Bhagavad Gita made easy Part 2/3

So far Krishna has described the nature of the Self, Karma Yoga and the art of meditation. Arjuna however has been struggling to see how he can achieve these high states of realisation.
In response Krishna turns his attention away from the Atman, to Himself as the Supreme Lord. He describes at length how the whole universe is a part of Him, and depends entirely upon Him. He also outlines the way of devotion and grace. A surrendered devotee can be freed from this world by Krishna's mercy.
Overwhelmed by the glories of Krishna, Arjuna asks if he can see His true cosmic form. As a result he witnesses the shocking Truth that lies behind the person of Krishna. All the gods, all of creation and time is present within Him. Finally Arjuna learns in the 12th chapter why Bhakti (devotion) compared to Jnana (wisdom) can easily take one to the Supreme.

    I am totally feeling that same way, constantly finding these gems of wisdom that seem as though they resonate with an eternal truth that resides within my core. They are profoundly and irreplaceably vital to who we are as spiritual beings.... so much so, in fact, that when we come face to face with them not only can we not deny the truth therein, but we must identify and accept that it is a central part of us and our journey, or otherwise we risk losing touch with ourselves and our spiritual identity forever. It is that powerful a feeling for me, a sense of both supreme and utter inner bliss at finding this crucial piece of myself, and yet a foreboding sense of danger that to deny it and not absorb it into my thoughts and habits would be a foolish act of terrible magnitude, as if being faced with the offer of divinity and saying "no thank you"!

    By practice one can become egoless or have less oscillation of thoughts or not get caught in the opposites created by the society (eg profit/loss, love/hate, beauty/ugly, proud/shame etc) Different paths taught by divine avatar krishna teach us the same thing- To become 'egoless".

  • @swatisri2409

    HARI KRISHNA Absolutely agree - it needs regular practice and conscious effort at first to do nishkama karma. But about bhakti - I don’t think it is blind love, it’s a very conscious love towards Krishna, from what I have understood. It requires surrendering oneself completely to Krishna to get rid of maya (Bhagavadgeeta 7:14) However, if you do not have a surrendering nature - I don’t :) - it’s simply not possible to choose that path. I think it depends on one’s inherent nature as to which path we choose, but it’s comforting to know that the ultimate realization can be achieved through both paths.

    *always be in yog (union).* this is smthng i've experienced in my own life: when ur in yoga you dont sin, you're never OTT, you never have regrets. you're always appropriate and balanced. you're never too nice or too harsh. if a person is in yoga you dont need to tell that person: "thou shalt not kill" because a person in yoga is already connected to the source. if 'to kill' is the right thing to do in that moment he shall kill. if its wrong in that moment he shall not kill. eternal truth is always valid whereas temporary truth is not. so if you connect to the eternal truth you're always safe.

  • @indianmilitary

    @indianmilitary

    6 жыл бұрын

    "if 'to kill' is the right thing to do in that moment he shall kill" - This is a very loose interpretation (which could be misinterpreted) of what divine avatar Krishna says in Chapter 18 verse 17 "yasya nāhaṅkṛto bhāvo buddhir yasya na lipyate hatvā 'pi sa imāṁllokān na hanti na nibadhyate" Translation "One who is egoless, whose intelligence is not of attachment, though he may kill, is not the slayer and is never affected by karma" Point is if we kill to take "revenge" (which sounds like the right thing to do at that moment) we will still be affected by karma because we will have ego when we take revenge.

  • @rahulm2827

    @rahulm2827

    kashsoldier i agree with you bro. and i wasnt talking abt the act of 'killing' but of action itself (any kind of action). a human being can be in millions of different kinds of situations in his life and in every situation of your life you are acting (commiting karma). as such even when you're sleeping you are acting. (coz u cud chose to stay awake and do something important for example). the gita is a universal law which is always valid for all human beings (not just on the battlefield). and the message i was talking about is: be in yoga always which means union. all of the 7 billion people on earth right now and whatever situation they might be in. if they are in yoga they shall act according to the universal law and despite acting not earn the fruit of their action (be it good or bad). :)

Everything emanates from Me. The wise who perfectly know this engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts." - Bg 10.8 www.vedabase.com/en/bg/10/8 There are three aspects that need to be understood: Brahman, Paramātmā, and finally Bhagavān.

