She was barely 9yrs.old when she sang this. Two more songs that will give you a good idea of what is to come, on Norway's Got Talent she sang, 'Gloomy Sunday' and 'I'm A Fool To Want You'. Angelina was 7yrs.old when she sang these two songs. The first, 'Gloomy Sunday' was her audition. She passed with flying colors. The second was, 'I'm A Fool To Want You', which she did A Capella is, in my mind, a feat of uncommon gifts and love of music. Angelina is a special young lady. She has now written 5-6 songs. The latest a heart-felt rememberence of her recently passed Grandfather. But she said in an interview that this was for anyone who has suffered a loss. She not only wrote the song, she and her maternal grandmother Mery Zamani who is an artist/poet in Norway and around the world, also did the illustrations for the video. Mery is also Angelina's partner in crime. Just about anywhere and everywhere Angelina went Mery was there recording the scene for what will possibly be the first womb to tomb video log of a singular person. Their relationship is more fun than anything else. Anytime you see Angelina Looking directly at someone, whether in the studio or rehearsal or just out and about that's Mery. All the hand gestures Angelina makes to some unseen director is Mery. If you watch Angelina's perform her self-arrangement of 'Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody', the camera will pan on four people in the audience. From right to left is, Mery herself, Juliette, Angelina's little sister, who Angelina calls, 'The Love Of Her Life. The beautiful blonde lady is Angelina's mom Sara Astar. Finally, is cousin Michael who has been her manager. He quit a full-time career to take this role on. He knew nothing about it, but as with the rest of the family, very smart. Angelina has had many suitors to be her label, she finally got an offer from the one company she wanted to be associated with, Republic Records. Her new single, 'Million Miles' was her first song released by Republic. Story is that her team came in and were negotiating and things weren't going particularly well, when they played the studio version of Million Miles, upon hearing that song the label exec's totally reversed and offered Angelina a contract they all seemed to be happy about. Some or all the specifics maybe wrong because there were several different stories I just distilled it the best I could. Well I'm going to quit now. Thanks for your reaction. Oh, there is another young singer who is six months younger than Angelina that you should be aware of. Her name is Daneliya Tuleshova a 14 year old singer out of Kazakhstan. She just appeared on AGT 2020 and made it to the finals where she was robbed by nebulous voting procedures and social issues pressuring certain results (my opinion) that as soon as she made the top ten was given the Bum's Rush to elimination. There are a lot of us that have taken issue with those results and are done with the show. Angelina got the same treatment. So treating my two favorite singer like they were pieces of meat. Did not endear the show and it's management team to us regular people. Daneliya is another singer with a larger than life voice and the ability to engage the listener with her voice. She is able to convey all the emotional impact of a song straight to the hearts of those that are fortunate to hear her. Daneliya also has a bunch of covers that she has put up. Pick anything you won't be disappointed. If I were to recommend one it would be the song that started Daneliya's rise to where she wants to go. Daneliya entered and won The Voice Kids Ukraine. She sang, Stone Cold' and put all of her 4'6" 65lbs. body into her vocal. This video went viral and to date has almost 70 million views. Her skills and her technique has given her a vocal style that is warm and sensual in a good way. So that would be a good place to start. Thanks for your reaction again.

Yeah, one would think she can't possibly understand what she's singing about, yet it seems that she does, somehow. Many people think she is an old soul, and she sometimes says things that would support that view. I also see her as an empath with uncanny understanding.

At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina befriended this girl who was wearing soiled clothing and no shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina so moved by the poor girl, took off her favorite sea green ankle boots and gave them to the poor shoeless girl. Angelina promised the girl she would perform barefoot until every child on Earth has shoes. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina asked her mother to enter her in Norway’s Got Talent (NGT) at age 5 but that talent show had a minimum age requirement of 7. Angelina at age 6 did record a few songs in a recording studio, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 6 year old.

Love that WOW moment people have when sings.

