These are obviously completely unrelated. Jails were a breeding ground for COVID. Releasing people from jail was done to help minimize deaths from COVID. And, the huge majority of the people released were non-violent. Obviously this situation is about a person (who happened to be Amish) who is selling milk which has not gone through the well proven process of making it safe for consumption. We've known about the risks associated with raw milk for many decades.

Amish are probably the most environmentally friendly people around. This tells you it's not about green tech.

Yet, almost everyday massive amounts of meats, or vegetables are recalled in the US, or people actually get sick. Same, my grandparents used to grow all of their food including chicken, cow, goat, even fish products. I notice the difference when I started eating more in fast food places and all of the trash food with preservatives and fake aditives.

I worked for "Snyder's Pretzels and chips" delivering to stores mostly , but one day a week my route was to delivery to all the small shops in Holmes County Ohio. It is a community thick with Amish and Mennonite people. These were small shops that resold in bulk foods. Barrels lined the stores filled with flour, sugar , oats etc. They purchased my pretzels in bulk too. They had different types of retail stores in towns such as " New Hope" They had a quilt store, a harness shop, other shops for buggies, a black smith shop and horse dressings etc. The stores and town was small but busy. Several purchased from me so , Most owned the shop they worked at, so, I got to know them well. I was invited to and ate dinner in their homes and not many " English " as they call us, have gotten to know them that well. I could share so much of their wisdom with you today but TOO LONG, so I will tell you what "Old man Weaver" a bulk food store owner told me in 1986 when he was 96 years old at the time. I was telling him about the space shuttle, when he said" the most important and best thing that the English ever invented was...........wait for it.......... Ice cream... Kind of stuck with me from a man who said the year he was born, 1890 is where I get off of the " technology train" Happiest people on the planet in a world wide study. ...makes me wonder.

In fairness it is a bit hypocritical the way they live. They claim to live apart but they pick and choose the aspects of modern society that suit them. They don't drive but hire others to drive them around when they need it. They use the roads but don't pay for them. They pay very little in taxes. They have their own schools but not their own fire, police or medical assets. They could not survive as they do without all the "English" around them subsidizing their existence with technology (and purchasing from them). Overall nice people but a bit of a sham.

To be fair, the only question I have that has yet to be answered is whether this farmer’s meat was usda inspected. Maybe where I live is different, but it doesn’t matter how the cattle was raised (or whether you use chemicals and what not) but whether it passed state or federal inspection before offering it for sale to market.

This is inaccurate. They shut him down because.he refused to process his butchering in a clean facility separated from the stored ready-to-sell products. There are plenty of Amish farmers in America that are successful using propane refrigeration that is within their practice. Also, he is trying to use protected community farm privilege but was selling products through third parties over state lines and several cases of Listeria came back to his food. I am big on food freedom but this is bad reporting. The USDA is holding people who are poisoning other people accountable. You should really look over the 1906 meat packing act. It's appalling what the industry was allowed to do beforehand without regulations.

In all fairness, this goes back to a 2016 case brought against Mr. Miller for violating USDA inspection rules related to two people getting listeriosis after supposedly consuming raw milk from Miller's farm. There is nothing new about this case, this is just the most recent chapter.

Question: Did they PROVE that the listeria came from his farm and with no tampering at any point along the way?

The Amish are religious, so that is likely another reason for targeting the Amish. Was the USDA involved? Is this under the purview of the US marshals, or is it another overstepping of another government agency? I’d rather risk my luck with Amish food rather than mass produced cricket-flour which the government approves us consuming. There are too many unanswered questions regarding this clip.

