"Bible"
(originally by Imperiet)
The Earth was spinning all vacant and waste
And there was silence over the ocean
When a voice came thundering from above
The first day of light was in motion
And the voice said may fruits be created
And seeds take root as they may
And no crimes were as yet committed
Life was breathing its second day
In his image this voice made a man
And a woman to love each other
They became the rulers of the world
And the third day was their mother
Now who will pray for Babylon
Sing a song to Babylon
On their knees before Babylon
Beat that drum because Babylon is falling
Man and woman learned how to make fire
And the kingdom's walls were extended
By the fourth day the walls were reaching so far
No one knew where they ended
Now no one heard that voice anymore
And metal cities came to ascend
On the fifth day spring turned into fall
And a rain fell over the land
But no walls can stop such a rain
That keeps falling forevermore
I was told that by the sixth day
The world was like an open sore
Now who will pray for Babylon
Sing a song to Babylon
On your knees before Babylon
Beat that drum because Babylon is falling
The Earth was spinning all vacant and a waste
And there was silence over the oceans
When a voice came thundering from above
The seventh day was in motion
Now who will pray for Babylon
Sing a song to Babylon
On your knees the people of Babylon
Beat that drum because Babylon is falling
Falling
I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created, and with them the animals,
the birds and the creatures that move along the ground, for I regret that I have made them

Speaking as a Christian, I find much of Ghost’s music to be beautiful. It troubles me that any artist as gifted as Tobias would perpetuate a belief in unbelief, or worse, belief in an entity specifically in opposition to the idea of ultimate goodness. This song is beautiful. Tobias is a brilliant musician and arranger. I wish he would get away from the Satanic shtick, if in fact it’s only a shtick. If he’s truly into Satan, then he needs to choose that side. Playing at Satanism is almost as bad as being a legit Satanist. For those who think religion is a racket, that’s fair enough. I’m just saying that we Christians believe in God the Creator and His son, Jesus Christ. Despite the beauty in so many Ghost songs, there’s no reason to insult Christians, and no reason to make a mockery of Christianity, unless one is truly devoted to that task. Otherwise, reconsider. There are a lot of people you could reach without being overtly contemptuous of believers in God.

@@flapjackson6077 I grew up in the Christian church and am thankful for many memories but I also just couldn't accept certain things about it. If it's true and it's all real then I'm just being who "God" created me to be. My primary issue came as a teenager when our youth group went to a Christian haunted house. For those unfamiliar with this absurdity they're generally about narrowly escaping going to hell forever...and you see the story play out of young people, one who went to church and knew "God" and one who didn't and to see one pal skip off joyfully, rather mockingly in fact moments after he AND J.C. tell Pal two to phuuck off....to hekk!!! And then ghoulies come and drag him off and hekk is impressive let me tell you! Lakes of fire and demons and gnashing of teeth and all that. In the end there are 3 doors to take...door 1 means you want to join the church, door 2 means youre already in the church and door 3 leads to Rodney Alcalla and a date with a private photo shoot!!! Haha...I kid. Door 3 is an empty parking lot and the choice of hell for all eternity...I mean hekk for all eternity. Guess which door I chose? Not many chose door 3 but I did so proudly....my point being exactly that, who will pray for Babylon? God can't know how many hairs are on your head and love you so much and then send a 15 year old kid to hell and if he can then he's not for me. I personally don't believe any human being.....Hitler, Dahmer, etc are deserving of eternal damnnation. Ever. Yet, I can't believe we're all just randomly here with no purpose other than to consume, consume, consume and I've heard it said that DNA is so mathematically precise that it's a mathematical impossibility that it's random or not designed so I do believe in intelligent design. But I would say that thought, "who will pray for Babylon?" Is what drove me from the church. I'm rambling but I wanted to say I appreciated your comment and how respectful it was when Christianity being the topic isn't always debated with the most respect.

I have to constantly tell people that Ghost is a mockery of a Catholic Mass. The members, especially Tobias, aren't satanic so much as atheist/agnostic and they simply have a disdain for organized religion. Once you realize that it's all schtick and gimmick, they become exponentially more enjoyable. I just saw them about a week ago and it was probably the best concert I've ever been to. And they're ability to cover a song but also make it their own is impressive. Just look at their cover of "Avalanche" off Prequelle deluxe.

The first time I heard this, while sitting in a plasma clinic donating plasma several years ago, it brought me to almost sobbing tears. I shortly thereafter shared it with a faithful Christian friend of mine. His only response I remember is something like "Well... it's obvious they have never read the bible. Everything is either out of order or completely mixed up." ....*Sigh* Edit: As an aside, while I no longer consider myself a LaVeyan Satanist (I'm just flat-out Atheist/Antitheist now) I was never disappointed back in the day when I'd share something like this, or discuss Satanic ethics and philosophy to someone claiming to be a Christian (including my parents and grandparents) without telling them it was specifically Satanically inspired. They all agreed with me 99% of the time. ... Until I showed them the source. Then they immediately rejected everything they'd admitted in honesty, simply because their spiritual Boogeyman was supposedly the origin of such thoughts. Edit 2, as I listen fully for the first time in around a year or two: If only those "Christians" who immediately denounce anything relatively scary to them as evil could hear this as I do. Not simply as music, but human passion. Who cares if the members of Ghost are really Satanists? Only fools care about the "implications" over the finished product. They produce quality human art, which is something, if their "God" really existed, would probably be immensely proud of. Human greatness is borne of mortal talent, dedication, and love for creation, not hatred, abortion clinic bombings, and judgement for decent folks who just don't buy the bullshit you're trying to infect everyone with!

From my (Christian) perspective: sure the song’s not biblically accurate, but I would be lying if I said that it didn’t TREMENDOUSLY resonate with me spiritually. Like, I actually felt my soul when I first heard this, and it IS a shame that people let the singers get in the way of the song. (The fact that Ghost of all bands sang this is actually hilariously ironic, if anything.) If they can’t look past that, they don’t deserve such a haunting/beautiful song. …Also, super relieved that I’m not the only one moved to the point of tears hearing this.

Not sue where to begin with some of these comments, but huge ups on the video Brian!! 1) Yes, this is a cover. The original by "Imperiet" was in Swedish, but "Imperiet" also recorded it in English 2) The previous Incarnations of "Ghost" were more new wave/alternative rock. I wouldnt say they "failed" as theyre quite good. They're musicians who are exploring different artistic genres while making music. Big credit to them for taking us on that sort of journey with them 3) They are not satanists. Its theatrics. 4) They are not "satanic" any more than the people who make horror films 5) The song details the creation and the end of the world stories that are are common to the abrahamic religions. If you think this is blasphemous, then "Revelations" would be blasphemous as well. Anyway... sorry if Ive repeated points that have already been made...
