If you feel really confident about your religion, why not explore other faiths/religion with an open mind. I think @daydreamerindian is talking Sri M. Look for the google talk by Sri M in you tube. That will be a good start. One more hint, if you really read your own book end to end then I am sure you will automatically start looking for other religions.

Similarly I may leave idol worship but i can never leave Krishna. Krishna Jesus or Allaha are just synonyms of the same Sat Chit Ananda. Saikishore Gowrishankar - Sorry you feel that way...but not my intention..just telling a brother the truth cause I care, of course at the end of the day everyone has their own choice but, if for example I have the cure for cancer, would I not share it? Would I let people I care about just die without telling them? In the same way I am saying seek Christ, He Himself said (not me) that “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one shall come to the Father except through Me”; the Bible also says, “Gods people perish due to ignorance” just saying don’t be ignorant and look into everything before being quick to say Hinduism is the way..I know you were probably brought up into the religion, like I was, but there is more to it than that...and you will be blown away if you just open your heart and mind...I say this with love and peace 🙏🏼

Idols are essentially symbols. Alphabets are symbols too. Bending and facing a particular direction is also a crude form of symbolic worship. Fraud and shallow terms used for manipulating fools. Whether it's symbolic worship or non symbolic worship /meditation, hindus don't need lectures from Abrahamic /Islamic clowns. Idols (murti) are considered as symbolism for the absolute but not the absolute, or icons of spiritual ideas, or the embodiment of the divine. They are a means to focus one's religious pursuits and worship (bhakti).

I'm a Hindu but I never knew all these in this much detail. Thank you alot.

Very well said! I used to use the example of the wedding ring and spouse pics in our purses to explain the logic behind idol worship. I have also been told by pujaris that its the presence of that god in and around that idol that makes the difference. Well, Christians and Jews do not have to go too far to understand that logic, because that is what they teach about the Ark of Covenant. The presence of the Omnipresent Yahweh dwelt in it, they say. Muslims also go to Mecca and conduct rituals. Even religious saints like Buddha or Guru Nanak who tried their best to turn people away from the worship of idols, now have sacred places in their names in places like Amritsar and Nepal, that are considered to emanate their energy. The concept of the energy of an Omnipresent God being present in various idols or places can be explained by the electric work inside a house. There is an X amount of electric energy that enters the house, and its power is experienced when we plug in to any of the outlets provided for it. This does not diminish the supply coming in! @dream31 Personaly what I beleive is why the idol worship is not appreciated in muslim and sikhism is that it wants to make sure that people should not just cling to the physical form but understand that ultimately we have to go beyond physical form. I go to temples as well and bow down to physical form with the understanding that god is all pervading.

My Muslim flat mate in London came from Iraq as an asylum seeker and don't know where his parents are all he has is his parents one picture. He everyday kiss that picture and sometimes cry. I am not very religious and hardly pray but, I love Hinduism. One day I was praying and kissed a picture of Krishna and he was like that picture isn't your God. I replied true it's just a physical representation of my Lord which reminds me of my duties and makes me feel better safe and connected with him. This is just a lifeless paper and I love Krishna NOT this piece of paper. The same way the picture of your parents aren't them but, through the picture you love them isn't it ? He went into deep thought and although as a Muslim he didn't agree with Idol worshiping but, he was an open minded person so he understood that it's not what I worship that matters it's who I worship that matters. Every time muslim bow down to a black stone in Kaaba and they say we don't worship stone. One time I bow down to a statue made of stone and I am an idol worshiper ? In Hinduism I can close my eyes meditate and take the name of God without relying on objects while in Islam you *MUST* worship towards Kaaba's black stone so who's more idolater them or us ?

Islam is a disease. Even if someone is worshipping idols what is the problem? At least they are not blowing people up in the name of Allah. When anyone worships images, it is the God that is being worshipped, and not the image itself. Hindus worship animals and trees as well. This is because they honour life, and believe in the true omnipresence of the God, and that God is definitely not the false Allah. If the God is omnipresent, he is present in everything, and thus, anything can be worshipped because everything is the abode of God. Krishna said in Geeta no matter what you worship, how you worship, your prayer would reach me. This is the nature of a true omnipresent God. He knows as he is the only God, and present everywhere, it is practically impossible to pray anybody else, not like imaginary sick Allah, who is always jealous of others. I just hate Islam.

