Basimilus Iteritas Alter, Manis Iteritas and Ataraxic Iteritas - Eurorack Voice/Oscillator Review and Comparison
Basimilus Iteritas Alter is a universal digital drum synth. And I think it needs no introduction. It is an amazing voice not only for percussive sounds, but also for bass lines and leads too.
- Basimilus Iteritas Alter - [ALL bit.ly/3zbmeWH]
Manis Iteritas is an industrial synth. Actually it is based on the Basimilus, but with some more distortion and madness into it. And as BIA it is good for drums, bass lines, leads, drones or any other synth sounds.
- Manis Iteritas - [ALL bit.ly/3lO3FoG]
Ataraxic Iteritas is an aggressive digital oscillator. Spoiler alert: it’s my favourite voice ever. It might not be as great for drums or percussion as BIA or MI, but when it comes to tonal sounds… I think it stands out!
- Ataraxic Iteritas - [ALL bit.ly/3LWPiZB]
They are all based on the same hardware platform, hence no surprise that they look almost the same. In this video I cover some similarities they have and also how they differ. And I am trying to answer the question: Which one from these 3 is the best for a bass line?
In the first half of the video there is a review of these 3 modules. And in the second there is a little Modular Techno Jam! Enjoy!

🌍 Hello World! My name is Ihor.
This is my channel where I share my experiences, ideas, reviews and tutorials related to Electronic Music Production. I focused mostly on Techno and House music. In my Studio on my Music Production Desk you will find a variety of different gear like: digital and analog synth, eurorack modular, drum machine, sampler, effect, mixer, guitar pedal, MIDI controller. Also software: DAW, Ableton, VST, plugins.
I am myself an engineer and I am quite obsessed with the Music Technology and Sound Design. I like making music without a computer. I like playing Electronic Music Live with my Minimal Dawless Setup. I love Eurorack Modular Techno and always keen to talk about the modular workflow.
I strongly believe that nothing can be better than a good Dawless Techno Jam!
I watched all the Techno Tutorials on KZread! (I think)
📺 Thanks for watching! And have fun!
✌️ Peace.

Your videos are getting better and some really good advice for people here. These NE Oscillators can go batsh1t crazy so gentle attenuation is a must. Great descriptions of all the knobs too as they are quite difficult to describe. Keep up the good work and look forward to the next video. Better than my attempts although I’m thinking of doing some tutorials too.

Good stuff. I have all three as well and your thoughts are pretty close to mine. All have their place but I find myself using AI quite a bit these days. Also, as someone who got an Octatrack last week and still has no clue what I’m doing with it, I felt that part where you fought with it in my bones. Such a deep machine - you do great with it though!

All of them!
Thanks for the video, I've been waiting for it! For me Manis is the winner hands down, coz it's the most "analog sounding" out of all three. Ataraxic is a little to raspy and BIA is good, but not crazy enough. Manis in my opinion has a great balance of being crazy on demand but tamed and normal when you need it, keeping warmth and deepness of the sound. Cheers mate, keep it up, great format you got here for your videos
@IhorMedia

Thank you very much for the idea, mate! Agree with you on the Manis. I myself lean to MI after watching my video back. That bass sound I created at @22:20 going gently on the Bash thing. Oh man... I am going to sample it for sure and keep it as a Swiss Army knife. Glad you checked in, bro! I appreciate your feedback and kind words! ✌️

i will say if you run the bia through the rossum morpheus from experience can sound quite analog, generally the wavetable synthesis modules are relatively tame without oblitereatIng the origional character in some way... i have only three in my case my favorite is the synthesis technology version. the implemetstion on the shapeshifter uses them well. the swn i just create wave tables for it so it doesnt sound like some wanna be pad maker. love the video Ihor! well done brother.

Ihor, I love your videos and find myself coming back to them over and over again. Do you have any advice on using a Digitakt for percussion (I bought one because of you!) with modular? They work great together but i dont know how i would duck the bass on the modular against the kick from the Digitakt?? More videos please, you are the Techno king!
@IhorMedia
Жыл бұрын
I think you have to duck the bassline before it comes to the Digitakt, since it can't really duck it on its own.
I'm getting the Manis Synth Voice. I like one the best. I love the Punchy Bass Lines.

I’ve just got the bia...lined up for birthday in 10 days. First modules :D chose that though for future plans so that I could get a bass module and drop the bia to drum duties. Is it me, or does the manis sound wider and richer tones for bass than the other two?
@IhorMedia
3 жыл бұрын
I think Manis does sound reacher, actually. That bass line I created at @22:20 sounds crazy good. I'd sample it for future, but messed up the patch already 😁 However I think I just got that right spot on Manis. It's like a lucky consequence. I think on BIA you can also hit a nice spot easily. Thank you for checking in! ✌️
After watching your vids I finally got a bia. Wow! What a game changer. Nothing comes close for percussion, basslines imo.

I found Loquelic giving me insane bass. Also, all NE oscillators have insanely wide sonic palette with just one parameter changing, let alone all of them - say fold and morph at the same time - therefore you MUST use attenuators if you want to get proper modulation out of all this.

@@IhorMedia You know this well, move one pot while Basimilus is doing its thing and you'll get totally off. Sometimes its great, but to fully control it I use Quadritt or like you, Lapsus.
