Iconic song from great artists
It is The Chicks these days! And this performance was "controversial" (or caused a stir) for two reasons. Country music fans were upset that a black woman was performing on their stage and those same fans hate The Chicks because they have "Liberal" views. The last time The Chicks performed at the CMA's they were not received well. But Beyonce only agreed to perform at the CMA's if she could perform the song with The Chicks. The Chicks covered this song in their concert prior to this performance.

After the last time The Chicks performed at the CMAs, they said they'd never go back. But when Beyonce calls, you answer, right? LOL. They got death threats after this performance and still said performing with Beyonce was the highlight of their professional lives. I also love the not-so-subtle shade they're throwing when they go into The Chicks' song, "Long Time Gone." That verse is about how country music is a hollow, commercialized shell of what it used to be, and with that, they called out every person in that room. Check out The Chicks video "March March," a song they put out during the summer of 2020, right after George Floyd was murdered.