Abhishek Tiwari, You realise don't you that Allawh is not just a muslim word it is a semitic word in general it comes from a Hebrew/Canaanite word EL which mean's oneness, or mighty one and even that word comes from an even older bible called the Sumarian text's the Sumarian text's had similarity's to the eygptian religion witch ultimately came from the same root's as other eastern religions like Hinduism. Seema Talreja each of us have their own work to do and lifestyle to do.hinduism was present even before 4000bc.so at those days people were segregated according to their jobs.not everyone could do the same thing right.so according to their needs ,"a way of worshipping is made by the way of Dharma".And everything they did had a reason and there was no place for confusion as the ways were already described in their vedas and upanishads.What do u mean by confusion here? Why only Kaaba, is this not an idol worshiping? Idol means something is in some form, so the Kaaba is also an idol. Why only face to Kaaba, perhaps your, yes only yours Allah is only resides at Kaaba( only territory). Even muslims Face Kaaba at Namaj but chants Allah without such rule. My god or Bhagwaan or Allah or any other form of my god is everywhere (Micro to Macro).

I think it's interesting how in a way the murti consecration ritual and the Idea of essential nature are similar to the Christian belief in the transubstantiation of the bread and wine of communion into the body and blood of Jesus. Yes it is the same Muti Puja Religion. The Christians just dont like to admit it. The Consecrated Host is very powerful, i have experienced thus many times. It takes you instantly into a deep Trance when you concentrate on it. I sit before it in the church and close my eyes and concentrate my mind on it and it immideately has an effect on me. My body seems to vibrate and to become smaller and bigger at the same time. Have you experienced smth like this before? With a murti?

God is an English word with biblical connotations. The word Brahma used by Hindus and even Buddhists for that matter is not the same as God. Let's not forget "Aham Brahma Asmi" which means I am Brahma. Brahma is an all expansive ultimate reality that creates all, lives in all, and transcends all. God, on the other hand, is an authoritarian figure who will punish you if you transgress the rules.

