our music." In that instant, a roadie runs up and drenches Elton with a bucket of water. A second roadie tosses him a big white towel. Elton whips the towel around his neck, RUNS back to his piano, and starts pounding out Saturday Night's All Right for Fighting. Well, the crowd goes up for grabs, the party really gets going, and Elton John could do no wrong.

I've loved Elton John since before I was a teen 40 years ago and he is better than ever. I just finished his book "Me" and it is fascinating and often hilarious, just like this interview. I had heard bits and pieces over the years but it is so great to have so much detail all in one book and from the official source. I'm so happy for him that he has been sober so many years and has made the most of his life and family. He is truly a great example for many others in the world of rock, but also open and honest about himself and willing to admit mistakes like we all should be. He has done an amazing amount for the cause of AIDS and I admire him very much for that too. I hope you will read his book and enjoy it as much as I did.
Elton John's music superceds all generations. Once I was in the car with 3 generations - from 9yo to 80yo and we put on EJ's greatest hits -- we all sang along and everyone loved it. There are not many artist's like that.

no, he mentioned books and CD's , i consider CD's exempt now
I saw him and David at the Rocket Man world premiere at Cannes. Some memories you will just never forget. I fantasize that some day he will invite me to their home in the Nice hills!
I love each and everyone of his glasses, they are always best and most unusual designs ❤❤❤
Cannot imagine my teen years in the 70s without his music! Peace! Love! ✌💖🤘

his farewell tour keeps adding dates. it might still be going on in 5 years. but he'll do a residency somewhere. he mentioned it before and his husband said he'd get bored if he stopped working.

@@rop888 him adding dates to his tour is the only reason I was able to get tickets so thanks for that!
Love Elton John..... been around a very long time! Been listening to his music since the 60's.
My first thumbs up for this show because Elton makes it so easy to host him - a delightful guest with a fascinating history.
Man he would've been fun to party with! He seems like such a dedicated parent, bless him and his beautiful family
So clever, talented & funny. He wrote the soundtrack to our lives.
Got the audiobook and listened to it a few times it’s that funny.
I listened to the audiobook and had such a great time. It felt like someone just causally telling a story about what happened in his life (since it's audio), and although there were parts of his life that weren't the best, there are a bunch of stories that made me crack up! 🤣🤣
