Beyond IQ and EQ | Ankur Warikoo | TEDxNMIMSBangalore
We have been all told how critical IQ and Emotional Quotient are. And for several years, these two measurements have done a fairly good job of predicting success. Not anymore. Ankur Warikoo is an Internet entrepreneur and an Angel Investor based in India. He is the Co-founder and the CEO of Nearbuy. Ankur Warikoo is Cofounder & CEO of nearbuy.com - India’s No.1 Discovery and Transaction Platform for Stepping Out.
Prior to nearbuy.com, Warikoo was Head of Groupon’s India, Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines business. In 2008 he cofounded Accentium Web along with 2 other batch-mates from ISB that ran websites such as Gaadi.com, Secondshaadi.com, Taaza.com amongst others. Thereafter, Ankur launched Rocket Internet’s India business and helped setup the footprint for Jabong and Groupon.
Ankur holds a management degree from the Indian School of Business (Class of 2006) where he was awarded the Young Leader Award. He also holds a Master’s degree in Physics from Michigan State University and holds a bachelor’s degree from Hindu College, Delhi University.

Knocked it out of the park Ankur. Your best speeches so far.
I love being completely immersed in an idea. If it is a problem (like a maths problem) this is what happens before the nerd rush. Or at least I did. I almost never get a nerd rush anymore and I'm not saying that my parents did a bad job but I know exactly what kind of parenting he's talking about.

I absolutely love and resonate with this Ted talk. Thank You!!!
Outstanding orator! And you are correct. I am one of those who is easily distracted and I constantly work on focus. At least I am willing to admit it.
Simple and smart speech 🔥
Beautiful message.
Talking about focus, I remember thr best focus I used to generate was in my childhood and early years of puberty those were the years when I used to play cricket everyday consistently. It was so intense that anything happening outside the Boundary line didn't matter at all. Even if my crush would cross over I'll see it n don't give a damn. I really miss that level of concentration and "zoned in" Moments now.
Just wanna say thank you. TedX and Mr Ankur Warikoo

Prayer is better than meditation. Everyone can do some meditation, but few can focus on prayers without being distracted or talking to oneself instead of God. Meditation can be very damaging but God will always help and save us.
Wonderful new insight.
I Completely agree, with what he says I have tried this and it works
focus n awareness r the need of the hour...rightly said..
Very rightly said. A respite from the usual stuff of "Follow your heart"

Yes, Very best
Wonderful talk man! I can groke and relate with it completely. Even I've realized long ago, attention span, ability to focus and concentrate is the key to learn something, to do something in the best possible by being in 'Zone' or 'Flow' state. in terms of Astang yog by Patanjali Rishi, it's Dharana, Dhyan and Samadhi explaining how one pointed focus when sustained, leads to Oneness!
amazing .thought provoking
It is certainly on par with what one actually needs and have to invest in if they are genuine about what they really want. Focus on!
Very good! FOCUS is the key. --- Muito bom! FOCO é a chave.
Brilliant video. Mesmerized by him and the way he talks.
Completely agreed!!!!

🙋♀️ Good 👍 Mentoring. These are my very own thoughts too. One of the best of ted talks. Good Training might be the keyword here. And love 😍 for the environment ♻️ too. Because if we have good values and luck, we can achieve whatever we want to even without challenging the status quo. Thanks and all.
Brilliant
Nice
I’d like to share my story. I’m practicing and having FQ. Not to be successful, I accidentally have to survive depression. It’s so important.
It makes sense
Real HAPPINESE Lies in GRATITUDE
Great
Thank you for this understanding and information. :) You got me thinking.
So true.
Superb
There is a bestselling book about it "Outliers" . No need to use your time figuring it out. All is described in that study/book how success is appear.
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
This is so true! Thank you for sharing about Focus Quotient. I just realized ive been nagging my son to "stay focused"! Focusing on the right thing, focusing on the most important thing at the moment
Really love this idea
I want to know how does it feal to wear a seizure?
I was going to heavily rebuke this because I have ADHD then I remembered it comes with the ability to hyperfocus.
Finally! I've been waiting for someone to talk about this!
♡
yes
It is a beautiful fantasy.
Amazing speech. Also very beautifully delivered. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you for this IQ and EQ new introduction. Keep it up to share with us a lot and youtube visitor are waiting for your delivery. Be happy sir.
So FQ is putting the onus of engagement onto the employee? What a nice shortcut.
IQ isn’t necessarily determined on genetics, studies have shown that during adolescents your IQ can change. (Although, when you reach adulthood it can’t change)

But millions already installed Steam app. And hundreds millions are playing "Clash Royale" . But he is right, maybe, though any student in top university has these skills otherwise you don't survive there..
This theory is not totaly unlikely considering the many studies out there affirming a rapid increase in both ADD and ADHD.
Nice speech.. thank u for sharing ur thoughts 😊
How do you measure FQ?

Thats an interesting perspective Asad. Thanks for raising it. Will have to think about it :)
I was expecting more than a theory put on stage. Everyone have theories in life. What makes this one so special to be on a Ted talk. His talk lacks scientific backend, experiments, paper references. He doesn't expand on the idea and explain how it would work for a workspace, etc.

I wonder what the FQ of people with ADHD is?
Start adding different thumbails already TED that's why you are getting fewer viewers...

Your presentation was great but none of the ideas you spoke of are original and you didn't acknowledge that! To add to the list of buzz words, another important thing to consider is intellectual honesty. Didn't they teach you that in the US?
Unfortunately, the youtube society has had a major decline in watching these videos as of today.

EQ is not a real metric with any predictive validity, while IQ is the metric with by far the highest predictive validity. This guy isn't speaking from a scientifically literate perspective.