The USDA is involved I have been keeping up with this story. It’s local. It’s disgusting how the USDA treats the Amish. I buy A LOT from the local Mennonite community and have quite a few friends. As a lady, I love other Mennonite ladies and the level of skills it takes to maintain their lifestyle. The USDA is under the impression that the food they grow is not safe because they use old styles of food preparation. The rules are so crazy. For example I make jellies and jams. If I wanted to sell my my jams I would have to put a large sticker on them stating that it is prepared in a home kitchen. If I gift the same item I could be in legal trouble…all because the jam is sealed. I do not know the exact stabilization date on every single jar I make because it is NOT full of preservatives. Same with my Mennonite friends. So we always suggest consumption within a month or sniff test the food. But seriously it’s common sense to not eat spoiled food. I think the USDA is important for bad actors. But it is not always fair to the little guy. Look at the baby formula issues…is that not the same as someone buying a bad jar of jam and coming back to me to exchange it free of charge?

Amos Miller farms has had numerous listeria outbreaks since 2014. People have died from these products.

My daughter works at a place that knows this whole story. His fines have been paid. Back in 15-16 the FDA came in and told him he couldn’t sell to the public but he could sell to members. That’s what everyone did, they became members. His business thrived. Now that wasn’t good enough for the FDA so they want to shut him down. The Amish community in our area won’t let that happen! I live close by to this.

It all started in 2016, when two listeriosis illnesses that occured in 2014 were traced back to raw milk sold by Miller’s Organic Farm. Both infected people had to be hospitalized, and one tragically died from the illness. The USDA has been trying to bring the farm into compliance with federal regulations ever since, but it’s been a long hard series of court battles, in part because Miller has been, by his own admission, less than fully co-operative with the government. Miller is facing fines and jail time for his actions.

Pray for those Amish farmers. God help us.

You have no idea what you're talking about. This farmer has been in a years long dispute with the FDA over his refusal to follow food safety regulations. Judges and regulators have bent over backwards to help him comply with the law but he refuses. We first discovered he wasn't following regulations when one of his customers actually died from consuming his listeria tainted milk. But Tuckums won't tell you that part of the story.

This is inaccurate. They shut him down because.he refused to process his butchering in a clean facility separated from the stored ready-to-sell products. There are plenty of Amish farmers in America that are successful using propane refrigeration that is within their practice. Also, he is trying to use protected community farm privilege but was selling products through third parties over state lines and several cases of Listeria came back to his food. I am big on food freedom but this is bad reporting. The USDA is holding people who are poisoning other people accountable. You should really look over the 1906 meat packing act. It's appalling what the industry was allowed to do beforehand without regulations.

Gov gives $47billion tax dollars to farm subsidies per year, most go to big rich farms that make unhealthy food. Those farms r often tax exempt, not only do they not pay taxes, they receive billions of tax dollars. They r also one of politicans biggest donors. All it is is big rich farms and gov stealing the public's tax dollars. Many amish refuse to accept tax money, and many dont even qualify for much if any farm subsidies, as they r mainly for big rich farms that make unhealthy food. Ban farm subsidies.

Speaking as a retired soldier, I have observed over the years that there's something about putting on a uniform that dehumanizes people. There's nothing like a uniform to promote "group think" and diminish individual conscience. Hey, those marshals were only following orders, right? Add to the uniform phenomenon the drive for self preservation. Yeah, there may have been a couple of marshals who quietly dissented against the raid on the farm. But maybe they were up for promotions or were too invested in their retirement plan to speak out. Either way, this doesn't excuse government overreach. What we are seeing is the end result of a complete leftist socialist takeover of the Western world.

I have purchased products from this farm for years and the quality has always been outstanding. I am so very sad to see this. What a huge overreach and a nuclear alarm for the rest of us. while I think it can be a date to have, the usefulness of federally regulated food safety inspections, if the law is that you cannot sell meat to the public that has not been inspected, and you do so, even after multiple court ordered injunctions to cease doing so...is it over reach when they come for your meat? The fight to be fought is in the court over the efficacy of such regulations, not simply flouting them and doing as you wish. I won't argue that the meat is like better tasting and better for you being closer to 'natural' vs. large industrial farms and the shenanigans they get up to - but at the same time, one must take it on faith that the uninspected meat IS free of disease and bacteria...yes, it also goes for inspected, as things slip through sometimes, but your chances are numerically less so with the inspected product, and the further you are from that meat's source, the more liklihood of getting 'bad meat' goes up due to potentials for mishandling and storage en route.