I am not Hindu because I was born Hindu. I am Hindu because I wanted to be honest and scientific. Could not find anything even close to Vedas. Gita teaches right action is doing the best possible at any given moment in a world where ideal options seldom exist and not acting will only make the situation worse. ******************************************************************************************** DHARMA: Don't just believe only because others believe or say so....be a seeker! Reach the conclusion on your own. Find the answers yourself. That's what I love the most about Hinduism. "Philosophy decides goal of life Goal of life decides ur lifestyle Lifestyle decides ur habits Habits decide ur wants and needs If your philosophy is disturbed, everything gets disturbed!" Although it's not so easy to explain Dharma, but let me try in capacity of my understanding: Dharma is based on Righteousness which in the core is based on the principle of "Minimization of Harm". Harm of what? Harm of 'Prakriti' which is neither 'aatman' nor 'brahman' bcoz aatman and brahman can't be harmed or unharmed. Prakriti includes everything in our behavioural life that we have to deal with, both living & non-living. So it includes Human society and it's Dynamic Value System, Animal Kingdom, Plants, Water, Soil, Sunlight, different Celestial bodies and everything remaining in this physical world which I might be missing here. Making it more simpler, I would like to explain it one line or two: First analyzing one's strengths and weaknesses according to a given dilemma situation of either conflicting responsibilities or non-conflicting responsibilities (that need to be prioritized), one should take that decision (or even at least think of it because one's intention also comes in his/her Karmic fold) at that moment in the capacity of one's intellect, experience and understanding; which would bring the maximum 'benefit' to the 'Prakriti' in whole for the larger amount of time possible. Now this 'harm' and 'benefit' requires a very detailed subjective analysis that changes from one situation to another. Dharma evolves with time on the principle of 'least harm' and harm from challenges that also keep changing with time. For an example, let us take about 'peace'. Today to maintain peace in this age of war of faiths and civilizations, Dharma too has evolved by eliminating the principle of "One way Tolerance irrespective of what comes in return" and adding the concept of Poison Pills like Mutual-Respect and even Scriptural changes based on some minimum qualifier i.e., Mutual-Respect. Take any other real life examples like Vegetarianism, Best World Order, Democracy, Economy, Corporate Dharma, Feminism, Freedom of Expression, Diversity in Unity vs Unity in Diversity, etc and try to critically analyze it, and you would understand what Dharma is indeed. ******************************************** I see some Christians are not able to digest the win win concept of Mutual-Respect and cursing Hinduism of worshiping demons as imaginary Gods, let me also reply them in the language they understand: How to Destroy Christianity : Argument 1: “No Romans, No Salvation”: They say “Jesus died to save you from sins” but Jesus wouldn’t have died if the Romans hadn’t killed him. Therefore you should thank/worship the Romans for salvation before you thank Jesus cos after all, Christianity is all about paying gratitude, right ? Argument 2: If you don't give credit for Salvation to the Romans, then it would mean that Jesus died on his own without anyone's help/interference, which means “he killed himself” - and killing yourself is called "suicide". Then you rather change your slogan to "Jesus committed suicide for you" - but wait, isn't suicide a sin in Christianity ? Jesus Christ!! Jesus was a sinner! I have a great respect for Jesus Christ as a human, but since I have seen so many Christians in my day to day life and here in this comment section too not wanting to accept the win-win concept of Mutual-Respect and keep on saying Hindus worship demons and 'satan', let me respond to them in reciprocation since I don't believe in one way tolerance at the cost of no matter what comes in return that You, ur God, ur religion & ur people became my enemies the day they declared me, my God, faith & people enemy. Call it hate. I am obliged to hate the hate. I am here to live. Not to see my people or faith die. This is clarity every Hindu must have. And preparations..Both intellectually and physically. We were never peace lovers, we were+are+will be Truth seekers. Period ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////BTW, we even worship stones, rivers, cows, monkeys, snakes, birds, insects, mountains, etc bcoz we believe that creator is not separate in manifestations from creations. We believe God is one, but we don't believe he is in the sky hanging there and watching all from above. haha..Btw why one GOD, we believe in half God, 1/10 God, or even minus infinity God, what's your problem? We don't believe in discreet God, rather we have faith in continuous God that can't be explained in numbers. So better shut up and remain happy with your God without intruding into our affairs. Otherwise you know we will not be tolerant to the intolerant ideologies on the Dharmic principle of Mutual-Respect...Hahaha This is not idolatry. Because idolatry means you are going after fame or money or sex or something very pleasure and more important than God to you. But if you people call ideology as idolatry too, then we Hindus can't help you because Abrahamic faiths are also about ideologies in one way or the other. But when you repeatedly say that you're going to heaven, I certainly feel pity for your EGO. What they say idols is actually symbolism which is present in Christianity and Islam too. The only thing is that you keep it unknowingly whereas we keep it knowingly. Now let me tell them why symbolism is important. Notice that I say 'symbolism' important and that too in the initial phase of consciousness, but not mandatory. We believe in evolution, be it scientifically or spiritually, and therefore what we mean by 'Dharma' is not 'Religion' by the Western understanding. But that's another topic. So my point is that if the Abrahamic cults still want to say symbolism as idolatry, then please let them keep on because we are mature enough to handle disagreements decently because we believe in open architecture. But since we don't believe in bloody Tolerance(which seems very insulting to me), therefore we have our own principle of Minimization of Harm & Mutual-Respect which says that we will keep on respecting them genuinely regardless of their belief-system or faith only if they reciprocate the same for us. Symbolism (idolatry) is important for a beginner to concentrate. It's like you need to understand all the fundamental concepts of finite numbers (& discreet) before you try to understand the universal behavior of Infinity (& continuous). Don't you try to master in Arithmetic first before you jump to Algebra? Now this infinity may be analysed in both infinitely bigger or infinitely smaller aspects of cosmos. Therefore we have both outward (Science) and inward (Spirituality) looking approach in Hinduism unlike exclusive Abrahamic faiths which believe only in scriptures and neither in outward seeking nor in inward seeking. The only difference is that we believe in evolution and hence updates and reinterpretation of our scriptures is natural because there's no EGO in our Sanatana Tradition, whereas they think their scriptures as perfect...hahaha

Hindus see Image as God not God as image, a vast difference. An image is just a reminder of a deity just as a picture of a beloved you look at with love. What you realy love is the beloved and not just the picture. Again the idol is a temparary value as in Algebra you presume a letter to find its value. Once the value is found you no longer need the X. There are other explanations also but need way more time and room.

