The song "Yeh zindagi usi hai" is based on Raga Bhimpalasi/Kaafi and some parts in Raga Kirwani. And "Ae dil hai mushkil" has the chalan of Raga Kirwani.

Not really. Bhimpalas does not allow the flexibility of starting with Sa - Pa and definitely does not have Komal Dha. Bhairavi allows a lot more flexibility than the confines of Bhimpalas

My knowledge from childhood is that Yeh zindagi first half is Bhimplas and second part is Keervaani, choice of happy and sad ragas.

Yes, both the songs are not based on bhairavi. Yeh zindagi usiki hai switches between bhimpalasi and keervani and ae dil hai mushkil is completely in C harmonic minor scale which is keervaani.

Appreciate all the suggestions and comments and the offerings from SS! A request to SS will be if you can continue on each raga and highlight if possible Hindustani and Carnatic style for the less musically informed such as myself and the newer generation who may not know all the stalwarts of Indian music, no wmatter which region, dialect, style etc. It's a massive ask...but if offered it will be the best as we always get from the duo and the team. Music has no country, religion, boundaries!

Brilliant video!! Just one thing I felt personally, Tu Safar Mera By Pritam ji isn't Bhairavi, atleast that's what I feel with my limited knowledge, as there's no use of a komal Re in it, instead a Shuddha Re is used, and I feel it's more closer to Raag Adana/ Darbari Kanada! Also, it can also sometimes feel like Raga Keeravani, but again, a Shuddha ni isn't used in it's chalan, so I feel that it's Adana, I could be completely wrong but this is what I felt😊❤ Edit :- The Sindhi Bhairavi does consist a tinge or a tiny touch of shuddha re, but the komal re comes along with it, but in Tu safar mera, that isn't the case😊! So that's why I wrote this! I in no way intend to Disrespect or demean your brilliant content, but rather I thought of commenting what I felt!

Technically speaking the same notes are used in Raag Bhairavi and Darbari Kannada in different keys. So, if your root note is B and you’re going through the notes of Raag Bhairavi, those same notes would be in Darbari Kannada if we use E as the root note. Just the order of notes is different and what’s allowed is different Raag wise. Like in Darbari Kannada, you always do Ga Ma Re Sa, Ma Ga Re Sa is outside of the raag. As composers, they usually take the base of a raag and choose what notes they want to use sometimes even adding notes outside of the raag. So, the demonstration here isn’t incorrect. Loved this video ❤. Beautiful. I’d love to see a video on Raag Saarang, one of my favorite Raags.

@@murtazaakbarreborn what you're saying is true!! But see, each raag comes with a different Bhava!! So, what I'm saying is that, that song doesn't consist of the bhaav of Bhairavi😀! And also, it isn't just about notes here, it's the chalan!

Thank you for sharing this. A few observations. Yeh zindagi usiki hai is mostly based on Bhimpalas. Songs with a teevra re & teevra ni can be construed as the nites raag Kirwani... Like the song 'aye dil hai mushkil' Lastly, a Bhairavi medley without the mention of Shankar Jaikishan is somewhat like listing an all time Indian test cricket team without Sunil Gavaskar as the opening batsman. :)

Bhairavi, the queen of Raaga. One of my favorite song in this Raag is Diya Na Bujhe Ri Aaj Hamara by Lata Ji but Nawshad as composer was already taken by Tu Ganga ki mawjimé.

Excellent presentation. I felt 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' exactly doesn't sit with the raga. Am I right? Regardless, I love the series. My most fav is *Jaa re jaare udjaare panchhi" by the inimitable SalilDa. (Even I think that's not strict Bhairavii guess).

Could have included the famous song of Manna dey ji 'Banao batiyan hato kaaheko jhuti'.
