Where did you out the air module? my dad bought an air intake and it didnt have a slot for the module

It relocates to the underside of the intake pipe. You should be able to see in the video.

did it blow up yet? asking for the sake of my 1.8 R18. Thinking of doing this one :p

I'm trying😂 but this thing is still kicking! Wrist pins have been ticking and chattering for over 15k miles now, and it's still going strong. I have the short ram, remaned uprated injectors, si muffler, tb coolant bypass, bumper duct for more air, and a reflash. The noise is makes on light and partial throttle is awful😭 but once you're on throttle, it goes away. Other than the impending doom of it "blowing" one day, it runs great and hauls really good for what it is. If you're thinking about doing the short ram, I'd definitely look into trying out some diy bumper duct, or even heat reflective tape, just to help with intake temps.

I haven't exactly made a video specifically on it, but I do have a bumper duct intake, and the tb coolant bypass makes a world of difference on intake temps and heat soak. I know the comment is meant to be a "jab", and I get it, short rams aren't the most ideal, but the stock setup on these is really poor already. Regardless, it performs much better than stock for throttle response and flow, and I have no issues with heat soak or throttle lag.

@@newtz_garage I run an Injen SRI on my 08 SI with ducting coming from the factory fog light location. The shorter the intake the less the engine has to work to draw the are in through the length of tubing so I get it. That being said the tubing on your intake looks to be smaller than factory and you can also guarantee that they did not measure the airstream to figure out the best place to put the mass airflow sensor. Honda puts a great deal of effort into making their intakes efficient and quiet they're hard to beat. Unless you're running something that's bench tested and Dyno proven it's literally all hot air.

@@MyBrothersKeeper101 The DC Sports intake pipe is not only smooth, but almost an ⅛ inch larger diameter than stock for the R18. And yes, it is "hot air". Despite that, my temps dropped 7 degrees on average-ish before I'd even done the bumper duct (and that was during summer in SC, USA) and response is awesome. It's not a performance car or engine, but everything I've done has improved the dynamics of how it feels, drives, and responds by a lot, and that's all I care about, it's fun and enjoyable for me to drive. Regardless of it being "hot/warm" air, it's higher flowing, still cooler than temps I was getting before, and faster responding. Sure, if I actually dynoed it pre and post intake and reflash, I may have gained 2hp peak, but it's not so gutless down low and I don't have to rev it out constantly. Cheap car, non performance engine, budget mods, and amateur enthusiast/mechanic🤷🏻‍♂️ it works for me, and I'm having fun😂

It allows for better/quicker throttle response, more air in, and it sounds awesome! I did a coolant throttle body bypass as well, mid video, which helps with keeping intake air temps lower/cooler. And I also have a bumper duct which pulls fresh/cooler air in, and pulls more the faster I'm driving.

@newtz_garage oh wow. so would you recommend performing all three mods you just mentioned in that case? what could I notice different when driving in more basic terms? starting to engage more on the mechanical side of vehicle. I work as an auto estimator and am trying to learn all I can

@@sTan2493x To get the most out of it, definitely all 3 together. Also depends on your budget and goal. When I bought my short ram intake, it was less than $100, so I jumped on it. If you have more to play with, I'd try and find a cheap or used cold air intake, and do that along with the coolant bypass. It really comes down to budget, preference, and build goal.

Funny enough, haven't actually messed with any 10th Gen Si's. But I have played with a few 10th Gen sports, I think cvts cuz I had them in the end. Stock 8th and 9th gen Si's haven't been a problem either. It's not fast and it's not like I'm gapping any of them in this, but it technically shouldn't be able to beat them at all, even if it's by a car or whatever. Definitely a hoot to mess with people with and then them find out it's an LX if we get a chance to chat😂 I'm sure it's hurt a few feelings lowkey😂

@@newtz_garage Prob a tuned 8th/9th gen with fbo might give you a harder time but those 10th gen sports are meh. They look pretty but they're slow 😴

@@kikicoot Oh absolutely, I'm cooked by any of them with real bolt ons. I've run a few with a muffler delete or just an intake, and it was close, but I still edged out. Any actual bolt ons, or even reflash or time, they've got it all day😂 I ain't mad though, this thing will put in some decent work for being an econo turd😂 And those cvts are wasted on the 10th gens as far as stock performance, but they seem to hold up decent enough

@@benjbsn2429 Just about🤣 You definitely won't get near the power numbers of an Si, but bang for buck and budget, the R18 is a great build. Same chassis and body, just different motor, but cheaper and slightly more efficient. With all I've done to it, I have no trouble hanging with a lot of cars it shouldn't be able to. And it honestly sounds really good too. Nice intake induction growl, little pops and a deeper note from the exhaust, and it still handles great for no suspension upgrades yet.

I get the skepticism😂 I do. And alone, yeah, it won't do much but sound cool. But tb coolant bypass, bumper duct, remanned uprated injectors, reflash for 91,Si muffler and midpipe, the thing hauls for what it is and i love it! No race car, but stock 8th gen Si's are no problem and brzs😂