It all should help you to lead an egoless "dharmic" life which can lead to zero karma NOT good/bad karma. Zero karma = Moksha. If there is good or bad karma then you still have ego. Good karma also involves ego because it involves desire to do something good

    What he means is that one must perform their duty without expecting any physical or material results. So Arjuna must do his duty i.e fight in the war with a sense of detachment to the result to reach Krishna (God).

End life end.. everything is a form and play. We all came to taste world and we are all the same being within i.e the ultimate, no supreme no low just oneness... nothing wrong nothing right just play.. this is what krishna said he is not supreme because he is one of the supreme guru and he understand it.. he is not an egofull human to whom high low matter

    Depends how you interpret the Gita. If you are a Vaishnava you will see Krishna/Vishnu as the Supreme, and are unlikely to centre your worship on any other deity. Others however see Krishna as a metaphor for the Supreme in which case He can be seen as the impersonal reality or indeed any other deity which we hold to be the highest.

    PeanutButter Toast every person percieves the supreme reality according to his own understanding, supreme truth is boundless, we can't percieve it with our mind unless god gives us that understanding. Hinduism therefore gives one freedom to choose to worship god in whatever form and whatever way one likes.

    Mainly there are two types of groups in hinduism (people made them, you know duality of mind😉) Vaishnav - they consider lord krishna/vishnu/ram supreme. All are different incarnations of same god. Shaivite - they consider lord shiva supreme reality. The cause of all causes. He doesn't like to incarnate much. However there are many references where both shiva and vishnu/krishna states that they are not two but one the supreme parabrahman and whoever differentiates between the two forms won't get either of them and will go to hell. Shiva is formless worshipped in shivling, the form of shiva you see on kailash is shankar. You can see it this way the supreme reality when formless and even pervading is shiva and when it takes form is krishna. Just like steam is same as ice in the core but differs at the surface.

    Okay 2:25 really caught me off guard tho. I did an enormous amount. Of research on the topic of Krishna claiming other gods were less than or "demi gods" this is just simply false. Krishna did not say this and it is similar to how Christians try to put words on the mouth of Jesus by saying he said he is god. The overall agenda that Krishna is the Supreme being comes straight from ISKCON beliefs. And if you know enough about this group, you know to take what they say with a grain of salt. Krishna does not ever say "demi gods" nor does he say "lesser" gods. The true interpretation is "different" or "unusual" when referring to the path chosen to serve atman. Different as in, everyone can reach Krishna through other paths and through other gods. Any following that claims a god is saying they are the one and only way is using those words entirely in the wrong context. No god that is truly god would ever claim this. It is ungodly for one... and clearly we can reach god by many different paths.

    To leave the spiritual world which consist of eternity, bliss and knowledge one must have a desire to enjoy Krishnas property (meaning his energy) with out Krishna and separetly from Krishna. This envy of Krishnas position leads one to the material world or maha maya. In the spiritual world Krishna tries to do everything that we don't leave him to this pitiful place but we mandate it as it's the only way we can feel our selves to be like God him self. In this maha maya, which one meaning is energy, we continue to try enjoy and control the material nature by our own work. So it's not that we were on the bus stop and accidently picked the wrong bus number and came to the material world. We wanted it very strongly. Way to get out of here is to want as strongly to serve lovingly Krishna and hes devotees.

    By soul you mean Atman which is another word for undifferentiated consciousness, Krishna is universal consciousness which needs a face to be imagined by the mind. The goal appears to be to change persona consciousness to be undifferentiated consciousness. Bhakti could refer to any religious practice to take one from worldly points of reference. All religions have their stories and sign posts, it is however a mistake to identify oneself with any one religion, they are all merely philosophical paths leading to the same point. Worship is a foolish exercise though, conscious awareness couldn't care less for your religion or for your grovelling, you are unrealized consciousness, the alpha and omega, the unborn self which never dies.