Hindus are people who live in the land mass between the Mighty Himalayas and The Indian Ocean(Sindu Maha Sagara).The looters called as Hindus as we reside in the bank of River Sindhu who follow Sanadhana Dharma and pray for the good of whole world. Unlike other religions we have hundreds of thousand of scholers who have right to express there own views and ideas guided us. Athul Rai I see and don't worry I don't defend Hinduism lol I just try correct things if ppl get the facts wrong. We breed chicken so that we can eat them and I guss people there do that to snakes cause they believe it will give them good luck. So I'm not gona say u guys r imoral for doing that to snakes cause morality is a human made concept. I just say that well these guys that breed chicken to eat them get something in return like protein energy and pleasure (taste). This can help society grow for ex more jobs, more energy to perform tasks, more fitness and atheletesism (if exercise included), etc. Where as the snake thing doesn't give anything apart from false sense of accomplishment which give u pleasure but it's false and may keep the society pleasent for a while but it doesn't give any sort of progress.

FunMan Shuvo Idols are essentially symbols. Alphabets are symbols too. Bending your ass and facing a particular direction is also a crude form of symbolic ritual worship. Fraud and shallow terms used for manipulating fools. Whether it's symbolic worship or non symbolic worship /meditation, hindus don't need lectures from Abrahamic /Islamic clowns. Idols (murti) are considered as symbolism for the absolute but not the absolute, or icons of spiritual ideas, or the embodiment of the divine. They are a means to focus one's religious pursuits and worship (bhakti).

I hope our muslim brothers and sisters have got their answers..i have been tired of explaining it..i don't understand why only Muslims have problems with our way of worshipping gods cz i have only came across Muslims who challenges it i have been around various religion everyone seemed to be cool about our way of worshipping except for muslims i don't understand why they become so aggressive about it..??and i used to almost write a thesis to make them understand now i can share this video..

Their goals are different - these are Master/Slave religions - remember a slave may serve only one Master - hence their one God. Down on their knees they grovel to the master who they hope will be pleased and reward them with the easy life in heaven. That is what they are after - the easy living that is promises - God to them is their ticket to the good life - pleasures of the flesh - lots of sex, good food and easy living So, religion says master will do all this for you, don't pray to any other masters or listen to what they say, they are all evil, go hate them and these brainwashed people come here and abuse us To them how to pray, whom to pray are all important - you understand that for a master loyalty of his servants is important - whether the servant was a good or a bad person, did good things don't matter That is why they talk about praying to the "right" God, they kill each other because someone didn't pray the right way, murder those who might offend the master Hinduism is a Parent/Teacher faith - God is our parent, our Teacher. Our goal is Moksha - pleasures of the heart, mind and soul. We are not after cheap pleasures of the flesh - but Moksha has to be Earned, it cannot be given. It is Earned by good works, good thoughts, good deeds - you see the Buddha's views here Anyone can earn Moksha - it is like getting a job in the modern day - if you have the necessary qualifications you will get the job or the promotion But it is not like that in a corrupt or communist country - there the right contacts matter - that is what will get you the jor or promotion. You see Christianity and Islam preach such things - your qualifications don't matter, your good works don't matter - all that matters is whether you prayed to the "right" God We must understand these differences - understand that not all religions are the same

+Atul Raj.....Mohammedans have problems with all other religions. In fact they even have problems with other Mohammedans who have slightly different beliefs or belong to a different sect or group. The Wahhabi Sunni Mohammedans are the worst. They hate the Shias, the Ahmediyas, the Sufis and other sects of Mohammedans too. It is the aim of the Mohammedans to kill or subjugate all adherents of the other religions and then to KILL all other Mohammedans.

@@spewitout4678 The incidents come from not the fundamentals of Dharma but from the human nature of being defensive and getting sick of hypocrisy and sinister ploys being played to destroy your culture. Even Buddhists became violent but are the motivations religious? No, but rejection of ideologies that caught to destroy others and are an anti-thesis to the philosophies originated from India and subsequently from the east. How do you combat an aggressor without being aggressive? This has gone on too long and we have lost two parts of the country. I condemn unnecessary violence - some were revenge-driven, bigotry drove and others were law and order issues that are being given a communal angle in media. It's all complex but while most of us condemn and resist turning violent we find a need to be aggressive and intolerant in face of intolerance. I hope you understand the position. When you find news reports colouring Hindu genocide - literally happening since centuries, recently 10,000 forceful conversions/sexual abuse etc - in various parts of the country and whitewash it as "rebellion"/'Freedom fight" and when some people lit fire to train full of Hindu devotees women/children and don't find any justice what do you think their families would do? If truth is hidden, justice does not prevail and the victim is demonized then you'll see the rise of a counter-culture that would produce elements to fight the extremes of the other side. The world always finds a balance one way or the other. Those belonging to certain communities need to introspect and bring reforms and the country's identity as a civilization needs to be taught and re-establish. People can have personal faith but the concept/ideology of religion is foreign along with the disgusting concept of conversion- that is just cultural genocide by replacing your cultural identity with a "religious identity" and since Hindu/Indian civilization is the oldest by alienates you from your roots. You can be an Indian and follow Jesus or none or both Jesus and shiva without being a Christian. Religion has no place in a pluralistic accepting spiritual society.

