You do know that Daddy's Lessons is Beyoncé's song, right? It's off her Lemonade album. The Dixie Chicks loved it so much that they started covering it on their concert tour. When CMA's contacted Beyoncé to ask if she'd perform it at the 50th celebration, Beyoncé had a condition that the Dixie chicks will play it with her. They haven't been invited there since they criticized Bush Jr. for his presidency. They got together and did a pre recording of them doing the song, so right after the show aired, Beyoncé released the sale of it so people could buy and upload it right away. The CMA's bitched up and took this performance down on their website because too many racists assholes were leaving racists and bigoted comments about her performing country on their show. CMA's said that Beyoncé called them and told them to take it down so they won't cause controversy. I think if they had the balls to put her on the show for ratings....cuz let's face it, if you put her on your show, her fans will watch and your ratings skyrocket, then they should have had her back and the Dixie Chicks. None the less, she got her money and advertisement for new fans that didn't even know about that song. She was paying tribute to her country roots too. Country music was founded in R&B (rhythm and blues), gospel and negro slave songs. But country music listeners today want to ignore that fact and deny it.

Fantastic breakdown. Also, I noticed in the beginning, the guy kept mentioning the 'banjo'... fun historical fact: The banjo is derived from an African instrument brought over by families on the slave ships. This is something that you can look up on your own via Google or otherwise, but yes, the banjo was an African instrument that they altered a bit for their own suiting. Of you've never listened to Banjo playing, Folk/Bluegrass/Country artist Rhiannon Giddens before, then you should. She also gives great historical facts concerning the banjo/country/blues beginnings.

No love, they removed the video of her performance, because Beyoncé is one of the very few artists who owns the copyright to her televised performances. So the Bey team contacted the CMA management and asked to remove it.

Black people created country in the first place. White people act like they own everything. Especially music when it was never created by them.

I love the fact that a large portion of country artist were upset that the CMAs invited Beyonce to perform so to further upset them Beyonce invited the at the time black listed Dixie Chicks.

“Where no one knows her” meanwhile the vast majority of the crowd knew who she was and loved the performance. She is a country pop girl. This is her country song. And it’s a damn good one at that. Stop talking ignorantly and do your research. Anyone of any genre knows who Beyonce is. Because she’s done EVERY genre and she is literally one of the biggest stars in the world.
