Beyond IQ and EQ | Ankur Warikoo | TEDxNMIMSBangalore

We have been all told how critical IQ and Emotional Quotient are. And for several years, these two measurements have done a fairly good job of predicting success. Not anymore. In this talk, Ankur Warikoo argues that a new quotient, something he calls Focus Quotient, is going to determine how effectively will individuals be able to navigate the rapidly changing world.
Ankur Warikoo is an Internet entrepreneur and an Angel Investor based in India. He is the Co-founder and the CEO of Nearbuy. Ankur Warikoo is Cofounder & CEO of nearbuy.com - India’s No.1 Discovery and Transaction Platform for Stepping Out.
Prior to nearbuy.com, Warikoo was Head of Groupon’s India, Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines business. In 2008 he cofounded Accentium Web along with 2 other batch-mates from ISB that ran websites such as Gaadi.com, Secondshaadi.com, Taaza.com amongst others. Thereafter, Ankur launched Rocket Internet’s India business and helped setup the footprint for Jabong and Groupon.
Ankur holds a management degree from the Indian School of Business (Class of 2006) where he was awarded the Young Leader Award. He also holds a Master’s degree in Physics from Michigan State University and holds a bachelor’s degree from Hindu College, Delhi University.
Ankur was part of Fortune Magazine’s 40 under 40 List for India, has been named as India’s Top Executives under 40 by Business Today and has been awarded the Social Media Entrepreneur of the Year by Silicon Review. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I love being completely immersed in an idea. If it is a problem (like a maths problem) this is what happens before the nerd rush. Or at least I did. I almost never get a nerd rush anymore and I'm not saying that my parents did a bad job but I know exactly what kind of parenting he's talking about.

Talking about focus, I remember thr best focus I used to generate was in my childhood and early years of puberty those were the years when I used to play cricket everyday consistently. It was so intense that anything happening outside the Boundary line didn't matter at all. Even if my crush would cross over I'll see it n don't give a damn. I really miss that level of concentration and "zoned in" Moments now.

Prayer is better than meditation. Everyone can do some meditation, but few can focus on prayers without being distracted or talking to oneself instead of God. Meditation can be very damaging but God will always help and save us.

Wonderful talk man! I can groke and relate with it completely. Even I've realized long ago, attention span, ability to focus and concentrate is the key to learn something, to do something in the best possible by being in 'Zone' or 'Flow' state. in terms of Astang yog by Patanjali Rishi, it's Dharana, Dhyan and Samadhi explaining how one pointed focus when sustained, leads to Oneness!