Screw Driver They are not Christians per say you see it is said those who go against the commandments, idolatry one of them are not biblical Christian, worship in idols means putting your faith in them not just having having them to remind you of God, a lot of people do not know Christian theology yet they jump th conclusion like it says clearly in the Bible you can see the mighty hand of God in everything for he created it, so you do not need idols even yourself you are made at the image of God according to scriptures its where your value comes from yet this KZread clearly has it for Christian theology he pacts every denomination together like he would with Hindu and that is in itself disrespectful and untruthful why not use the Bible like he uses the Holy Scriptures of Hindu instead of using denomination as an example ?

Christians don't believe those statues and pictures are actually God, though. In the video, the narrator explains that Hindus believe that the statues become actually God. That's why Hinduism is idol worship. Christians use statues as a representation but never believe the statue is actually God. Hindus believe the statue is actually God. Do you understand? It just says , all worships done with devotion ( shraddha) , will be accepted by Bhagaban Krishna , even if they are not done as per the regulations of the usual and accepted religion ( in this case Hindu religion ) . This puts the devotion of a person as the most important object , more over the creed and the rituals . Here we find a very confident God , who is not afraid of people worshipping “ Other Gods “ . He doesnt say that he will deliver only them , who worship Him , rather he says he will deliver the worshipper of any god , provided the worshipper is devoted . Hope its clear now. It is because Krishna has delivered his lecture to Arjuna in Gita as “I”. People misunderstand that it’s some person Krishna when Krishna himself says I am in everyone and everywhere.

Dear listen properly this video you will come to know... why Morti pooja... don't worship creation worship only one creator. Ram worshiped Ishwar.. we are not able to create image or idol of our creator. In every religion Moti Pooja and Idol pooja is strictly prohibited. Just worship only one Ishwar who has no shape or image. even i must say we don't have that brain to create Ishwar. May God give us true path....

Shree Ram was our ancestor whether you consider him God or Not for us he was a divine soul and we will continue to remember him be it thought murti. through photos or songs. Get over it, stop having such a narrow worldview and live and let live if it's not harming you. If I want to worship Bharat Mata - mother of India - statue I WILL do it to establish my connection to this great civilization. If I want to worship water for giving me life I WILL do it and if you believe the divine is omnipotent and creator/creation is not separate - which is our worldview then you shouldn't have a problem with it. And if you have a problem reflect on what grounds you have such an issue on such a harmless cultural practice. Stop being intolerant.

Great explaination! I've learned something new about Hinduism and how all religions have their own symbolism and rituals.

shiva is never worshiped in an idol. shiva is worshiped in shivalinga shivalinga is a Sanskrit word. linga in sanskrit means symbol or shape or sign. many people misunderstand linga as a biological organ, meanwhile its sanskrit meaning is symbol. so shivalinga means symbol of shiva of sign of shiva. in rigveda its written that god is shapeless boundless and of no form, as islam or Christianity also claims. we hindus practice it too. allah or father of jesus is no one else than shiva himself. because he is the eternal god, having cloned himself as vishnu, brahma and created other deities and demi gods for the well functioning o the universe. original shape of shivaling is ovular just like the flame of a candle and not cylindrical as many modern day shivalingas look. it because shiva is shapeless and exists as energy of universe. abrahmic religions arent ready to accept anything else that is written in their few hundred pages books. meanwhile shiva is the only one they worship, but are ignorant of it.

@@SujitKuRaita A devotee with pure heart and performs good deeds and follows his/her dharma would able to cleanse his/her sins and past karmic actions, not only through bathing holy rivers. Hinduism is not only about Ganga and bathing holy rivers. @@TharsyanJaderubyI know brother,couse I have in this country , but important is only jesus can washing our sins because He died not doing Any single sin ,but He died for washing our sin From our Blood and , couse God Says " For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." Couse If we died Without Washing our All sin every day,then we will be Hell After death.