You've done it now. You have fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (120+ covers and original songs) and you will see! It is the rare singer that can, as Angelina has done, go from "Screamin" Jay Hawkins to Queen to Adele to Elvis to Whitney Houston to Etta James to Miley Cyrus (and many others in between) and do them all justice! If you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music , listen to Angelina. She will stagger you with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You felt a little of that in this performance. You have far to go with Angelina. She is equally comfortable and equally able to impact us whether singing a cappella, accompanied only by herself on piano, in front of studio professional musicians or a 100 piece military band. Buckle up if you are going to take this ride down the rabbit hole of over 120 covers and other videos that she has recorded between the ages of 6 and 14 which is her current age. I've been working on cataloging her videos. So far I have 132 songs, covering 84 different artists. Some of those songs have multiple performances at different ages and/or venues, resulting in more than 200 performances. Angelina loves jazz and Billie Holiday is her favorite singer. She is often compared to Amy Winehouse, but I really don't see that. She is very much her own singer and has her own approach to songs. There are several approaches to getting into AJ. She has a large catalog of covers on her channel, as well as several original songs. She started her career on Norway Got Talent at 7 years old, so many folks like to go back and check out her songs from that show (Gloomy Sunday, Summertime, Bang Bang) to get a feel of the 'young' Angelina. Her popularity really expanded when she appeared on AGT The Champions, so some folks like to check out her songs from that show first (Bohemian Rhapsody, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Someone You Loved). She has a jazz album called 'It's Magic' recorded with the top military band in Norway that is quite good. She has many great live performance vids along the way as well ( It's a Man's World, What a Difference a Day Makes, A Million Years Ago). She has very recently signed to a label and released a single that she wrote the lyrics for, and it's amazing. This performance, as amazing as it is, really only hints at what she can do. This is Angelina in Beast Mode. Great fun, to be sure, and definitely one for the time capsule… but it's not at all typical of what she does (apart from its jazzy feel, and the confidence with which she tackles the song). First off, she never went so hard on a vocal ever again (even when singing this same song live, later on), and she rarely ventured anywhere near this vocal style in her other covers (the few times she did will definitely be among the recommendations you will be getting, so there's no need for me to list them here). What _is_ more-or-less typical about this is that she took a song very few children of her age would even know about, much less want to sing, and made arguably the definitive cover of it. She tends to do that a lot. [grin] One of the most amazing things about her is how consistently excellent she has been since her public debut on _Norway's Got Talent_ [Norske Talenter] when she was 7. Since then, she has delivered one outstanding performance after another. And the higher the stakes, the more she seems to rise to the occasion. She has never seemed "in over her head" or even particularly stressed, regardless of her age or the circumstances. Live TV at 8? No problem. Before a crowd of 40,000 South Koreans at 10? Yes, please. Singing for Quincy Jones at his 85th birthday celebration at 12? You had me at "singing". [wink] Anyway… I kind of got off on a tangent, there. My point is: her very best stuff spans her entire career, from her public debut (if not earlier) to the present day. Even if I narrowed it down to my 2 favorite performances of hers, it would still range from 8 to 13. (As others have pointed out, she is currently 14 years old, about to turn 15 on January 10th, and released her first major-label single earlier this month). At every age in between, there are huge "tentpole" performances where she blows the doors off, and there are intimate, achingly beautiful performances. Her stuff is all over the map in terms of genre (reaching even into country, disco, and modern EDM), time period (spanning the last 90 years of popular music), and faithfulness to the original (when speaking of her covers, specifically - from near carbon copies to almost unrecognizable). Daniel, as was said in the 1920’s movie The Jazz Singer, “you ain’t heard nothing yet”! I could prattle on to War and Peace length about Angelina’s brilliance. Joni Mitchell is my favorite all time singer going back 50 + years. Angelina is already approaching this ‘goddess’ level at 14! I think we can empathize with the people in Medieval times dealing with the horrors of the plague. One day before Angelina turns 15 I will turn 85. And Elvis would be 86 had he lived. One of my regrets, and I have a few, is that I do not expect to live to see Angelina turn 20. That's what it is. I'm grateful to have her in my virtual world now. I hope you are doing well. 💖

She has enriched this old guys’ life in some hard to define way ever since I stumbled upon her a few years ago. Would you consider corresponding outside this comment mechanism? She's not just a nine year old. She's a nine year old with a band , and a good one. To think that by nine she had heard Screamin' Jay do this and decided she wanted to and could do it. And listen to her other stuff; you'll be impressed. This is only typical in its mastery. She has a thousand voices. At six she had given her shoes to a street girl in Iran, after a conversation in Farsi, and vowed to always perform barefooted to remind the world of children in need. Maybe do I'm Feeling Good next? Or you could jump right to Bohemian Rhapsody on AGT at 13. She just signed with Republic at 14.

With everything I have read about Angelina, I am guessing that even at 9 years old she had a lot to say about the direction and editing. Notice her writing at the beginning and then the band director smiling at the paper--that was her changes in the music.

The lady you see at the beginning is her granny. Her family stick to her like glue. She got her first contract this year and it’s on the basis that Angelina stays in control. Her regular musicians call her the boss. From what I have seen, she’s not a flashy showbiz person, she’s a music nerd.

You have just been AJ'd!!!!! She is a wonder without a doubt. At the time of singing this she was 9 years old. In the video she was writing a note. It was her wish list which was given to the conductor for the changes she wanted the orchestra to do. The conductor was seen smiling at her wishes. You are one of the few that recognised SJH from the picture on the mug and this song was in tribute to him. AJ always performs everywhere barefooted after meeting a young homeless child on the streets who was shoeless. AJ gave her the shoes she had on and vowed to always perform without shoes as a mark of recognition to poverty. Keep listening because she has a lot of fantastic covers you need to go and check out. She has just been signed to Republic records so watch this space.

But she has slayed many genres including blues, R&B, soul, disco, country, rock, EDM (was a good friend of Avicii, has performed with Alan Walker and has recorded an EDM song, Above the Water, for the Norwegian EDM group, TRXD). She has also done a lot of what I think is called “adult contemporary” (Adele, Lana Del Rey and Amy Winehouse) and other forms of pop. And four awesome originals so far, one of which was just released a few weeks ago under Republic Records, as her first content released with the label - Million Miles. You will have billions of requests now. If you choose to continue you could go back to the beginning with her performance of Gloomy Sunday as a 7-yr-old on Norway’s Got Talent, or leap forward to her new single Million Miles, or her AGT Champs version of Bohemian Rhapsody that won a golden buzzer and a tweet from the surviving members of Queen. There are billions of options (well, 131, now) but those are a good place to start.

What may be the most amazing performance by her was when she was 7 and auditioned for Norway's Got Talent. She sang Gloomy Sunday, an iconic song by the legendary jazz singer Billie Holiday. At 7, she sounds exactly like Billie !
